FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 14, 2009

Indiana State Senator Files Gold Money Bill Senate Bill 453, The Indiana Honest Money Act Indiana Picks Up Where New Hampshire Left Off !

Indianapolis, Indiana -- State Senator Greg Walker of District 41, (R-Columbus), has officially filed a Bill that would allow Indiana to offer its citizens a choice of Gold (and Silver) coin or the Electronic equivalent in payable and receivable transactions with the state. This bold bill will finally bring Indiana back into conformance with the Constitution for the United States of America which states "No state shall...make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts..." Article 1, Section 10.

The Indiana Honest Money Act will be voluntary for citizens, but mandatory for certain, specialized businesses and will allow Indiana to fund the Treasury with enough assets insuring that no current state funds will need to be earmarked. S.B. 453 is NOT a replacement for Federal Reserve Notes, but more of a competing, Constitutional currency and an insurance policy for our current, tenuous "money" system.

Indiana is picking up where New Hampshire left off in their attempt to get essentially the same Bill passed back in 2003 and 2005. The Bill was written by eminently qualified Constitutional Money Scholar and practicing Constitutional Lawyer, Dr. Edwin Vieira of Virginia. Jerry Titus of Kokomo, a Senior Field Service Engineer, worked to take New Hampshire's Constitutionally compliant wording of Dr. Vieira's Bill, and adapted it for Indiana's unique purposes.

This exciting juncture is only the beginning of S.B. 453 as it needs to be approved by the Tax and Fiscal Committee for House consideration, etc., and will probably be subject to debate and possible amendments. There will be about 700 Bills under consideration in the current Legislature and only about 200 will survive to be voted on.

Here is the official wording for S.B. 453:

Special thanks to all who worked so hard to get S.B. 453 to this auspicious point.

The problem with the b-metal

The problem with the b-metal system is when they peg one to the other. Will gold and silver be pegged to each other or will they compete with each other. Consider that there is much more available silver in the earth's crust, about 70 times more, it should, if pegged it should be done so at a 70-1 ratio.
grant

why not just use the amounts noted in the Constitution?

I mean ... the Founding Fathers.. knew what they were doing when they put it in there...

..imagine constitutional money....

I think we should be careful about the term "Gold Standard"

Supposedly, we were on the gold standard from 1913 until the mid 1900's (bretton-woods or whatever made it irredeemable by citizens)... but even during that time, we still had government destroying the currency. That's why bretton-woods and then 1971 happened, because the government was printing more money than they had gold and finally they realized the "gig was up"--they could no longer perpetuate the farce. So... I don't think we want a "gold standard" as it was before since that could just result in the same undesirable monetary policies the government has been doing all along.

So... I wonder if there is a better phrase we could use instead of "gold standard" since we do not want ONLY redeemability/convertability... we want real fully backed commodity money--either certificates/receipts or the commodity itself.

perhaps there is... but most people.. responds and understand

a currency that is backed by gold/silver as a gold standard currency.

Should this make it into law..... We will finally have a challenge to the current FED monopoly on our money supply. Which will stabilize the economy there in Indiana,,,, and would open the floodgates to many states doing the same thing

Imagine people lining up and transferring their money out of Federal Reserve notes ...into the new Indiana currency?? this would gain much press.. and would signal the end of the FED....

SB 453 - The Indiana Honest Money Act

Hi folks,

Need to chip in here and dispel this...

Dr. Viera's model legislation, introduced in New Hampshire as the GoldMoney bill, in Indiana as the Indiana Honest Money Act (SB 453),

DOES NOT REESTABLISH a Gold Standard.

It restablishes the use of silver and gold as an ALTERNATE currency to the FRN - trading in the free market at BULLION values (grams or ounces troy).

As well as establishing standards for use of precious metal coinage, the act(s) introduce and codifies the use of the Digital Gold Currency industry.

Why SB 453 - the Indiana Honest Money Act?

The Intent Of The Gold/Sound Money Bill

About 80 minutes into this 90 minute video - Dr. V talks in depth about his model 'Electronic Gold Currency' legislation.

Economic Federalism - Dr. Vieira

Jerry Titus
Webmaster - Indiana Honest Money

so should we call it the gold and silver standard?

I mean ... bottom line the money they issue will be backed by gold/silver right?

Thanks for this update, Jerry!

Alternate currency to the FRN - is the way to go!

:-D

I'd be one of those people!

Just emailed every California state senator

Here is the email I sent:

Hello,

With our great state's current fiscal mess rapidly escalating out of control, it is time we followed the lead of the state of Indiana and return our state to sound money as outlined in Article One, Section 10 of the constitution for the United States of America. Details of the bill can be found here:

http://www.in.gov/apps/lsa/session/billwatch/billinfo?year=2...

Please initiate a similar bill into the California legislature as soon as possible, and persuade your colleagues to support it as well. This will be an excellent first step toward returning sound fiscal policies to the world's eighth largest economy.

Sincerely,
Vincent Mross
Glendale

"The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is... legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay ... If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system."

great job!!

YOU WOULD THINK EVERYONE HERE WOULD JUMP ALL OVER THIS!!!!

AND WORK AROUND THE CLOCK TO GET THIS TO GO THROUGH!!

People say they want to have a gold standard... they say they want to END THE FED...

but deep down how many of them will lift a finger to take real actions that can do that??

THANKS.. FOR BEING ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE

Thx for the email addresses!

