A Mess
I haven't posted for a long time.
In late July I sold all my stock for cash. Then, last October, I left the mainland U.S.A. and am living far, far from the action. The ship of state is sinking and I got off the boat. I'll come back someday - maybe - when it rights itself. This is called survival.
Had Ron Paul been given a fair shake in the media and among the politicians during last year's campaign,I might still be with you. But this is not the case. The big boys of the CFR and other influential organizations (the FED, the White House) have messed things up so badly that the sweetness of living in the U.S. A. has given way to a mess of great magnitude. And, as most of us know, it will get worse before it gets better.
Ron Paul was right, and has been right all along He talked sense, but few listened. Well, WE listened, but we are - as everybody has pointed out - in the minority. As a result we, and Dr. Paul, are marginalized as kooks, or worse.
What is most frustrating is that - despite the sensible talk by Dr. Paul over the years - few in a position of authority say, "The guy is right! Let's pay attention." Washington is ego-driven: play the game, play golf, eat at the right club and 'go along' and you will get a safety net. One of the perks of big government is security for the Boys. But the little guys who show up for work each morning are left to hang, or have lost their jobs.
It was not always thus. Long ago legislators looked after their constituents and took care of them, or tried to. That has all changed for the worse. It's 'every man/woman for himself!" So the economy will continue to tank, the dollar will lose value and we will be plunged into Dark Ages II.
What is most annoying is that all of what is to come could have been avoided had the Good People of the U.S.A. had a chance to hear, and maybe even elect, Dr. Paul. But he was blocked, or discredited or (as I stated above) marginalized. Crazies are making decisions for us all - and that is when I thought, "I can't live here any more."
The odd thing is, so many people hailed the Obama victory as something new and different from the Bush administration. They are wrong. The writing is on the wall and it is something I prefer to read from far away. The U.S.A., as we knew and loved her, is - for the foreseeable future - finished.

Congratulations
I am glad for you. I'd do the same thing, if, of course, I had the money. I am envious that you were able financially to do it. Have a ball. Try some Long Island Ice Teas. We're dead in the water here in the USA. Let it get too far. I warned in the 80's. Nobody listened. I talked to a Congressman running for election about the deficits. He said they weren't worried because they were under the appropriate percentage limit to GDP. At that time he said we were around 2% and it was okay up to 3%. Well, it's 8.3% now. They are "intentionally" and "deliberately" inflating our currency. Next a default on the bonds as the interest rates climb. There is no good percentage. Only a balanced budget.

