HiYa:
We have been home about five days suffering from the Gringo curse. Any tips on how to avoid it in the future would be appreciated. Ecuador was amazing. There are pros and cons to it because we are used to pristine clean, well organized cities and places. Most of Ecuador is not. However, Ecuador has a sense of freedom we do not and I discuss it throughout my blog.

If you Read Day 1 of my blog, you will see my frustrations with the Airport Security. I like the idea of having a place to go if this place gets too crazy and totally unaffordable. Everything is an adjustment, though.

Do you know of a country that has no property tax? I thought under $100 was pretty good and I do want to support the infrastructure in the area. However, I am sure there are other ways to do it. Let me know what you think.

On my trips to Venezuela and
On my trips to Venezuela and other countries in South America the first time I came back and suffered massive Montezuma's Revenge i.e. extreme diarrhea, cramps etc.
I found on my subsequent trips that if I avoided ANY sort of dairy product (chocolate was ok though) and the water that I was fine.

The water is easy but the dairy is harder. They have fresh milk (supposed to be pasteurized) and it is divine in their equally divine chocolate or coffee. Will try a work around.

MMS will cure you...of a ton of stuff...
including, and especially, Montezuma's Revenge. Also, get one of Bob Beck's devices at SOTA for future trips to treat all water before hand. Between a Bob Beck device and the consumption of MMS you will NEVER have to worry about water borne pathogens again.

We had a water filter
We never drank anything but filtered water. It was all of the wonderful fresh fruit, etc., that we couldn't pass up. What is MMS?

I highly recommend you spend some time with this information. The next pandemic may only be around the corner and I can attest to the efficacy of this stuff. DO NOT discount this off-hand. I had never heard of MMS. The concept is very interesting. I think I will try some. I wish Humble hadn't coined that hokey-sounding name for it though, Miracle Mineral Supplement. Besides, it's not what I would regard as any sort of supplement, mineral or otherwise

We took grapefruit seed extract and food-grade Hydrogen Peroxide but we did not take it religiously. I think that was our downfall.

This is far and away from anything you have ever read about or tried. The science behind it is quite real, and should either you or your family contract any illness...including most cancers (all melanoma's), having this knowledge in your head and MMS in your kitchen cabinet will save the lives of your loved ones. Ibarra was a day trip with my hosts in Quito.
The mother of my "expedition-mate" had been visiting her mom who lives in Ibarra and the whole family (plus guest) drove up to pick her up. We had a nice big dinner, I cracked a stupid joke that made everyone laugh, and we stopped for ice cream on the way back to Quito. I thought it was a beautiful area. Nice farmland, super climate, and a most impressive guinea pig ranch. The thing I did not appreciate about it was the lack of bugs ;-)
I read through your blog. I can see it now. You're going to run a rescue operation for starving dogs.

I can definitely see myself adopting a few. I haven't got to the discussion on Cotacachi. The dogs in Cotacachi look healthy. Why? Because the town has decided to ensure that they are well fed and cared for, even if they are homeless. I like that idea. And I like the idea of NO bugs.
