Evolution or Extinction

Evolution or Extinction - the Bigger Picture

Last night I was watching a Discovery Channel DVD from their series The Planet, and realized that these times are transition times for all living things on the planet; people, plants, animals, water life, birds of the air, and insects. All life faces the possibility of extinction. Humanity is being forced to re-examine its values, attitudes, actions, beliefs, and the part we play in the biosphere, both as nations and as individuals.

Over-consumerism cannot continue because all of life is living in a sewer that gets worse as we go along. The global crisis is painful, but it cannot be avoided if the planetary biosphere of all living things is to survive.

The present international dialogue and discussion of errors in thinking is necessary before we either drown in our own pollutants, or escalate our fears of each other into global war. This is still a possibility. Ideally we will get beyond this phase of evolution to a stage of respect for the views and freedoms of others, and a balanced way of living on the planet that does no harm to the biosphere. This is about evolution, our evolution to an expanded and higher way of thinking. We must evolve, or be destroyed by the planet itself.

We have the gift of consciousness and the ability to make choices that affect the entire planet. We are a global consciousness that exchanges information using the latest technology and this exchange of information will eventually lead to making plans together as one mind. It is said that other great Earth civilizations have reached this stage and destroyed themselves, because they could not evolve in their thinking past the need for power and control over each other and the planet. It is also said that some civilizations have reached this stage, gone beyond, and left for the stars. It could be us, if we make the right choices.

If you're expecting an "evolution"

into a "higher consciousness", I think you might want to go to your local WalMart and have a look around.

"Evolving consciousness" doesn't exactly look like it's high on the priority list for the general population.

If you're hoping for that, then get ready for extinction.

Great example

I don't think we are smart enough.

I'm thinking it might be extinction. I feel like we are being given a time limit to get our act together. It is do or die. We should be working really hard to get to other planets and solar systems. I look at it as a survival of the fittest between planets. It's not looking good for us at this point.

Everyone dies, what's the

Everyone dies, what's the point of survival? What matters is what happens after you die, which is a matter of faith, simply.

We are currently in the middle of one of the largest mass

extinction events in history. There have only ever been 5 like this in millions and millions of years.

How do you know?

Where are the numbers? Those who quote extinction numbers typically cite species disappearance numbers. However, these numbers are skewed by the fact that the definition of "species" is changing, and also the fact that we are actually *looking*. There is no way to truly tell what the background rate of despeciation is.

Yes,

for various reasons this is true. The others were caused by natural events, but humans seem to be causing this one.

Most were caused by abiotic events.

Local supernova, basalt outflows, and asteroid strikes are largely thought to be behind previous ELEs; but one was distinctly biotic: it's called the "oxygen catastrophe".

It's quite interesting; without the oxygen catastrophe we wouldn't be here; and it's refreshing to think that the very air we breathe in allows us to survive courtesy the toxic waste of ancient algae.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen_catastrophe

But it also goes to show that biological revolution brought out through extinction is not just a crisis; it's an opportunity.

These are non-statements.

"All life faces the possibility of extinction."

That's always true. At all times.

"Humanity is being forced to re-examine its values, attitudes, actions, beliefs"

Also always true. At all times.

The thing is you never know what could kill you, and it's almost never what you think it will be. Sure, we see all these things "changing" around us, but really change is constant.

The thing though is that doing all these things like living in an overconsumptive society, puts us at a HIGHER RISK of moderate disasters becoming perilous disasters.

I think capitalism is the correct answer; it's the only economic system which is non-judgemental about people's values, and freely seeks optimization, and I think societally, there is a demand, a value, on the individual level, of protecting the environment and existing sustainably, but the form of capitalism that we live in (debt-based, hyperinflationary, macro-socialistic) is upside-down, and driving us into unsustainable existence, and quashing those individual values. We need to turn this system around (savings-based; gradual, secularly deflationary; micro-i.e. individually-"socialistic").

Good point and agree.

"the form of capitalism that we live in (debt-based, hyperinflationary, macro-socialistic) is upside-down, and driving us into unsustainable existence, and quashing those individual values. We need to turn this system around" .

Agree, Capitalism in its truest form is the correct answer, allowing a natural balance in the market just as a natural balance occurs in nature when there is no bailouts or interference.

Rothbard

I forget which lecture it was but Rothbard talked about how in a socialist society a copper mine would be mined until empty but in a capitalist society there is a drive to preserve the land, use the copper in the mine effectively, and preserve a certain amount of the mine's ore as it is future profits that can be used to gain investors. Seems to illustrate your point on conservation.

"It is the responsibility of the patriot to protect his country from its government."

— Thomas Paine

"Endless money forms the sinews of war." - Cicero, www.freedomshift.blogspot.com

Right furthermore in a capitalist society...

As the mines reserves begin to draw down, prices go up, imposing a natural brake on consumption and encouraging searches for alternatives.

What we need to do is to not treat poor people like idiots. When prices go up, it's true that poor people get hurt, but it's not always a "class control" issue; instead it's sometimes a sign that demand patterns need to be changing. Anticapitalistically sandbagging a failed system to preserve continuity fundamentally helps the entrenched rich and powerful, because they have too much "inertial mass" to adapt; poorer people have less to lose, and along with "smart rich people" are more nimble with their resources and will be better adapters, so long as we don't subsidize social stagnation.

There are relatively socially helpless people, like the chronically sick, or mentally ill, or "developmentally challenged". Some of these people rise to the occasion and demonstrate incredible fortitude against adversity and function remarkably well in our society. The remainder can be taken care of by the goodwill of the rest of us; there's more than enough to go around, so long as the government doesn't impose an economic system that makes goodwill difficult and so long as the government doesn't try to compete with the efforts of the individual.

