Peter Schiff to Grassroots Senate Movement,"I am certainly NOT discouraging you!

Schiff 2010

Peter Schiif talks about the "Grass Roots" effort to draft him for a potential Connecticut Senate run in 2010. The comments can be heard on his weekly pod cast here http://www.europac.net/ra... .

The conversation begins with a listener call that begins at 28:14 in the show. From my perspective, he is completely open to the idea and wants the grassroots to encourage him. See for yourself. Would love the feed back.

Getting some buzz

Redstate.com posted the Schiff vs Dodd youtube video.

http://www.redstate.com/ctvoter2010/2009/01/17/schiff-v-dodd...

His facebook site is adding alot of fans, closing in on 1000 already.

Be sure to watch Peter on Glen Beck debut show on FoxNews Monday evening.

I grew up in the town next door to Dodd yada yada

yada I know him pretty well in terms of his political career. Let's just say, politely, that his time is OVER or should be over. I have lots of relatives in CT and they ALL want Dodd and Leiberman out. One of them said to me recently that you can't have real change if these two clowns are still in Congress.

Schiff's strength is Dodd's weakness. Schiff understands economics and state his ideas coherently. Dodd's ideas, a rat's nest at best, have all been proven wrong, he cannot articulate any rationale, and the voters of CT are ready to move on without sentiment.

GO SCHIFF!!

See my thoughts in response to zenpiper below

Peter is far too good a person to be relegated to that cesspool in D.C.

i hope he runs.

Schiff for Senate!

He sure would get MY vote.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Politically speaking

Schiff is one candidate that, in light of the issues, and Dodd's proximity to their cause, would be one great campaign to follow in CT.

He has name recognition, understands government largesse, and has a website of years of information. Everything he says, he records.

THAT would be real political hay in a campaign with Dodd, who is really just a should be indicted criminal.

We are not going to get Ron Paul to run for every office we like.

I'd vote for Schiff, he understands the havoc of big government, and since his father is a political prisoner, I don't expect him to get corrupted by government at all.

Not for me

.
Peter Schiff is nobody I would ever vote for. I might put some dough in Europac but that would be the extent of it.

Ron Paul is tried and true.

What are you talking about?

Ron Paul is not a candidate for Senate.. Peter Schiff has been a conservative libertarian for as long as I have heard of him, not to mention the man is brilliant. Why would you not like to see him run for Senate?

Would you please support your opinion or at least correct it please?

Thank you for answering..

Peace

There are few I would support

.
I know RP is not running for the senate, but he's the only politician I can support whole heartedly.

Peter Schiff is very smart and very clever. But I just don't like the guy. Gut feeling more than anything else. Maybe it's his know-it-all attitude on TV, I don't know. Ron Paul has smarts and humility, and that counts for a lot with me. I am just tired of billionaires in expensive suits and haircuts, no matter how smart they are.

Interesting that you feel that way, zenpiper

because I have just the oppositie reaction to Peter. I think he's too good for the Senate (and I also think this "thing" has gone too far to be saved, anyway). I don't think he comes across as having a know-it-all attitude at all, but maybe that's because I worked on Wall Street a hundred years ago. I know first-hand just how obnoxious, overbearing, and verbose the vast majority of these so-called experts are and can be. Peter has to come across strongly or not be heard at all.

Again, the man is too good a person, I think, to be voted into that cesspool.

It's my gut, and maybe my heart too.

.
Last July my gut told me to sell all my stock, and I did it. Had I stayed in the market, I would have lost a great deal. My gut tells me that Schiff is best as a TV guest/commentator and running his Europac outfit. Am I right? I don't know.

He may be, as you write, too good for the Senate. I don't know that either. Certainly the Congress is corrupt, influenced by large corporations, and under the boot of the FED and the CFR. Schiff is certainly not any worse than what we have now. He might be all right. In fact, he might be a positive influence. But, again, I don't know. Nobody knows. Politics is largely a game of hope: you hope the guy you elected will keep his promises and his nose clean.

You are on-target when you say that the 'thing' has gone too far. I don't know when it was lost. There have always been corrupt congressmen, going back to the time of Lincoln and probably before. Power corrupts, as the old saying goes and I think it is true. But fear also corrupts, and the media will not get access unless they play ball. That is why the news is so highly censored. (You were on Wall Street; I was at 30 Rock for 16 years). Regardless of where or when the seeds were sewn, we are reaping the whirlwind now, and things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. So, even if Schiff wins in 2010, it will probably be way too late to make a difference.

Looking forward to seeing

Looking forward to seeing another honest person in Congress who understands Austrian economics.

Peter Schiff "Prosperity Happens!!"

If Ron Paul is the standard, we will never have another candidate again to further the cause of liberty.

Schiff is great; understands Hayek's approach to economics. Most important, Economics is THE issue right now in politics. Nobody can better explain what's happening than Peter. That's why CNBC, CNN etc. have him on multiple times per week. Nothing wrong with making money; at least he's not losing people's money like most of the other cheerleaders on TV and Wallstreet. "Prosperity Happens!!"

The logo has to go, it's a

The logo has to go, it's a cross between Obama's logo and the Jack in the box head, with the hat.

I'm wondering what the heck THAT would look like...

so I clicked the schiff2010 link and yep, you are right, that is the most hilarious logo and with your comment (and the other replies to your comment) I'm giggling silly. I went back and forth to look at that doofy logo and LOL at your comment.
Peter Schiff's father, Irwin, is a patriot and a political prisoner. Every time he files something in his ongoing case, they switch the prison he is in and he must re-file. It's UFB that this old man cannot get any justice. I am very familiar with his case. Loooong ago, a mutual friend set us up on a blind date, but Irwin was as obsessed then as he still is with the IRSumbitches and...that wasn't very romantic. Flash ahead to now, I find patriots VERY romantic. *giggle*

I thought the same thing

it's a bad copy of Obobo's. Obaba's, whatever his name is.

A couple of slogans are springing to mind..

"Peter Schiff: he told us this would happen."
"Schiff for Senate: because the first step is understanding the problem."
"Peter Schiff: ready to take the Senate to school."

Wouldn't it be great if

if there was someone in the senate who actually knows how the economy works?

SCHIFF all the way!!

We need him in there!!

I like Peter Schiff. What's always struck me though

is that he is playing the same role that another Shiff played in the 1920's. Is he related?

No

Peter Schiff is not related to Jacob Schiff. Peter Schiff's father, on a side note, is currently serving time in a federal Pen for tax evasion, which is awesome.

Irwin?

The Irwin Schiff? Awesome man! Didn't know that, but interesting.
