Thanks alot- I've been Banned.... HELP!!!

All this commotion over one person. Hmmmm. Kind of seems like we have better things to do with our time... like getting Ron Paul elected.

Ordinarily I'm very patient with people, but I've got a hair trigger for high-maintenance attention whores within this effort. Self-control or out you roll. After the election deadline, we can sit around and play psychonanny with each other.

OK...let's set aside the argument over whether or not you should be banned, because this is Mike Nystrom's site and he can do whatever he wants.

He emailed you and offered to discuss this.

Your way of handling it? You were banned, which is a clear signal that you're not welcome (at this time) on his site. So you circumvented that and posted a selfish forum topic asking for "help." What kind of help? Are you trying to insult the owner on his own site?

Look, we all support Dr. Paul. Go to bed, wake up tomorrow with a clear head, and I'm sure everyone can work something out.

Manystrom has been very fair about this. He has even offered to let you have your old name back (tomorrow). He was even further patient with you when you signed up under a new user name after he banned you. And still he is willing to let you back on in the morning.

I admire your passion and your support of the Good Doctor, but...these approaches are not going to effect how big the 16th will be. Relax! :) Your Tea Party is started and you can bet that many more than those who are signed up will donate (as I did on 11-05). We are making history with every dollar we send (whether 10 minutes from now or at the Tea Party).

Well, I moderate another board and I must say after reading through this thread that Michael has shown a tremendous amount of restraint. It's pretty obvious that the last thing that he wants to do is ban a Ron Paul supporter from dailypaul, but who can blame him for not wanting disruptive influences on his site? And just whose call is it, anyway? There is only one guy by whose sufferance we are all allowed here. That's the guy who builds the site, pays the bills, and loves Dr. Paul enough to have created this magnificent gathering place for us. The bottom line is this: if he doesn't like you, you're gone, and nobody else will stand up for you either if that's the case. It's Michael's board. We're Michael's guests. We're all here for one purpose. Try to find a way to fit in. Nobody wants you out, but you are not the leader here. Dr. Paul is our leader, and Michael is our enabler. If you intend to stay here then you must stop speaking of the "liberty" and "freedom" to speak your mind on Michael's site. This is not a government operated board. There is no freedom of speech here. It's a dictatorship and the dictator is the guy who pays. If you come into somebody's house, you don't GET to say what you want. You have to abide by his guidelines and act in a way that HE finds acceptable. So find a way to get on his good side or he'll regretfully boot your butt. I would hate to see you go. It think it's apparent that Michael does not want you to go either, but you are sucking too much energy from our cause to maintain your presence. I do hope that you can convince him otherwise, but if not, then sayonara, my friend.

Those of us who support Ron Paul need to be positive. Daily Paul is a high volume site. Having some Paul supporters smearing others is just bad for business. It's not constructive.

D.A. is the one who started a thread, all caps, calling those who disagree with him on when we can/should donate to Dr. Paul "trolls". That was way out of bounds. It brought on plenty of attacks from people offended by it, which DA then responded to in like manner. I tried to keep my criticism in that thread professional and adult, but part of me wanted to crawl into the mud and start slinging as well.

Michael posted the very first reply in that thread, asking DA to "chill out". Good advice. Too bad it wasn't followed. He has been extremely tolerant to let this thread continue and give the banned user a second chance and a place to vent about being banned.

I really think DA just needs to get a good night's sleep. A cooling off period of a day or two won't hurt - December 16 is still 4 weeks away. Don't worry, D.A., we'll do fine. And a few bucks donated here and there in the mean time won't upset the apple cart.

of trying to get attention. I think this is the underlying motive. I know especially when I first started posting a few years ago it was kind of a rush to blurt out whatever and see all the responses. I still have to catch myself from being motivated by the desire for attention. I think DevilsAdvocate is sincere in his desire to work for RP. But we all are at a different place.

Michael is certainly within his rights to do as he see fit and DA you can learn a lot by not saying anything for a couple days. Try limiting your posts to one per day for awhile and check your motivation before you click on the submit button. Good luck everyone ; )

And using the word 'troll' unless it is very obvious they are trolls is probably not the way to go. It did cross my mind too that they might be trolls but I know I can be paranoid (looks like both of us).

It's a very free and open forum and I think that's great.

From memory I think you have always been a loyal dailypaul poster, and so I think a warning would have been more appropriate. However, it is manystrom's call and I will respect his decision.

I BANNED YOU TO GET YOUR ATTENTION.

1. DO YOU THINK YOU CAN LAY OFF THE ALL CAPS KEY?
2. Stop telling people what to do. You can suggest people do something or another, but not COMMAND THEM!
3. You're accusing people who have a different idea from you of being TROLLS. That is not cool, man. Who are you to go accusing others - who are not trolls - of being trolls?
4. Your abrasive manner tends to start fights. Based on what you throw out there carelessly, look at what comes back at you. You're disruptive.

Think about these overnight, will you.

Why did I ban you? Because you're disruptive. I sent you the above email as a "time out" so you could chill and think about it, but instead you chose this tactic.

but I thought they were a little headstrong. I got the feeling that you were trying to order people as to what they should do. I think we all support Dr. Paul because we DON'T want someone ordering us around. I can appreciate your thoughts and ideas, I just think a different approach of suggesting rather than ordering would work better and cause less friction. Just my two cents which is valueless in terms of frns.