Balance

I think I see it like this, balance requires small movements in all directions like small ripples which eliminate most large destructive movements and allow for second by second changes in direction. Distortions in this natural balance for any reason cause buildups of energy which inevitably are released powerfully and violently. I believe this occurs in our economic and social orders. I believe this is why "those who make peaceful revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable". Elevation of certain social groups above others, which puts the others in a mode of violently wanting to restore balance. It also is seen in our current economic landscape as various distortions cause the violent rise and fall of various economic groups who would normally maintain a normal amount of balance. It seems that it is our ability itself to believe that we can play with these balances which causes the violent releases of energy in all areas and that a certain small level of energy release (violence, death, poverty, etc) normally viewed as negative by those who control is actually the proper balance of nature. Powerful people think that they can remove these normal acts of nature and are wrong. It seems that as we gain technology the time between these releases and the energy released becomes less frequent and massively more violent like booms and busts. I have to think more about it and I could be completely off track and babbling but that is what this thread made me think of.

Like your idea:

as you stated here: "I think I see it like this, balance requires small movements in all directions like small ripples which eliminate most large destructive movements and allow for second by second changes in direction." What you are saying makes me think of less manipulation and more toleration of natural ebb and flow in all areas.

There is no Evolution

without Involution

For those less wise than

you wise ones, :-) here is what involution means:

Involution is the descent of spirit deep into denser levels of creation. The present Earth plane is a 3rd dimension lower vibrational planet. Evolution is the individual ascent into self consciousness that evolves into divine consciousness, and is also known as ascension. We all do this at our own rate.

At the present time rapid evolution/ ascension is taking place because the planet is increasing in frequency as it approaches the galactic center on its path around the galaxy. 2012 is part of a continuing process, but it is accelerating at this time.

the human species sucks as

the human species sucks as an intelligent life form.

our civilization has been destroyed several times before and we are right on the brink of going out again.

We have been

really lost in the dark, and sometimes I am ready to give up and just live in the forest until it ends, but I also see something beautiful in humans; courage, honesty, caring, compassion, love , honor, the capacity for higher consciousness. The really lost, "bad apples", always stand out and make everyone look bad.

I also believe that we are higher light energy beings that agreed to partake in this evolution experiment on the farthest out fringe of creation, because God asked us to. That makes us really brave because we came here knowing we would forget who we really are and may make some terrible mistakes in that forgetfulness that would be hard for us to forgive in ourselves. And that is the bigger bigger picture. Lest we forget.
That is why Jesus said: "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do'"

yep. but...don't go live in

yep. but...don't go live in a forest unless its underground! get REALLY dug in, if you can.

there ARE comfortable ways to go about it.

i've seen the 'survival' ug's and i would NOT want to live in any of them for any extended period of time. potentially we're looking at 4-7 years depending where you live.

people in the pacific northwest are going to have better air quality so won't have to stay underground so much.

i like the monolithic dome:
http://static.monolithic.com/plan-design/crandall/why/index....

Highly Secure - The inherent strength of a Monolithic Dome's concrete walls and roof make exterior assault, bombs, bullets and burglary nearly impossible.

Alternate Atmosphere - Monolithic Domes can be pressurized to vary air pressure and atmosphere, and act as biological containment vessels.

Low Maintenance, Long Life, No Decay

Fireproof - Instances on record show that the concrete shell is impervious to fire and will not spread a fire or collapse from heat. (should survive the solar storm)

Near-Absolute Protection From Tornadoes and Hurricanes - Winds, 300 MPH and more, have little effect on the basic dome shape and because the dome is Monolithic, it will not come apart in pieces.

Seismic Resistant - Its symmetrical shape and strength give the dome an ability to survive earthquakes. (a MUST!!)

Termite Proof, Vermin Resistant

Buried Building, Below Grade - With the Airform's resistance to moisture penetration and the concrete's resistance to compression, the Monolithic Dome lends itself to below grade construction. (YAH! we can build it underground!)

Thanks for all the great

websites. Bookmarked!

Excellent wording for a cumbersome and all encompassing issue.

I still say, thats the satellite is the in reality, the greatest tool for world accountability in the history of the world.
In "Brave Heart" movie, the government croanies had first right to "bed" rape) your bride the day of your wedding. Could you imagine if they had Utube, instead of a foot messanger!
Well, you're seeing it now, so do something about it.

"because they could not evolve in their thinking past the need for power and control over each other and the planet"

This will change. The truth is 24/7

Now shout from the highest tree . . . "Respect for all living things and creatures!" The Law of Nature is part of our DNA.
The humans have a direction, and it whispers from their hearts.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

Agree!!!

Instant communication makes everyone more accountable and is on the increase. That part of the Brave Heart movie always makes me feel so bad. And that is the old feudal lords that are now the NWO central banksters.

He sure put a crimp

In their plans, Is anyone familiar with the warrior queen Boudica. She is my inspiration.

Rawfood~

Your name makes me curious. Do you adhere to a raw food diet ?

"Its easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled."

Yes, I practice natural hygiene.

80% rawfooder currently, but reaching a goal of 100% raw foods.
It's the best "awakening" I have ever experienced. The direction of mankind is made clear. The question I ask myself about any question concerning anything,
"How will this activity affect access to locally grown pure, wholesome foods?"
Some of the premise is:
All diseases are the same.
All cures are the same.
In essence, if you have disease, allow the physiology of the body to do the repair work. Do not give it anything except what the body can naturally assimilate without stress or toxicity . . . and they are . . .
Pure water, pure air and pure sunshine.
And of course, "peel-it-and-eat-it after your're detoxified.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

I just started juicing

What an energy boost. This co-incides with my research that eating living foods will raise your frequency.