I did it; I sent them all a message about this issue. Took a little time, but its worth it.

hey all, please sign this petition if you are interested

hey nice petition..... couple questions

---who is this being presented to?

-- should only people from Indiana sign it?

-- Isn't it best if people contact every single Indiana State representative, and state Senator to let them know to support this bill??? (vie email, fax, and phone?)

jdayh

honestly, i'm not sure if only indiana people should sign it- i would say not since there are some from other states already signed. who is it being presented to? i'm not sure- i will get that answer for you. i know it is for the committees and the floor if it gets there but not sure which ones. i have sent letters to everyone on the list (senators, congressmen etc.) here in indiana including every editor of every paper i could find AND a special letter to the treasurer asking for his support..

Richard Mourdock,

I read your entire website and am here to help you obtain your goals!! The best way for you to ensure Indianas economic future is to stand behind Senate Bill 453. Please know that this bill IS the future of Indiana. As Treasurer, you must be aware of the impending collapse of the Privately owned Federal Reserve notes. By supporting Senate Bill 453, you will help to ensure that the people of Indiana will be able to move forward in the near future by NOT succumbing to irresponsible fiat money crashes, but instead enjoy the stability that Gold and Silver have ALWAYS held throughout History. Be part of the solution to this economic mess and stand for Freedom and Liberty in the interest of Hoosiers State wide! This is your opportunity to create the future and lead us into SOUND money. Think of it this way, not only will Indiana folks thank you, but other states will be sure to follow this unprecedented move to fiscal responsibility, moral accountability and Constitutionally acceptable money!! This may be THE most important Bill EVER in the History of Indiana!!
thank you,

~peace

~peace

thanks for your response....

...and I look forward to you finding out what answers you can...(It does seem that the petition should be signed by Indiana voters..since they are the ones this affects...

You do realize that if all the meetup groups in Indiana alone were contacted.. and they were organized to do any/all of the following... that THIS BILL WOULD MOST LIKELY PASS..AND GAIN TREMENDOUS PRESS!!!

--- get meetups to do petition drives around their state.. (like in front of grocery stores... or door to door (you may even be able to get this on the ballot for the general public to vote on should the legislatures drop the ball..)

---Stage one day rally's/picketing outside of the state Legislature..passing out brochures/literature on this bill. (every single congressman/senator there would become rapidly aware of the bills popularity!!!)

-- visit --EN MASS!!-- each representatives(or the key ones.. on the right committees) office with handwritten letters from each and all the meetups in the state of Indiana... requesting/demanding.. this bill be supported!!!!

--- rally/picketing outside of the governors mansion should it make it to his desk..(just in case he is pressured to veto it..)

-- and of course coordinated email campaigns to all press..and representatives on this issue say weekly all on the same day .... OUR VOICES WOULD BE HEARD....and would cause each member of the house/senate to seriously take on this bill as a means to strengthen and solidify the economy in Indiana... (I bet hundreds or thousands of people would move there if it became law!!)

jdayh

jerry titus- (mentioned in the article) set up the petition and i am not sure what he plans to use it for. i know it is going to the house, but he may use it for other purposes as well, i really don't know without talking to him directly. i will continue to update you as i get further info....

Sent to all 21 of Nevada's state senators:how I did it

To do this as fast and painlessly as possible, you need to open 3 folders on your desktop. First, keep this page open so you can right-click on the link above ( http://www.in.gov/apps/lsa/session/billwatch/billinfo?year=2...). You will only need it once, but keep it open anyway.
Second, get on the page that lists all the e-mails of your state's state senators. I found mine by searching key words" nevada state senators." Right-click Copy the Shortcut of the first senator from the list. Keep that page open, too.
Next go to your e-mail composing page, and right-click Paste that email address in on top. Subject: ...I just said "Introduce a similar bill here in NV". Body "This is what Indiana is doing, since ..... (fill in your own words here). Then right-click and Copy that body paragraph and SEND it off.
To compose the next to all the rest, get on the Compose page, right-click Paste the Body in, Subject will fill in with one "I" then choose your sentence (at least yahoomail does this), go back to senator page and right-click Copy the Shortcut of the next senator, fill in on composing page in "To" and BEFORE YOU SEND, right-click copy the Body (or Message) again, so you can Paste it into the next on your list.
Typing this took longer than sending my message to our senators, but your state probably has lots more and without a "system", it will take you forever. Have some good music on as you work your "assembly line" of e-mails for liberty!

wow--educated, efficient , and smart.... perhaps people will

read what you did ..and take action..

I mean think about this people!!! IF THE 100-400 PEOPLE who visit this site daily.. did this..and they all demanded.. that 10 people they know do the same.. that would be over 4000 people who would /could contact their reps!!!

and everyone could contact them all (meaning all 50 states) right there from the easy chair.... allowing a flood of correct action legislation to take place.. in many states across the nation...

...now what would happen if we did the same for the media contacts for Indiana down below???

I mean if every one of those media contacts got 4000 emails on this topic... ONE OR MORE WOULD RUN A STORY ON THIS!!!! creating a ground swell of more support!!!

Thank you, jdayh

If I get some time this weekend and anybody needs some help with their state senators, I would be happy to assist.

Thanks for the excellent news Jdayh!

least one of our 50 nation-states.... here is a list of emails.. where from where you sit..you can wage a ground /internet war to recover our freedom to have an honest money system once more!!!
