Turning the cancelled Dec. 4th debate into a win for Ron Paul?
Submitted by JustAnotherV on Fri, 11/16/2007 - 16:23Like I lot of people I see that the Dec. 4th debate has been cancelled. This is unfortunate as there are not many left and these debates have previously been crucial for the campaign to get its message out to primetime.
I assume that congressman Paul's schedule was already blocked out for Iowa, so I was wondering if there is a way to hold a super-sized rally/speech, a self-run question answer session, and/or an open invitation to debate any and all other candidates on that day even without FOX. It might even be possible to garner some sort of main stream coverage of that event if it had enough support, but in any case, a strong and engaged presence in Iowa against the backdrop of this fumble could garner much needed support at a critical time. Without the debate itself, there is a need to fill the vacuum with something dramatic that makes use of the limited remaining time. If a statement was put out ahead of time, it might also be possible to lure in media attention while they are still somewhat warmed up from the recent fundraising coverage.

The Revolution Within The Revolution
simpleman1776 posted a brilliant message yesterday which raises the question, "What is the proper behavior mode for Ron Paul supporters?"
I should like to point out that during the Battle of Britain, Winston Churchill said in a radio address, "If we lose the good fight, Europe will descend into a thousand years of darkness."
Today we are at the Churchillian crossroads once again. But this time the entire world is at stake.
The Bilderberg Group and the world bankers have purchased the Bush and Clinton families and own all of the presidential candidates with the exception of Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, and Mike Gravel.
When you see Obama, Hillary, Edwards, along with Guiliani, Romney, and McCain endlessly babbling on about nothing, nothing, nothing, you are witnessing the personification of the New World Order.
Most of the Senators and House Representatives are in the bag.
The North American Union is in place.
As of May 8, 2008 Americans will be required to carry a national I.D. card with a magnetic strip containing your vital statistics and other personal items.
The Kennedy's and many others have been murdered for daring to oppose the New World Order.
Those of you who wish to be "sensible," "polite," "civil," and speak only words Ron Paul would approve of are free to do so.
There is a large contingent of people in the Ron Paul Revolution who speak boldly, loudly, to the point about the fascist takover, 9/11 truth, and how if Ron Paul fails, the entire world will slip into a thousand years of darkness.
The reality of one world government and massive population slavery is materializing all around us.
How you conduct yourself in public as a Ron Paul supporter is your business. But I recommend that privately, all of you study and research the Alex Jones / 9/11 truth.
This is a bad time in world history for supposed enlightened people to willfully place their heads in the sand.
As Chruchill said
Hello Citizen The Freewheelin,
I see your point. I am, however, reminded of what Mr. Churchill said once. "Just because you are going to kill a man is no excuse to be impolite to him."
Liberty & prosperity at home and peace abroad,
in-fighting...
Well, rumor mill has it that Mitt got a bit "miffed" at Fox, Rudy isn't too comfortable yet taking questions regarding his former "boy" going to prison, so Fox probably wasn't sure how this would all turn out anyway.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but not all the candidates are slated for CNN's YouTube debate are they? If not, this will work to our advantage moreso than another Fox/Faux debate that would star the "usual suspects." Both CNN and of course YouTube are quite friendly now to the RP camp, so this could be to our favor :-)
Word also is that the Iowa GOP isn't too happy right now with Mitt, their former "Golden Boy" so the more in-fighting all that bunch does, the better RP supporters stand to have a good turnout at the Iowa Primary!
TAX BOMB...... BOOM!
The response has been explosive! It's fun, easy and fast.

Iowa Event on Dec. 4th
I agree with you, Ron Paul should take this opportunity to reach out to the Iowa voters. I like the idea of a large rally, something with a live video feed broadcast from his website. Invite the media in Iowa (or PBS) and the national media. RON PAUL IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE WITH A MEANINGFUL and INSPIRING MESSAGE. This is precisely why the candidates do not want to debate with him. They are saying to hell with the people, we'll win this thing with our buddies at the MSM. Who can blame them really, who would want to go into a ring knowing they would be KO'ed in the first round?
I would urge Ron Paul to take this opportunity (as he has in the past) to reach out to Iowa. Let them know that they are important. Let them know that they deserve his message and hell or high-water he should make sure they get it. The debate would have been great for Ron Paul, they obviously understand this and the move was by design. I am not saying it would be easy (considering the timeline) but Iowa is worth a concerted effort on our part. We are undertaking a letter writing campaign at the moment, maybe we should mention the cancellation and reiterate that Iowa may not be important to some candidates but it is important to Ron Paul.
My 2 cents...
Everytime the powers that be have given Ron Paul and
his supporters lemons they have turned around and made lemonade.
Why should this time be any different?
Maybe you might consider serving lemonade at Ron Paul events, with the saying...they gave us lemons and we made lemonade.

How About the asking IOWA Public Television
About the IOWA PBS station to carry the debate, do a TOWNHALL format, let the LOCAL folks ask ask the questions. Get the PBS News hours folks to moderate. They are fairly neutral. I think that would carry more weight with IOWA voters.

Cancelled the debate?
They cancelled the debate? Go figure. Dr. Paul should show up anyway and go on local Iowa talk radio for half an hour. For shame, but hey here in Michigan they are trying to get the whole Primary Election canceled in favor of party caucuses. Talk about disenfranchisement. My recent post to RonPaulGrassRootsAction follows:
Mich. Appeals Court Blocks Jan. 15 Primary
State Court Of Appeals Ruling Leaves Campaign Calendar In Flux
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/11/16/politics/main35165...
"(AP) The Michigan Court of Appeals on Friday upheld a lower court's
ruling that the Jan. 15 presidential primary law is unconstitutional. "
"State GOP Chairman Saul Anuzis said after the ruling was released
that it's up to Democrats to act.
"Right now, the only thing standing between a presidential primary
and voters is the Democrat (sic) Caucus in the Michigan House of
Representatives," he said in a statement. "There is strong bipartisan
support for a presidential primary on January 15, but time is running
out.""

