UPDATE: I received my U.S. passport!
I posted a blog earlier, chronicling my frustrations with the Dept. of State as well as with my State Senator, Kay Bailey Hutchinson's, office.

(I filled out the application in early October, and received it in early JANUARY!!)
Well, after a month of arguing with the federal government, they finally agreed to give me a passport if I submitted them 3 more forms of identification (the first 2 being Minnesota and Texas ID cards), and that I wouldn't need to fill out the uber-intrusive Supplemental Worksheet. (YAY!!!)
Since I was home visiting for the holidays, this was pretty easy to do. I just sent them a newspaper article, a baptismal certificate (felt really icky about this one...), and my vaccination records (I STILL feel uneasy about this one...).
Their reasoning for all of the extra work? A driver's license is a primary source of identity, whereas state IDENTIFICATION cards, are secondary sources for identity. Since I don't have a driver's license, they wanted 5 evidences of my identity along with an 8-page supplemental worksheet that was really detailed and nasty.
They also said that they believed {rucdelaspook} was a US Citizen (I brought it up), since he DID have a long-form birth certificate from Texas. They said that they just didn't have confirmation that "I" was {rucdelaspook}. It was my identity that was in question, not my citizenship, and without a Driver's license it took a whole bunch of documentation just to prove this. (the auto industry wins again...)
So all is well now... I didn't get to go to Mexico like I had told them (I never planned on it anyway... I just wanted to put some pressure on them to get this resolved), but why would I, with all the carnage that's going on right now?

I just hope the RFID chip doesn't get bent, or folded, or busted, in the process of travelling... that would be unfortunate.
Thanks for your support, DP-ers!

I just have to say how much I enjoy the 'intelligent' wit and
banter that takes place like this on this site. I just have to laugh and enjoy the joy. It is one of the few sites I know of that is so interesting like this from time to time.
"Yes, I've heard that those RFID chips attract hammers..." hahahaha!
I love the Daily Paul...
it's changed the way I look at life (with skepticism). In 5 days, I will have been a member for a whole year! (I was a lurker before that...)
The Daily Paul and the Campaign for Liberty are my favorite websites! :)
I had to put this up again

Do NOT let them come in contact with the back of huge speakers.
Failure to follow these safety procedures could cause the chip to malfunction.

You are awesome, sir. Too bad U.S. employers aren't forced to be so rigorous when hiring people from across the border...
