What is it for?

I have worked 35 years and been a productive member of society. I just wonder what society I was contributing to? I equate it to the Roman times when we had the peasants/servants and the elite. They will give you this falsehood that you have a vote, a voice, and they represent YOU. Yeah right. Do I own my home? No, just rent when the bank, city and county get through with you.
