The United Socialist States of America step 1: Offshore manufacturing

http://revolutionarypolitics.com/?p=419

For Socialism to take over our country it is necessary to destroy the manufacturing sector. It seems that If World Socialism is the ultimate goal there probably is no better way to implement it than by using this scheme. Run a deficit, get China to buy the debt, offshore the manufacturing jobs to China and flood the U.S. with cheap imported crap. Add in an expensive war and place troops around the world to maintain an empire and viola! Socialism is on its way!

Good observation.

Unfortunatley we're way way way past step 1. They are putting the final touches on a 100 year project right now.

Here's a thought...

If other countries would allow their currencies to "float" instead of pegging it to the U.S. dollar, our debt would have to be monetized to cover the deficit spending. The result would be inflation in the short term instead of this inflationary bubble and loss of manufacturing infrastructure that has been allowed to occur. I don't think that is protectionism. It's fair and balanced trade allowing the natural supply and demand curve to work the way it should. The fact is that prices should have gone up years ago, but the people were "bailed out" by allowing foreign countries to buy the debt. This went on and on with nobody knowing the how and why about it. Chinese products should cost more. I have no doubt that manufacturing jobs will come back and we will all be making 6-figure incomes. Unfortunately the average automobile will also be 6-figures. Go Figure.

Looking for USA Manufacturing?

I'm sure there are a bunch of DailyPaulers who run manufacturing companies or work in manufacturing.

i dont know why everyone is

i dont know why everyone is so against products manufactured elsewhere ... its part of economics its called specialization ... trading with other countries is important .. there is no such thing as an economy that is isolated from the rest of the world ... those dont last long ... its called protectionism

what we should be focusing on is that there is no longer a large manufacturing industry in the US ... and that is a large result of what has happened to the economy throughout the 20th centruy

the real step 1 of the socialist states of america ... we creating the central banking and stealing all the real wealth ...they destroyed the currency and made it unaffordable and difficult to run a business when costs are so high domestically

For our economy to function we need GDP

It's not protectionism to demand fair trade. The founders had a tea party because of this issue. Wealth is generated by creating things through manufacturing, mining or agriculture. I am quite confident that we can compete globally in manufacturing if you take away the currency manipulation tactics used by countries like China. Understanding this issue is key to bringing manufacturing jobs back and restoring our Republic.

Inflation

Unfortunately, we wouldn't be outsourcing jobs if inflation and unions hadn't made it too expensive to pay people here. So you've got a good point.

However, why is "trading with other countries important?" If it's not profitable to us? I'm not going to buy something from some guy in Italy if I can get it from a guy here, it's too big of a hassle and if I have a problem with the quality of goods he gives me, I can't seek any recourse through any means except not buying from him anymore. What we should be doing is selling to foreign countries. You can only have an imbalance in trade against you for so long, and we've been doing nothing but buying.

We're not selling anything except our inflation, unfortunately.

Few people know what a hassle it is to manage employees in foreign countries. We can barely keep our Southgate and Lansing (3 hours apart in Michigan) offices straight. I can't imagine trying to manage a bunch of idiots over in Hong Kong.

Central banking is not the reason for the demise of US industry.

Outsourcing, our illegal alien working underclass, and the demise of American manufacturing industry have been caused by overregulation, overtaxation, red tape, a sue-happy culture, and government bureaucracy.

Those who outsource and employ foreigners do so because the American workplace has essentially been crippled by too much government.

Absolutely correct

We need more people like you here on DP. Ron Paul certainly supports outsourcing and no restrictions on how businesses run their operations.

Wow that was deep. NOT

It has been happening for years, and nobody has paid attention. I saw this coming when I got out of high school, and I suprised it didn't happen sooner.
