To those on the DP who support tariffs

I don't know if this means anything to you (that's fine if it doesn't), but here's what Ron has said (from here) regarding his strong opposition to them:

a)

"Remember, tariffs are simply taxes on consumers."

b)

"As economist Henry Hazlitt explained, tariffs simply protect politically-favored special interests at the expense of consumers, while lowering wages across the economy as a whole. Hazlitt, Ludwig von Mises, Friedrich Hayek, Murray Rothbard, and countless other economists have demolished every fallacy concerning tariffs, proving conclusively that unilateral elimination of tariffs benefits the American people."

Nice find

Non-uniform tariffs are a bad idea. Uniform tariffs across all goods are slightly better, but still a terrible idea if you value prosperity. Hong Kong had no tariffs and they were an great example of the power of unregulated, free market economies.
