How do we get the Libertarian and Constitution Parties to Nomminate Dr Paul
Submitted by Skyorbit on Fri, 11/16/2007 - 21:27When Paul goes into the Republican Convention, it would be nice to know that he's got the official Endorsement of the 2 largest third parties in America. That will give him some good leverage to Win the Republican nomination.

Don't need it
Winning the GOP nomination makes the CP & LP nominations irrelevant. Many from the CP, as previously posted, said there will be no need to run a Prez candidate if RP wins the GOP nom. LP polls show 75% of the LP already support Dr. Paul. Also Steve Kubby, one of the main contenders for the LP Prez nom. has already endorsed Dr. Paul & if Paul wins the GOP, then Kubby will not try for the LP nom. & instead will do whatever he can to help Paul.
Also, the LP convention isn't until May of 2008, so there is plenty of time to build more momentum & make any decisions that may need to be made next spring.

The reason this is a good idea.
Libertarian, Constitution, Reform Party all can also vote in the Republican Primary if they register the right way and as the nominating process for the 3rd party is not state by state and is late next year they could still participate in their own caucus. He could win the Republican Primary and then get endorsed by the others locking a win for Republicans (A good Green Party would split the liberals). If he can not get the Republican Nod he could have the greatest United 3rd Party run ever seen.
Actually. There have been
Actually. There have been several local Green parties who have endorsed Ron Paul already.

Not Our Business - Focus on Winning The Republican Nod
And I say that even though I invite you all to join the Libertarian Party. I'll be at the convention next year, but it's not until Memorial Day in May. By then most of the primaries will be over.
Furthermore, and this is why it's not our business, no party will nominate someone before finding out if the candidate would accept. I think Ron Paul is being as clear as he can be about his plans.
At least one of our candidates (maybe 2) have endorsed him, already, and many of us are supporting his run, but there are reasons why it may not be possible or desireable for the Libertarian Party to nominate him. Although it sure will be an interesting convention.
It's always possible that Ron Paul could go into the Republican nominating convention without being in the lead, but win enough delegates over. That won't happen until (September ?). He probably would not be helped by endorsements from alternative parties if that's the case.
It's a waste of time to speculate, now. Please resume your helpful activities!

I respectfully disagree. The
I respectfully disagree. The correct answer is to look at this as it is, one battle in a political revolution that will take many battles. Just as Ron knows and deep down inside you all know this too is that to win you must play inside the rules or within the system. My favorite line from SLC Punk which holds true here as much as it did in the movie is....
"You can do a lot more damage inside the system than you can from outside of it."
I'd say focus that energy into mounting local "like minded" individuals to run as Libertarian-Republican for the Republican nomination for a local office, whether that office be for a Federal Senate Seat, State Senate Seat or even a Town Council seat. In order to truly win, we need a ton of small victories as well within the Republican party. Then and only then can we begin to change things. After all, President Paul or any President like him that may come as a result of his campaign, liken Goldwater to Reagan, will need a congress he or she can work with.
Not to "dis" on libertarians at all, but for the most part we are all like "herding cats". This is the most effective I have ever seen us be collectively and why?.... because we are attempting to work within a large group to make a change. You see my friend, that is where your logic is flawed, that is, small groups working from outside will always remain just that, outside.... but, when we work collectively as a small group within a larger group.. we become effective, we win!!! A scientific survey and I wish I could remember where I saw it stated that 25 % of Americans, after taking the survey, were classified as libertarians, however, where are they on election day? Point in case m8, I hope you don't take offense to this.
Cheers,
Your friend in liberty
I'm just saying it might be
I'm just saying it might be easier for him to Win the Republican nomination, if he new going into it in July, that He already had a high percentage of the general ellection vote locked up.

