Niall Ferguson on The Colbert Report Explains Money
Submitted by voterp on Wed, 01/14/2009 - 02:42
Did anyone see Colbert? It was good about the history of money.
Finally mainstream explains it a little to the masses.
The Colbert Report Tuesday January 13, 2009
Niall Ferguson explains money as a relationship between a creditor and a debtor. (06:16)
»

Creditor/Debtor Relationship and Admiralty Law.
At one minute into the clip Mr. Ferguson defines money. He then adds that 'he prefers to think of it as a relationship between a creditor and a debtor.'
This is not a frivolous mental exercise...this view is at the very root of our problems.
When you engage in a creditor/debtor relationship, as opposed to trading, you are assumed to be engaging in commerce. This puts your activities under a different category of law, that of equity or Maritime/Admiralty Law. It is through this legal structure, literally superimposed upon the edifices and structures of our original and constitutionally sanctioned common law, that the freedoms we believed by all rights we had are usurped.
As almost every act of cooperation between two persons in this country involves the use of money(FRN's), from buying a coffee to taking an airplane, from receiving your paycheck to paying your taxes, to see these transactions as creditor/debtor relationships allows the jurisdiction of Maritime/Admiralty Law to prevail ubiquitously.
Ever wonder why it seemed there were two sets of law. The law they taught you in school and the law they actually practiced in the courts. This is why.

thanks for the link
I really needed a good laugh today.
Now Colbert has to have on the Doctor to explain
the rest of it, and how to get out of it. If money is based on the belief in it, now that everyone is laughing at it, we are very quickly doomed without an escape plan. Dr Paul could explain a route
I love Colbert
especially when he was on "Strangers With Candy" alongside Amy Sedaris. Although I still think he's a liberal NWO shill, he's a funny guy.

Wrong Wrong!
Niall's correct when he discusses some parts, but then talks about them as though they're great! At least he was honest about paper money being worthless, and that it's based on "faith." Unfortunately, with B. Hussein Obama coming into power, people will have more faith in government than during this dismal Bush era. We're so screwed.
"Invisible money?! .... So how do oyu know if someone's steals it?"
"You trust the banks, don't you? .... they loan it out all the time."
Please, Lord, tell me that some people watching the show heard that and decided to go research the topic. If millions of people the world over hear that and think, "oh well, whatever," then we really are doomed.
New Hampshire Free State Project, anyone? Republic of Texas? These options are more and more credible with every passing day.
He`s written a biography of the Rothschilds

The House of Rothschild: Volume 1: Money's Prophets: 1798–1848[11]
The House of Rothschild: Volume 2: The World's Banker: 1849–1999[12]
He must have been granted access to the "family archives".
I`ve met him (Mr Ferguson) in Europe after a speech he had given at a business conference. I`ve asked him about Ron Paul (it was May 2007). He knew him but said he had "no chance".

I remember that book,
I struggled through volume II only to realize that this guy is an illuminati pawn. Ferguson geniusly paints the Rothschild's as hardworking entreprenuers with some more or less innocent luck, devoid of any corruption. I was certain after the first few chapters of the book that he was paid by the Rothschild clan to write it.
Than I saw him on Colbert peddling the the fraudulent central banking sceme and was sickened. He actually had the nerve to deny what the symbol on the back of the FRN means. I am certain he is on the Rothschild's payroll.
Colbert
I don't think Colbert would cry under a New World Order either.
Screw Niall and his slick "message"
Niall is a pro-central bank talking piece setting people up for the establishment solution to our present "crisis". Listen to his lack of real soultions... this young. dashing, harvard/oxford grad - establishment propoganda tool.
He says money can be anything. No wrong... how about currency can be anything, money can only be tangible goods that are scarce and hard to duplicate.
Piss off you one world banking order shill !!!!

that was a great interview. pretty much lays it on the line: money today is faith.
I pledge, do you?
Colbert!
We've gotta stop the, "He's one of us!" stuff.
But he's an awesome performer!
That was fun.

To me, it almost sounded
To me, it almost sounded like this Mr. Ferguson is trying to subtly push the electronic money idea. First get your audience to see the silliness in something, then subtly place the agenda.
"Money is nothing! It's worthless! Why do we carry it in our pockets?"

