Personally, I'm only editing/moderating major infractions.
I can't enforce all the guidelines as written--especially not the guidelines against improper article postings, flame wars, and personal attacks. It would be like handing out speeding tickets on the Indianapolis 500.
We're still hashing out the exact terms of what is and isn't to be moderated.
If I see racism, I will squash it. If I see profanity used as an insult against another member, I will squash that. If I see "violence" posts that are pretty open in their declared intent, I'll delete those. Everything else, I consider a grey area.
I will not ban people, edit based on philosophy, or delete entire threads including the original posts. Some other moderators will.

just want to say thank you on all our behalf for the time you give to be a Mod. Thanks to ALL the mods, and to Michael for his effort in keeping this site going.
People should stop...
stealing from authors. Writers work hard to get their stuff read. When you copy and paste an entire post you rip off the writer. No different than breaking into their home and running off with their TV.
Nystrom has been very specific about not copying the entire works of others.

Thank you guys. It is both immoral to steal those people's web traffic and a violation of the rules here. Don't understand why some people just can't grasp that. All the mods have to do is ask him nicely to please stop doing it and I'm sure Sierra would adhere but he won't because it isn't a mod doing the asking.
It really is petty and stupid to refuse to obey the rules then feel you've *gotten away* with something when the mods don't enforce them. I can see the smirk on sierra's face....but hey, it's cool. Be a thief. You seem to have gotten permission to do so from the mods here.

Unfortunately the mods have
Unfortunately the mods have let Sierra's epic postings go by time and time again. Being nice to sierra and asking him to follow Michael's rules didn't seem to work so last resort is to call him out on it. Either the mods will edit his post and ask him to obey the rules next time or they will let it slide, thus promoting double standards and confusion on the part of the people that frequent this site. So either
a.The mods need to edit his post and warn Sierra not to continue in his violation of the rules.
b.The mods can continue to let Sierra do as he pleases, thus leading to confusion about which rules are ok to bend/break and which are not.
c.Michael can edit the rules to allow for complete copy/paste jobs on his forum.

The rules are a guide, it's not the end of the world if they are not enforced in every little instance. You need to STFU and get over yourself since you are not a mod, and thank god you are not.

I enjoy his posts as well. I just hope the mods here will edit his post to meet the posting rules i.e. do NOT copy/paste ENTIRE articles from other sites here. Post a paragraph or so then a link to the rest of the article. I'm pretty sure that isn't going to happen now that e-goldstein is one of the mods.
Follow the rules of the forum is all that's being asked. I'm not sure why everyone is pissing and moaning. The reason I finally posted a thread directed towards the moderators and not any of the people that decided to respond in this post is because Sierra's willful tossing of Michael's rules into the garbage bin because that isn't how Sierra *likes* his postings. I don't give two dog turds what someone does or does not like. Either you follow the rules or leave. If the Mods choose to selectively enforce the rules then there is a double standard. Period.