Two issues of concern quickly come to my mind.
#1
Why can't we put our Primary back where it was? That would be
too easy I suppose. If the whole idea of a Jan. 15 Primary was to
supposedly prevent disenfranchisement of Michigan voters, why
then is virtually complete disenfranchisement in a Caucus instead
of a Primary the solution? Am I missing the point here or have I
hit the nail squarely on it's head?
#2
Also, does the statement or a potential mis-quotation of Saul Anuzis
about a "Democratic Caucus" muddy the issue of having a Michigan
Primary Election (whenever), a Convention or a Caucus to select
the Primary Candidate for both Republican and Democratic parties?
For Liberty!

I think Paul should just
I think Paul should just come out and challenge Huckabee to a one on one debate and forget the rest since they are the only two "real conservative" candidates out there, although both on opposite ends of conservatism. Either that or call out Hilary... Anyways, what do I know?
Maybe a little off-topic
but I just found this cbsnews headline:
Ron Paul's Support Grows On College Campuses
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/11/16/politics/uwire/mai...
How 'bout...
How about a Republican Party softball game. We can have it at the famous "Field of Dreams" baseball diamond in Dubuque, Iowa, ( i understand it can be rented). Judge Napolitano can be umpire
and we'll have hannity in a dunking booth outside.
That's a great idea!
Especially since the rest of the candidates (besides Dr. Paul) are used to having softballs thrown to them.

Hillary vs Paul Debate
How about taking video of Hillary stating her position on issues and either splicing or taping Ron Paul with his counter arguments?
Then bill it on youtube as the debate between the titans: Paul vs Clinton, Individualism vs Collectivism, Free Trade vs Imperialism, Volunteerism vs Coercion, Non-entanglement vs Warmongering, Bring our troops home vs 700 military bases in 130 foreign countries, sound money vs bankruptcy, opting out vs social security slavery.
Real-time is so twentieth century, who needs it?
Real-time is so twentieth century, who needs it
We need real time grassroots on the ground everywhere, gas station, market, door to door, church parking lots. People at gas stations are standing there waiting for you to give them a Ron Paul "Hope for America" flier.
Agree with your creative Idea. Paul vs Hillary Debate. This excellent Idea can not be overlooked or under estimated. I hope and predict this video will be made and will be hugely successful.

Paul vs Clinton or Paul vs Clinton II ??

My idea for a replacement debate
Invite all candidates who have participated in past debates from either party. No excluding Gravel.
All participants get an equal allotment of time. Maybe a timer on the podium of each guy shows how much each one has left.
Each speaker can jump in and answer any question they want, reply to someone, etc. but it comes out of their time. (and when they run out, that's it.)
Debate should be licensed for rebroadcast on the internet, use elsewhere, etc. Not property of any TV network.
Open up showing it to ANY interested TV network provided they follow basic rules of fairness (i.e. can't only show responses from one candidate and have talking commentary over others). It could be C-SPAN. It could be the Jewelry Channel. (Maybe appropriate if Hillary decides to attend.)
But the networks DON'T run the debate - the candidates do and the sponsor (maybe a university or whoever) does.
Audience questions should be screened by representatives from all campaigns together. No planted questions, but we don't want a "Don't tase me bro!" moment either.
I agree
I already posted that twice yesterday-a dem and repub debate. It would be great.
btw: love the idea for a RP vs. Hillary video-something earnest and sincere-serious,not just for kicks. [though that'd be nice, too, but this could prove to be a potent tool!] I predict someone will create one.
My goodness, that sounds like a ... real debate
I wholeheartedly approve!
THE WAR DEBATE!!!!
Why not a War debate open to Democrats and Republicans?
Keep the subject on the War
Like to see Mike Gravel hold Rudy while Ron Paul kicks him the balls!
(With his words of course)
good point
I would like to see Ron Paul win the nomination of the Republican, Libertarian, Constitution, and Reform Party!!!! Now that would show a united conservative movement!! Talk about making history, he is the only person who could do it and that would make an unbeatable Ron Paul.
If he received the Unity 08 nomination he could still run as a Republican so as not to go against what he said about not running as 3rd party..
That's the point of my thread here.

YOU READ MY MIND
Ron should do another Rally. I think he should go solo, but if he invites anyone, he should invite Dennis K. They both are friends and respect the Constitution, they just go about things differently. Since Dennis is getting Blackballed by the Dems, Ron could take his diehard supporters. He should do a 10 minute speech and 45 min of Q & A. Let the neo-con's try to break him. That is when he truly shines and shows how superior his message is. This would be great. If he gets Iowa, NH would be a done deal. Someone needs to contact the campaign. This is a Golden Opportunity.
Great idea
I like the idea, but if you do I recommend you invite Alan Keys. He seems to be left out in all but one debate.
I think
I would like to see Ron Paul do a question/answer session with the 99 counties that were going to come to the debate. He could do it on Dec. 4th like the debate was planned for.
yahoo super tuesday (dec 4)
Hey guys,
today I noticed that yahoo has top 10 searches on its page.
Why don't we each try to "search" Ron Paul that day and see
if we can put him into the top 10 searches.
And come to think of it, we could do it every Tuesday