Your right zenpiper. I
Your right zenpiper. I can't help you. When the tsunami gets here I'll be on my surfboard.
oxen
Sorry if this sounds ignorant, but...
How is moving to a US territory considered "leaving the US"? That's like saying you're escaping the US by moving to Hawaii. Your tax dollars still support and prop up the US government, you're still bound to certain US laws and restrictions, you're still relying on the soon-to-be-worthless US dollar but unlike Hawaii, you have no representation in the US government.
And frankly, an island that relies on imports isn't a good place to weather a financial depression.
Homework is a good thing !
You are partially right, but the Marianas have a 'covenant' with the U.S. Government, which provides for quite a bit of autonomy. Hawaii is a state, just like the mainland states and Alaska. The local government is also corrupt, but at least there are no winters, food is grown locally, the waters are unpolluted (compared to other places) and fresh fish and seafood is everywhere. Survival will not be quite as difficult - I hope. A real concern is fresh water, since everybody uses the big blue bottles for drinking water. As far as the dollar is concerned, it will probably still work on the islands, if only temporarily. I am buying some Yen as a hedge. As for taxes, the highest Federal rate here is 9%, which is about 1/4 of the U.S. rate.
Imports *are* indeed important, but if the trucks stop rolling in the U.S. then we're all in the same boat. Either way, I would prefer to be here. At least, from this vantage point, today. You may be 100% right and I will have to start swimming.
This ain’t a sinking ship.
This ain’t a sinking ship. You won’t drown because you aren’t in water. What, you can’t change a tire without AAA.
The point is, you have enjoyed the benefits of this country, now it is time to take it back from those who are robbing you. Just because you leave that doesn’t stop the evil. That is up to me and you. I’m sorry your tired but what if the AAA guy said that when you call for that tire change? If a force is taking freedom from mankind, then they are taking it from you, no matter where you are.
More people are waking up than ever before. We actually have a chance because our numbers are increasing. Can you at least roll bandages and reload arms? I’m tired too, but the front lines are for me, if they’ll have me.
oxen
Oh yes it is.
.
Oxen, if you can solve the growing unemployment, figure out how to deal with with astonishing losses in credit, the gradual devaluation of the dollar (been listening to Ron Paul?) and loosen the grip of the FED, then please explain how to do it. You want to take the benefits back from those who are robbing us? Great! How?
I am still enjoying the benfits of this country and am on U.S. soil. Just soil that happens to be thousands of miles from the mainland.
People waking up? Maybe - but the numbers are too small. The unemployed are worried about feeding their kids, their families, and getting another job. The government is corrupt. How will you get them out?
Roll bandages and reload arms? For what army?
Good for you
I say more power to you if you have the means to leave and can find a better place. To be honest though, even if I could leave, I do not know where I would go that is better.
Lots of U.S. islands in the Western Pacific
.
Spidey, if you have the money, relocating to any of the islands in the western Pacific is pretty easy. There are many, many of them, under the U.S. flag. Guam is the biggest and has a military base there also. Tinian, Rota, Saipan - they are all good. Also the islands of Yap, Pulau, and the Federated States of Micronesia. They all use U.S. dollars, speak English and have the stars and stripes flying over the post office. That is where I am (in general terms) and it's great.
I considerred leaving too.
But the more I researched it became more apparent that unless you go 3rd world this is the best place to be. Good luck in Western Europe, Hitler and Mussolini knocked on the door and they surrendered immediately. Australia is disarming their citizens. Singapore and Hong Kong are easy pickings for China. And China is....well, China. The economic collapse is going to be global, everyone is using the dollar. Shortly after the economic collapse comes the social collapse. The only safe place to be is shoulder to shoulder with your armed neighbors, just like 1776. I don't know of any other country whose citizens are as armed and brave as ours. I am still working on getting out of New York, but it will be to the south, or mountain states.
I prefer dangerous freedom to peaceful slavery.
-Thomas Jefferson
trying hard not to be
critical here....
i'm having a hard time figuring out your point.
you see. since we all know what you're talking about in full detail.....
it only makes some of us upset that people are leaving instead of fighting.
what if we all did what you have done?
reply
If you did what I did, survival might be easier for you. Maybe. I turned 21 in 1968 and I was full of fight then. I don't want to fight anymore; I want to live as peacefully as possible, and away from the winters back home.
Farewell, Godspeed
I would never knock you for leaving. However,I'll just say that to leave would not be an option for me.I love this country so much, and pray that I honor our fore-fathers in all that I do.America is a dream. For me I chose to fight for that dream, afterall ,anything worth-while is worth fighting for.
I hope you find your dream and stand for it.I wish you peace and happiness.Good luck and Godspeed.
Typokitty =^-^=
Thank you
.
There has been a lot of talk in this thread about 'staying and fighting.' This is admirable in a way, but how does one fight unemployment? The declining dollar? The congress, president, the FED, CIA or other powerful organizations?
To fight one needs a clear-cut enemy, and enough of an army to win the fight. But how does one fight intangibles? How does one fight greed? Or corruption, especially when law enforcement is often corrupt? How do you fight the Blago guy who tried to sell Obama's senate seat? Or Mr. Madoff, who screwed people out of billions of dollars? How do you fight Wall Street?
It's *such* a mess, all of it. But if you want to fight - be my guest. Let us know how you do. I hope you win!
I came back
I was so put-off by the result of the Bush re-election that I left the States in 2005. I was living in the UK for 2.5 years and learned very much about the difference in the countries.
However it wasn't until I learned about Ron Paul, just over a year ago, that I learned the value of freedom and the importance of preserving what we have here. Consequently I also became more aware of how un-free the UK is. And I learned to very much dislike being there.
At this time I was really into Alex Jones and getting deep into the gloom-and-doom of conspiracy theory. I was addicted to learning how terrible everything was going to become in America. So it was a bit ironic that I decided to come back to the US, where there would supposedly be concentration camps, nuclear and biological attacks, famine, violence, police state, and just about every fearful thing you could imagine.
Of course today I'm more aware, realistic, and don't take Alex Jones seriously any more (in fact I pretty much dislike him for it).
I live in America, I'm staying here, I'm preparing for the depression, I will get though it, and I will be along side my fellow freedom-loving Americans to do my part in restoring this nation and fulfilling the Revolution.
There is no where to run. We have to brave the storm and get though it.