You have to watch his show several times to understand
that the personality he plays on TV is a totally parody and dig at hypocritical conservatives. Once you get it, you will see that he is really trying to expose the new-cons and their shallow, sell-centered mindset.
I like Colbert
I like Colbert, sometimes I find myself ripping my hair out though over what seems to be terribly anti-free market jokes though. He really needs to be educated. After watching him for a long time he really does seem to be anti free market. He may be making the same mistake that many others make of associating the free market with corporatism which are polar opposites.
"It is the responsibility of the patriot to protect his country from its government."

"Endless money forms the sinews of war." - Cicero, www.freedomshift.blogspot.com
Don't underestimate his subtle and high level of parody!
This guy is one of the smartest comedians ever. He's operates on the same level of satire as George Carlin and has more skills than Carson.
The character he is trying to expose, (once you understand it's all a spoof) is a self-centered neo-con who only cares about himself and his money. Once you get it, you then will understand all of the subtleties of his show including his guest like Ron Paul, Crosby, Stills and Nash and Paul Simon. He claims to like Bush, it's a spoof. He claims to idolize Bill Riley - it's a spoof.
This money guy Fugerson was also brought on for a purpose, which was to give people a brief glimpse of the imaginary and fraudulent nature of money.
Most people don't initially see through the facade. But keep watching and it will soon become obvious! This guy is brilliant and so are his writers!
Colbert Fan
I know many people wont pay attention to whats really going on..So they look for mindless empty tv....But even though on the surfice..Colbert seems to be pure mindless....it does ..with some..strike a small spark...it gets a few to wondering..to thinking...Could that be true?...And that leads them to the net..to looking it up...and to find the conflicting views...One from government and those who spin it..The other from the truthers....some decide to believe the spin..others ..not so sure..so they dig deeper..and deeper...and Truth sits in..
So yes..I am a Colbert fan..for his humor...his less known good deeds..and most of all..for the spark.
Freedom is another way to God...A corrupt government is a straight way to hell.
I believe in Hope & Change..I Hope the government will Change

Holy crap! Stephen Colbert is one of us!
I always kind of suspected but after watching that I am 100 percent sure. He asked, "Is this backed by anything?" and brought up "the Illuminati." He's clearly at least familiar. I'm not mad that he's cracking jokes because the truth is, he's raising more awareness about this in young people than we are by shoving it down their throats. It's amazing, if you'd asked me a year ago if I ever thought they'd even TALK about fiat money on TV I would have said never. But now there is a PBS show about it and all these TV stations are talking about it.

Niall Ferguson's TV program on money was a travesty.
He's either evil or stupid. I can't decide which.
"That Socialism would be immediately practicable if an omnipotent and omniscient Deity were personally to descend to take in hand the government of human affairs is incontestable." - Ludwig Von Mises.
Really?
Eheh. Now I have to see it!
It was shown on Channel 4 in Britain.
Its called "The Ascent of Money". I think he has a book out with the same title. I watched episode one and I was practically screaming at the TV. It felt like he was attempting to mentally ass rape the viewer. It was that bad.
Don't get me wrong, I never expected to be thrilled with the broadcast. I guessed that he wouldn't be an Austrian economist. But if he was a sincere Chicago School, Keynesian or even Marxian economist, I might have been interested.
No such luck! He doesn't seem to be honest advocate of anything. He thinks that Spain and Portugal suffered hyperinflation because the conquistadors stole too much gold and silver. If only they had used fiat money.
In England we have a word for men like him.

I hate Colbert, and everything he stands for. He makes a joke
of everything, from people suffering at the hands of corrupt corporate thieves to political monsters ruining the freedoms of millions around the globe.
I have no time for such foolishness in my life knowing what’s going in this country, let alone the rest of the world. To me he's nothing more than a gum-bumping asshole jerk!

Parody
His character is based on none other than Bill O'Reilly. That is why he seems like such a jerk! By exaggerating O'Reilly's mannerisms and attitudes, he exposes Bill for the fool he is.
A lot of people don't know that. I didn't know it for a long time. But watch O'Reilly and watch Colbert, and you'll see the similarities. Colbert is a genius of our time.
Well, not only will you see it
but they both talk about it all the time. Or at least they did back when I watched O'Reilly well over a year ago.
Mocking
Colbert gives the neo-cons the treatment they deserve. He mocks them.
Believe what you will, but he doesn't stop there, he mocks ever
thing and everybody. I have no time for such behavior in these times!

and takes a pot shot at all of those jerk off reporters who dropped the ball in the run up to the Iraq War is alright by me.
Here's a video of it... in case any of you missed it.
