Can We Trust the GOP?
Submitted by yankee on Thu, 01/15/2009 - 12:08The Republican National Convention had planned to violate federal law by using federal troops to suppress and/or infringe the rights of free speech and assembly during the recent Republican national convention. According to the ACLU, several named agencies are military based, a violation of federal laws prohibiting the use of the military in domestic intelligence gathering activities. It is also a violation of the First Amendment to the US Constitution.

Of course not.
But it will be fun to show up at the next round of conventions so I can say "I told you so."

Not with both eyes and a gun on them! If we take the party over, one precinct at a time, however, that would change.

Trust individual members only.
There are still some good people out there drinking the Kool-Aid, as most of you all were a few years ago.
The party itself is loathsome to the cause of Liberty.

No, no,
a thousand times NO.
the question is not whether
the question is not whether parties can be trusted ... it is pretty obvious that none of them can be trusted ...
if you want to place trust in something place it in yourself ... refusing to be part of the system is a personal choice ... but there sure are a lot of liberty minded individuals who are choosing not to take advantage of the situation when we have endless opportunities

The GOP is owned. We need a new party that can attract the liberty minded people away from the GOP and back to a constitition based party. In my opinion.

-MY OPS ARE BLACKER THAN YOUR OPS-
Not enough support for a new party in our ranks.
I was the lone voice crying out in the wilderness on this for almost a year, and I can tell you it will never gain traction. Nobody wants to struggle with the ballot access issues. Plus any new party really needs the help of the wealthy to get on the map.
I think a secondary idea might be to try to take over the Constitution Party or the Libertarian Party, and use both of them as ideological vessels.
