Candidate Pool

Let's assume (and hope) that things don't get so bad that we no longer even have elections and start seriously developing a pool of candidates for office, ANY OFFICE.

If government on all levels is run by sheeple and the corrupted, then it can be healed on all levels with awake, aware people filling the seats of power.

I, Michael Lawson, will run for an elected office (again) in the next 2-4 years and work even more diligently from my post for real change than I ever did before.

Who else will committ to running for office? Don't start listing people you've read about or seen on TV, this is about YOU!

Will YOU committ to running for office, any government office, in the next 2-4 years??

Elections and politics may be worthless BS, but when you are represented, you have a much better chance of waking up far more people and turning the tide. But it's up to YOU. If YOU don't run, you really don't know what you're getting.

The support base here is invaluable. Beyond financial support, other DP members can proofread your literature and any speeches, they can help you find info on innovative ideas to share locally, and they can create a buzz around you that will surely not go unnoticed. There are more members here than voters in the last election I won. You WILL have the support of me and a sea of intelligent,, alert and aware people and YOU will be unbeatable.

Once you're in the central committee, you can choose a seat

...choose a good one, cause you're gonna sell-out the machine that got you there.

NO SUITS

Mike.

No suit and ties when you run. Just sweatshirts and T-shirts, and jackets that say "I am not for sale!", really large across the front. I am telling you this will go over like hotcakes. Be down to earth, and try not to spew the typical politician type bullshit. I am probably not telling you anything you haven't thought of, but start getting those shirts, t-shirts, and jackets ready. Every freaking politician wears suits, you need to stand out, never wear a suit, and sometimes don't even shave. Fit in and be heard. Don't forget "I am not for sale!" It will speak multitudes. Good luck, you have my vote.

This one guy I ran against in 2001 didn't wear a suit

He got 3% to my 63%. If we had the luxury of running for a wide-awake constiuency I agree with you 110%, but we do not have that luxury. I caused Kathleen Kennedy Townsend to lose at least a thousand votes because she wouldn't speak to me while I was wearing my work clothes and I called her out on later when she all of a sudden became my best buddy at a community meeting. If you can't treat someone in coveralls the same as someone in a nice suit, you need to reexamine your thinking.
I wish the voters were ready for your idea dude, I really do.

Spot on Mike.

Ron Paul is my President.

Yeah that's where it gets tough...

I'm in icky wacky demo(n)cratic Wisconsin =( .
Even the upper crusters are too stupid to see the light, and they are the ones that might carry some influence.
I mean I always do my small part in talking with people one on one and stuff.
But I have to commend you on your service and sacrifice in the name of freedom. Best of luck.

Perfect thread Mike!! This

Perfect thread Mike!! This should be up all the time. Finding eligible viable candidates for all kinds of public offices should be the highest priority of most DPer's. We have so much to do but it's doable! I'm here to support those who wish to run. I do believe this is ultimately what C4L is about but as usual the grassroots take the lead!

Not finding. Being.

It's up to us to take the bull by the horns.

Some names for the future

I've been keeping track of those who have similarities to Dr Paul but aren't that old yet - most of the main guys are already too old (65+) to hold office 4-8 yrs from now; at least, not all of them. Some of these guys are controversial but they're the best I could find; let me know if you can think of any more. Here they are:

Young:
Bill Kauffman, BJ Lawson, Bobby Jindal, Chuck Baldwin, Cynthia McKinney, Ed Royce, Flynt Leverett, Gary Johnson, Grover Norquist, JC Watts, Jeff Flake, John Ensign, John Sununu, Karen Kwiatkowski, Mark Sanford, Michael Badnarik, Naomi Wolf, Robert Kennedy Jr, Robert Pape, Sarah Palin, Scott Garrett, Thomas Dilorenzo, Thomas E Woods Jr, Andrew Sullivan

Pushing It:
Andrew Napolitano, Bob Barr, David Walker, Dennis Kucinich, Jerome Corsi, Jesse Ventura, John Stossel, Kurt Russell, Mark Skousen, Chuck Hagel, John Shaddegg

That looks like people you've read about. Gotta follow the rules

Now you have to find like 30 people you know and trust to run. Just kidding with ya. BJ is THE MAN, Michael Badnarik is also THE MAN. The rest of your list makes me shudder from head to toe. Are you ready for a bid?

hey Mike

I have an idea.
What if we pick some liberty oriented candidates and start to move into their districts?
same goes for the first two voting states in 2012 presidential election.
Mass migration into NH and Iowa?

In a few years.

23, currently need to gain experience, etc. Permanent residency someplace, etc.

Once that is done, in 3 years or so I will run.

Michael, I'm with you but...........

Do you remember how many times Dr. Paul was cheated by election committees during his run? Remember the primaries rip off in Vegas?
The outright refusal of the Republican National Committee to recognize Dr. Paul? The constant marginalizing of the Good Doctor? I think that we have a few T's to cross and a few I's to dot before we run circles around the system.
We have to infiltrate the elections apparatus to expect free and fair elections.
Stalin didn't care how the people voted in Russia. He cared about who COUNTED the votes. I am so ashamed of what the American people have come to accept....rigged elections.

I think about it frequently, and may, but...

Running for office is very expensive and time consuming. This time and expense could be cut dramatically if we got together and came up with "cookie-cutter" campaigns. Why re-invent the wheel for every campaign? Design ONE great web, like Ron Paul's, then just change the names and text. Design ONE mailer, change the names and some of the text. Maybe even use the same liberty minded printer for a big bulk discount.

Surely among this group there are some talented web designers???

Me thinks

that that would get sniffed out pretty quickly. But the idea of pooling resources whenever possible is a good one.

Sniffed out?

You make it sound like that by implementing this idea we'd be trying to get away with something. I don't think looking like we're part of a group fighting for the constitution and small government is a bad thing, it should draw people toward us.

The cost and trouble of designing web sites, mailers, etc. is enough to dissuade most of us from running in the first place. Re-inventing the wheel is expensive and inefficient.

I have thought about it:

But I have something else to try and do first.
I am in an area that I really can't afford to be within the next couple of years and I want to move to another state. If I can just accomplish that, I will more then likely jump in head first where I am going. I would be retired and have the time to devote. Thanks to the good Dr. and liberty minded people that have helped to educate me over the past year and a half, I feel competent and willing. For all of those that are about to embark on that journey, good luck.
And Mike, I heard something about you that makes me believe you are a decent man of integrity and I would support you in a minute.

Here's how quickly you can act!

City council. It works.

In 2009 we aren't paying for the "county drug task force". This wouldn't have happened without me questioning why we pay random bills that organizations send us - even if the bill is from the sheriff.
