What stops people from wanting to hear the truth?

I was just told that I drive myself crazy with politics by someone I thought I was waking up. It's hard to explain that I'm not driving myself crazy or that any of the real big picture has the least to do with politics (at least the personality red team/blue team politics most americans know).

I feel free, enlightened and happy. I actually feel sorry for people who have no intellectual curiosity. But I'm not conviced that is the entire problem.

Why do you think people are averse to the truth? Why do you think people think others are driving themselves nuts when all they are really doing is sharing fascinating information. I know that powerlessness is probably a huge part of it, but it's hard to explain an intellectual journey for the sake of enlightenment. Do they need to get graded on all learning? Is it just easier to believe what they hear on TV?

Or----have many people become "fed-up" with it and decided they were not interested in anything but their own little existence?

I'm not sure how to carry on a conversation anymore because 90% of the topics people have are straight from the TV and its all part of the big picture. Maybe they think I'm crazy because noone on tv talks like I do.

Can someone help me make heads or tails of this??

Study is a Luxury Few Can Afford

Sure, information is free but the time it takes to drill down into the nuggets of truth is not.

Standard working couple get up in the morning, chug some coffee, take a shower, drop off kids at school/day-care, bust hump at work all day while putting up with petty bosses and even pettier company rules, come home hopefully early evening, maybe get a bite to eat, have a drink, put kiddos to sleep and fall down exhausted.

They may have the tuition money but no time to sit in class.

Time is the luxury few can afford, and the elite exploit that fact.

Socialists are Everywhere

You have a very valid point!

You have a very valid point! I come from a very middle-class family and these were the values I was taught.

Bingo

The luxury of time. People do not have TIME for the truth and why those who do, better get busier.

I don't know

Why did I used to feel guilty about being white? Social programing, perhaps?

Gosh Golly! Don't ya just love rabbit holes

I just finished watching "Buy the Ticket Take the ride." Smack!!!!!! There is that pain of another piece of my "reality" being stripped away, followed buy an uncontrollable bout of laughter until I cry. For me, it is a moment of Liberation. Like the first time I heard Dr.Paul, Harold Pinter, read Tolkien or shortly after I stopped watching TV back in 95 and started thinking for myself again.

In regards to your topic, below this post is a multitude of reasons why people are averse to the truth. Lies, pain, denial, mind control, trust, fear etc. We have come to accept these as foremost truths and the "norm." The Truth has become so foreign it has become frightening because of it's unfamiliarity.

People also said that I was going crazy, going to become isolated, and that I needed to take a break from all this. I was this, I was that. I was becoming something they were not familiar with. Then also, like you, I am saying to myself that this feels good, I'm happy, I feel like I'm growing and evolving. I'm thinking that this is some of what it feels like to be free and yet some of the people that are the closest to me find this uncomfortable? What a head trip.

Some just don't want to talk about truths, facts or personal experience let alone seek them out. I believe that very few in modern civilization have ever experienced true freedom. I don't feel sorry for the ones today that choose not to explore a world of "fascinating information" because tomorrow is another day that they just might choose to. So for me, like the good Dr.Paul said, I simply seek out and enjoy my moments of freedom and the chances that I get to be in the presence of free individuals with the hope that many others will finally see that true freedom is awaiting them.

I look forward to reading Hunter's biography.

The truth is like a hot

The truth is like a hot potato. Once you have it, you feel the need to pass some to someone else because the burden of the heat (truth) gets to be too much.
I think most people feel the "heat" of the "potato" and turn off their ears and head to what you are saying. Handling the truth is uncomfortable and is sometimes hard to handle. Not everyone is up for that.

.....Or I might just be really hungry for a potato right now.

I suggest you stop talking

I suggest you stop talking to them. Dr. Paul (on the CampaignForLiberty.com site) is clear about this.

1) Don't try to convert people. Spend your time finding people who think like you do. Point them to DailyPaul.com and CampaignForLiberty.com to learn more and get active.

2) Dr. Paul only needs the vote of 3% of the voters in your area to have an affect. You see most elections are won (or lost) by 3% or less. If we can rally these people we can vote out non patriotic incumbents.

Keep your goals small and within reach.

2 weeks, 4 days... Brent, are you for real?

I agree with part of what you are saying but I am always a little suspicious of someone who has only been around for a couple of weeks.

Ron Paul for President 2012

Ron Paul is my President.

We have to help others

We have to help others understand that they have been living in a lie. We have been lied to our whole lives about our rights and our country.

The problem is you are spreading misinformation

A) Listen to what Ron Paul says. He doesn't want you converting people.
B) Spreading your laughable 9/11 crack-pot theories helps no one, and it certainly harms Ron Paul.

Please go where your heart and mind lead you.

However, proselytizing to converting people is not the way Dr. Paul wants us to move forward.