Nowhere to run?
You have a point, but some places are safer than others. Iowa is probably safer than New York City. The Philippines are also a good place, and it's easy to go and live there. They are a peaceful people and living there is inexpensive and also quite beautiful.
Actually, I guess there are
Actually, I guess there are lots of places to run. But you'll find your share of problems in these other places too. Even a place that is nice today might not be so much in the future. And the adjustment to another culture and environment is not a simple thing.
Though I agree that within the States there are better places than other. For one, out of cities, rural, where there is water and land to grow food. I'm still working on figuring out where best to go within the country. There's a lot to consider.

zenpiper, good luck to you -- I hope you find
peace and happiness. That peaceful place is harder to find than you may suspect. I have friends in the Phillippines who personally knew two individuals who were murdered, in two entirely unrelated incidents in Manila.
And a third person received death threats. Anywhere that has high poverty and poor opportunities may breed anger and violence.
I'll be hoping all freedom seekers fare well and that we help turn around this country so you can happily return.
Manilla - you are right
.
Nasty place, but most big cities are. If you get out to the smaller islands where there are nice villages, the people are friendly and sweet. I am in the Marianas and there is no murder here - just petty stuff.
Thanks for surfacing.
Your post has gotten some thought provoking responses.

Fair weather patriot.
After we fix everything don't bother coming back. I wish the rest of your kind would join you. Why run from a new "world" order. Did you leave the planet? Are you really happy running from the fight? Whatever vagge.
oxen
Fix it first please
If you 'fix everything' I will applaud you. Tell me how you will do it, since no one else has been able to. Who is the 'your kind' you refer to? Those who value their lives and property? If the ship was sinking would you fight the ocean, or look for a raft?
Leaving should be considered okay
If they have the financial means to weather the storm and enhance their safety (and maybe children also) by temporarily moving to, say, Chile or Costa Rica, why would you object? Insisting that they should either stay and fight or leave and then stay away forever is collectivism. During the first Revolution, neither those who did not fight against the British nor even the Tories were told that they had to leave after the conflict. They were all Americans. I won't judge those who leave or beat my breast because I'm not leaving.
We also left the USA in 2008
We left as well. There is a time to work for change and then there is a time to let the change come the hard way. America needs to be burned to the ground before we can rebuild it again.

I agree. Sort of.
.
The notion of America being 'bured to the ground' is both terrifying and probaby right. Thing is, if there are nukes involved, then the ground would be ruined for eons.
A while back there was a lot of talk about the North American Union, growing out of the SPP. If the dollar tanks completely and there are no more jobs, then the NAU might be back on the table, and the U.S.A. - as we have known it - would just fizzle out, like a wet firecracker. The other possibility is the use of the 600 FEMA camps that are all over the U.S.A. If there are no jobs, money, services, then I could easily see the camps being used 'temporarily.'
Nobody knows what will happen, except that - whatever it is - it won't be pretty.
What right do you have
What right of entitlement do you think you have if you leave, let the ones that stay and fight to cleanup the problem, and then come back? Not trying to flame, just start a legitimate open minded discussion. IMO, those that stay and fight are the ones that have the most rights to what's left when all said and done. I'm fighting for my own freedom and anybody else that stayed and fight.
I am a free citizen
.
Ryan, if you want to fight, be my guest. I am older now and have little fight left. How will you fight unemployment? The declining dollar? And who, exactly will you fight? The Congress? The president? The FED? The CIA? How will you do it?
Last year we all thought Ron Paul had a chance. But the CFR guys elbowed him out (along with Kucinich and Gravell). Bad guys are in charge. No surprise. How will you fight them? What will you do, exactly?
I am still on U.S. soil, by the way - it's just far away from the mainland.
This is downright sad
First off I understand your position as we are all in it. What I do not understand is how you run and hide and call it "survival". Then you say you may be back someday once "it rights itself"....
It cannot right itself!! thats what we are for...and running away because it will not be easy is pathetic. Worst off you have no problem returning to enjoy the benefits that those of us who are willing to stay win back.
Let me give you a hint...Ron Paul is not the answer...electing him to president is not the solution. Sure it would have helped a whole lot, but it is not the MAN it is his IDEAS. We need to understand them. We need to live them and we need to show others.
Then you go on to claim that if only we had people in government who were willing to help, and people were not out for themselves...Are you even listening to Ron Paul? If your looking for a government that is helpful and and looks out for you more then I hope you moved to socialist country...or better yet stay here, were the nanny state will take care of you.
If you want change..then become that change. I suggest that you take a look at a video done by G. Edward Griffin called "An Idea Who's Time Has Come"
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6015291679758430958
Mr. Griffin talks about how "jumping off the sinking boat" is worthless if your jumping into the ocean. He suggests bailing the water and repairing the leaks.
one last thought from the founders:
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
- Samuel Adams
Thank you for posting this video. Griffin's analysis
of the "enemy" is so compelling, I think it deserves a separate post of its own. But for me the stream stopped a little more than half way through. Even so it was valuable. Later I'll try again to watch the whole video.
I did become change
.
Your argument is interesting, but you don't say how you are going to change anything, or to get others to go along with you. I know Ed Griffin's work well, and he's smart and right. But, compared with the governments around the world, Griffin has no clout. He has some avid readers and of course they think he's great, and he is. But he has no influence at the moment. The governments are too far gone, too corrupt for any kind of change at the moment.
The analogy of bailing out the boat doesn't, ah, hold water. If the boat is sinking, get a lifeboat or a raft. Jumping in the ocean is not an option.
Most in the position of authority...
You mentioned that few in a position of authority are ego driven. Due to the web that the few in power has spun, I believe that most in authority positions are ego driven as well. Being that many people are drawn into this web, the ego drive as you call it has trickled down into our society at every level including the "average joe".
With no high standards, base, principle, or correct direction people continue to walk ignorantly into the web of destruction not even realizing that there is total loss at the end of the road.
It is the job of those Ron Paul like minded individuals to step forward and take action in every possible way. Yes, I believe Ron Pauls message is true and still at the fore front of freedom. We must not give in to the deception that there is no hope. There will always be hope as long as we fight for it. America for the most part has lived above our means as well as believing ignorantly that gain is freedom. Fun and games are over. This country is being led by the blind. Freedom takes work on a daily bases.
If a person does not maintain a garden the weeds will take over. The weeds are taking over and it is time to pull the weeds.
Due to the number of weeds blisters will form which causes some discomfort, however if treated correctly the blisters turn into calluses. When the callus takes place of the blister and the strength from pulling the weeds kick in then the weeds are easier to pull and cut down.
We must do the same with the corruption in our society from top to bottom and not necessarily in that order.
Though I appreciate survival freedom is to great of a gift from our creator to think that we can just sit back and have it given to us with no effort. We will only find freedom after a price has been paid. That payment can only take place if we accept the responsibility given to us to have it. Many are robbing and stealing to live with no accountability for their actions. Their time of destruction will come if they do not change their ways. So we must set the standard for freedom. Let us bind together and overcome this challenge and build on the foundation that is still here within us.
I admire your determination
I think if I was in my 20s again I would be a rabble rouser and fight, as others have suggested I do. But I am older now and the fight has gone out of me. I cant' say I miss it, and I am not good at it anyway. I simply want to live quietly, without cold winters, or the likelihood of a FEMA camp in my future.
Sometimes I wish we could
Sometimes I wish we could all have one huge moneybomb for making a giant vessel that we could anchor in international waters and declare our independence from the rest of the asleep on this planet in hopes of waking them up. Imagine how that would be. A true *freedom island* where liberty is held in the highest esteem. For food there could be fishing and green houses and for drink there could be desalinization of the huge ocean surrounding us.
Im pretty sure we would probably get nuked or torpedo'ed though. Can't have people living on their own, making their own decisions. Everyone must kneel to the *benevolent* hand of the State.
good points
my dream is that we all move to Iowa and NH and insure the liberty candidate in presidential elections in 2012 wins those states.

