Support Mike Franco for Chair of the Massachusetts Republican Party !
The election for a new Chair of the Massachusetts Republican Party is January 27. Mike Franco needs help in his campaign.
Why Ron Paul supporters should help elect Mike Franco the next Mass GOP Chair-
First, we will receive a much warmer reception from the GOP in the years ahead, especially in the next presidential election of 2012, with Mike Franco at the helm.
Second, Mike Franco agrees with the core constitutional principles of Ron Paul. He believes in obeying the US Constitution.
Third, on specific issues across the board-opposition to the bank bailout and the Federal Reserve, support for homeschooling, and devolution of power to local entities-Mike Franco is in agreement with Ron Paul policies.
There is a presumption by some that the election is already sewn up and the same old clique of insiders has chosen their person. This will not be true if you take action.

MIKE FRANCO'S BIOGRAPHY
My Massachusetts Roots
My family’s stake in Massachusetts began when my grandparents settled here from Italy (Dad), Sweden and Poland (Mom). Like many European immigrants during that time, they came to America for a better life seeking more opportunity and freedom.
My parents grew up in distinct working class, ethnic neighborhoods of Springfield. They met while employed at a large area manufacturer and married when my dad returned from his Army service in the mid-1950s. They then moved out of the city, and raised our growing family in East Longmeadow, then a fledgling suburb.
Encouragement and Guidance from Parents
I am the middle of three children with an older brother and younger sister. They live with their families in Wilbraham and South Hadley, respectively, and have their own homes and successful careers. Most of our extended family still resides in Massachusetts today.
My parents encouraged all of their children to pursue and achieve an extensive college education. In 1992, I received my MBA from the University of Texas. I had previously earned a Bachelors Degree in Management and Marketing from Westfield State College in 1986. I also hold an Associates Degree in Engineering Technologies from Springfield Technical Community College.
A Military Family
Like my father, my brother and I are veterans.
I served in the Air Force through the Air Reserve Forces for a total combined service of 23 years and was stationed permanently in Massachusetts, Texas and Colorado during my early to mid- career. I performed temporary duty assignments in Hawaii, Utah, California, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee and Mississippi. My specialties and responsibilities took me to several foreign nations, transporting equipment and supplies on humanitarian missions.
As a junior officer, I oversaw the administration of an aircraft maintenance unit and its flight line operations, consisting of 16 cargo aircraft and several thousand personnel - military and civilian. I later became a Public Affairs Officer for an airlift wing after attending a formal joint service military school.
Professional Training and Administrative Experience
I am a skilled journalist and media specialist, writing more than 75 articles for local and national military periodicals. I also have real world experience. My graduate school studies were interrupted when I was called to active duty at the start of the first Persian Gulf War. During this time, I composed numerous press releases, helped set up and host several press conferences, sometimes under sensitive and demanding circumstances. In one instance, nine of our wing flight crew and several passengers died in a tragic fiery crash. I was responsible for protecting grieving families from an aggressive and insensitive media. My work, managing the flow of information as crews and planes were pushed hard in a worldwide system, was extremely demanding.
After my return home, I was promoted and became the Officer-In-Charge of Public Affairs at Westover Air Reserve Base, Chicopee and oversaw a staff of fourteen airmen and women, and two civilian personnel. I was responsible for meeting a monthly production and distribution deadline of a newspaper, the ‘Patriot’. I had the honor to be named “best captain” among the company grade officer corps in an annual officer appraisal report.
My final four years of duty was as an Executive Officer for the Support Group Commander with six squadrons comprised of a few thousand military and civilian personnel. Responsibilities included unit self-assessment and inspection programs, and internal investigations and report writing for incidences of fraud and mismanagement. As a major, I also wrote and reviewed appraisal reports for top tier enlisted personnel, peer group officers in subordinate squadrons, and commanding officers.
I am thankful to the Air Force for its considerable investment in my professional development.
Private Responsibilities and Public Duties
I worked in the private sector for six years in the 1990’s as a territory sales representative and national product sales and marketing manager. The companies I worked for manufactured, marketed, sold and distributed machine tools, equipment and supplies to industry. My primary sales and marketing territories were the New England and upstate New York regions.
Over the last ten years, I have diligently promoted the Republican Party as a candidate for public office. I was a candidate for state Representative in the 5th Hampden District for 2002, a race that included our downtown campaign office, and then Governor’s Council in the Eighth District for 2006 and 2008. I have served as a board member and chairman for various political committees, as well as nonprofit agencies.
In our electoral races, we have always ended a campaign with more voter support than when we began. For instance, in my first Massachusetts Governor’s Council race, we received 22 percent of the vote but increased that to 31 percent the second time around. We won six towns outside Springfield; three with John McCain and three with Barack Obama. In several other communities, the race was close to a tie or well over 40% of the vote. Our success at fundraising allowed us to be very competitive, despite the odds, and helped us close out each campaign debt free with an eye to future races.
Leadership for the MassGOP
It is clear that our Party, at this low ebb in electoral victories, needs strong executive and administrative direction in the years ahead. I know I have both the character and professional skills to lead this organization. With your help we can build a stronger and more vibrant MassGOP. Our Party and our fellow citizens deserve nothing less.