Libertarians
This is from the latest Liberator Online Newsletter--here's a link http://www.theadvocates.org/liberator/vol-12-num-21.html
A lot of really good stuff--like isolationism vs. non-interventionism and Political Taunting instead of real debate/discussion and how to combat it. But here is one piece they wrote specifically about the RP campaign. I think it is a kind of tacit endorsement. This came out yesterday.
GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS, UNBELIEVABLE NEWS
by James W. Harris
The Latest Ron Paul Fraud
Newspapers and TV shows have been buzzing with reports that libertarian
Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul raised over 4 million dollars in
just 24 hours, on November 5.
If true, that would be the largest amount of money any Republican presidential
candidate this year has raised in a single day. In fact, that's remarkably
close to the most successful presidential fundraising day ever in American
history: John Kerry's $5.7 million -- and that happened only after Kerry
accepted the Democratic presidential nomination, not in the days before the
primaries.
But of course this cannot be true. It has to be some kind of trick.
After all, every savvy political observer knows that Ron Paul has just a
handful of fanatical supporters.
When he started winning virtually all of the online polls, it was clear this
was the work of just a few pro-Paul nuts, with computers and far too much time
on their hands, endlessly spamming the polls.
When Technorati, which ranks popularity in the blogosphere, announced that "Ron
Paul" was the number one Internet search term, that was obviously just more
spam trickery by the miniscule but diabolically active Paul cult. When Ron
Paul's YouTube channel reached over 30,000 subscribers last month -- far more
than any other presidential candidate, and making him his channel the 39th most
popular YouTube channel of all time -- it was just more of the same.
When he won almost every phone-in poll after each nationally-televised debate,
once again it was clear to all right-thinking observers that it had to be the
same few Ron Paul fanatics, dialing over and over again, somehow getting past
blockers the networks put in place to make that impossible.
When he started winning or scoring high in numerous local GOP straw polls, it
was obviously just the same tiny crew, now frantically traveling state to state
and using false IDs to make it appear Paul had lots of supporters. No doubt
this same handful are the ones who greet Ron Paul, cheering and waving signs,
wherever he goes.
The more than 1,000 Ron Paul meet-up groups, in over 800 cities, who have put
on over 12,000 events so far... just more trickery and manipulation by this
small but determined band.
Ditto for the countless thousands of handmade Ron Paul signs that have
seemingly popped up spontaneously across the country. The tiny Paul cabal
probably does it while they're racing across the country to keep up with Paul's
campaign appearances.
I frankly haven't figured out yet how this small group of isolated loners and
fringe crazies, as they're often described, has managed to fool everyone into
believing they raised over four million dollars in one day. But it obviously
must be just another trick.
Because, if it's not a trick, it would mean that Ron Paul -- and his
libertarian message of peace, civil liberties, economic freedom and limited
government -- has far greater support than much of the media has ever imagined.
And that couldn't be true.
Could it?
Is it possible?
Can Ron Paul be nominated by multiple parties? It sure would be cool if he was on the ballot three times--Republican, Libertarian, and Constitution. What would the establishment think of that?
"Free government is founded in jealousy, and not in confidence; it is jealousy and not confidence which prescribes limited constitutions." Thomas Jefferson, Kentucky Resolutions of 1798
Technically, the Libertarian Party can't
Here in Maryland this question was posed, and according to the Libertarian Party Constitution they can't nominate somebody who is running under another party. They can, however, not have a nominee per se, and say "We endorse Ron Paul."
Constitution Party
The 2004 CP candidate, Chuck Baldwin, endorsed RP last week. That's the main reason I am now supporting RP.
Here's his article where he endorses RP:

I have been talking to all my Christian friends ever since, and can't wait until Thanksgiving! It's at our house, and they will have to walk right past the RP yard sign and the cars in the driveway with the RP stickers on them!!! YEEEEE-HAW! :)

Mr. Peroutka too
Michael Peroutka was the 2004 CP Prez candidate. Baldwin was the VP candidate. Anyhow, both have now given their endorsement, and both have been very influential in the CP. Rick Jore, a CP state rep in Montana, has also given his endorsement of Paul, among others.