It'd be great to have more liberty minded people here in Iowa.
goodby America
You are not the only one who has mentioned leaving our beloved country. I attend a Toastmaster group and one lady mentioned it in the group the other day. She said "if America continues to change, we are leaving.
I remember when people from other countries left their beloved lands to come here as the statue of liberty welcomed them. When they talked about their plight, my heart went out to them, being thankful our wonderful land was the heaven, maybe the only heaven. I still hope for a future here, but as you speak, I suspect it is over.
My next question is....Where in the world is there a free land. I've looked and see that there is none. New Zealand has promise but once the world economy crashes there is no place. Unless there is a promise of a new land somewhere, I will be one of many who go down with the ship yelling and shouting; think free, act free, talk free, live free.
So I still pray and hope...God bless America and restore our freedom.
Beloved
Oh P4P, the U.S. stopped being beloved when the CIA started messing things up at home and around the world, and took control of the media. This country hasn't bee free since the early 1970s, and probably well before that.
Now - where is there 'free land?' There are lots of U.S. - protected islands in the Pacific. Guam, Saipan, Rota, Tinian, Yap, Pelau, and others. They are pretty much off the radar. They are quite civilized, paved roads, English is spoken, food is good. The Philippines are also good, and it is easy to live there from what I hear, also inexpensive.
I'm curious...
What country did you move to? I'm giving serious thought to leaving the US, but I'm not convinced it would be any better overseas. It seems that it would just be trading one set of problems for another.
Didn't leave the country
The U.S. has islands in the Pacific - quite a few. Guam is one, and there are others just north of it: Rota, Tinian, Saipan. And, if you are a 'mainlander' there is always work available, esp if you can teach. I think that the Federated States of Micronesia are under U.S. protection also.
Ever read "Lord Jim" ?
hopefully there will be some freedom minded people left to bring us back.
I agree
I hope so too. But I don't see anything positive happening for at least 3 years maybe 4. By then the world will have changed utterly. That's my view, anyway, and I might be wrong.
RIP U.S.A