If you join the CampaignForLiberty.com and take the training you will find that Dr. Paul has very specific goals to return the Republic. Converting people is not on the agenda.

Kind Regards.

My trip down the rabbit hole has been long and intense

I do not proselytize. I am not driven by Ron Paul's agenda. He's a good guy. But he's not the pinnacle of awareness by a stretch.

I wasn't trying to be unkind Brent. You know me.

I can be blunt occassionally. But hopefully, never rude.

It's because we fear ridicule.

Being laughed at or judged foolish or naive is one of our worst fears. A few days ago I heard Guardian Angels founder and talk host Curtis Sliwa dump all over a caller for having two years' supply of stored food. Why? Well, because doomsayers warned of calamity due to Y2K and nothing happened, therefore it's a bogus fear now. Who wants to be dumped on, treated like an idiot, either on the radio or among friends, family, and coworkers?

You might say that people are a little too social in this respect. When we are so fearful of poor judgment in the eyes of others then we are truly lacking in self determination. America needs to rediscover rugged individualism, the ability to rationally plot one's own course and assert one's own ideas in life. I'm afraid our public education system and TV news have all but smothered these traits, hence our nation of sheeple.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

yes, we all need courage to go against the mainstream.

it takes courage to speak about the fed, question 9/11, store food, etc...

keep doing it!!

if ya get down --- come here and tell us about it. that's what we are here for.

i think this is beautiful:

"America needs to rediscover rugged individualism, the ability to rationally plot one's own course and assert one's own ideas in life."

Here are some ideas that

Here are some ideas that have helped me to understand the same question. I too have no one who will discuss anything with me. They look at me as though I am speaking alien, because they have not done the thinking or the introspection or the research.

Some learn because they are motivated from within to learn. They tend to be intuitive and more in tune with their Higher Selves. They seek understanding as a way of life. Answers usually come from within.

Others are more tuned to exploring the physical sensations of the world. They tend to learn only if some life crisis makes them stop what they are doing and learn the lesson hidden in the crisis, whether it be accident, illness, or some loss in life.

The world is in crisis right now, and everyone in the world is going through some lessons because of it. One way or another we are meant to evolve and learn, either the easy way by seeking wisdom, or the hard way by going through crisis, and learning from our errors. Maybe more people will begin questioning and understanding at this time because of going through crisis.

beautifully said.

.

Thank you.

:-)

Ignorance is bliss.

One of the reasons we come here is to be with like-minded people, even if only in cyberspace.

We are not on the same page with everything, but probably all of us here have had an awakening in one respect or another. That is probably why we supported Ron Paul in the first place.

In our circles in real life, that is not the case.

I don't know what to say to people who have their eyes closed and like it that way. I want to know truth. I seek.

MOCKINGBIRD: The Subversion Of The Free Press By The CIA

As terrible as it is to live in a nation where the press in known to be controlled by the government, at least one has the advantage of knowing the bias is present, and to adjust for it. In the United States of America, we are taught from birth that our press is free from such government meddling. This is an insideous lie about the very nature of the news institution in this country. One that allows the government to lie to us while denying the very fact of the lie itself.

i have asked myself that a million times.

you know, some people are just here on earth at this time to experience the 'normal' life that's going on at the time.

born - go to school - get married - have kids -- die. nothing too extreme.

our personalities HATE change, truth, and chaos.

the part of us that likes that is our higher self/spirit (whatever name you want to give it). there is always this battle that goes on between the two. well... unless you are an ascended master or a christ. which none of us hanging around here are. lol.

MANY people will only look at something outside the box if they have a HUGE motivating factor to do so.

but there are a few here who are bored. they seem to be innately pulled or pushed into actively seeking for 'something more'.

that's THE main reason i'm in rse. i'm bored and annoyed at the timelime i'm on.

frankly, we're down to the crunch time. i'm spending most of my free time changing me.

in my job, i get to observe where people are moving... to the interior or to the coastline. considering the ele's that are coming it is evident that a lot of people have absolutely no desire to survive what's coming.

that's a hard thing to make peace with.

i do think it is important to keep gently pushing the freedom message though... even though we are entering dark days.

i know that if i don't make it through the earth changes, i'll be back to give it another go pretty quickly. i'm on the 'ground hog' plan! :)

being humble, supporting freedom, being friendly to nature, and being prepared for the earth changes are THE only things that are going to take us to the other side of 2013.

"The Matrix is a System Neo.

"The Matrix is a System Neo. That system is our Enemy. But when you're inside and look around...What do you see? Businessmen, Teachers, Lawyers, Carpenters...The very minds of the people we are trying to same. But until we do...these people are still part of that system...And that makes them our Enemy.

You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured...So hopelessly dependent on the system...That they will fight to PROTECT IT."
Morpheus, The Matrix

Maybe instead of trying to tell people the Truth, let them learn the Truth the same way they learned the "Lie". Through entertaining media.
