Can Ron Paul make a legit run in 2012?
Submitted by VoteRonPaul2012 on Wed, 01/21/2009 - 00:30Can he make a legit run in 2012? With the mainstream media already taking him down about his policies as it is, they will have a field day with his age if he does run in 2012. What do you guys think?

As much as it pains me to say this ...
C4L better start prepping another for 2012.
I love Dr. Paul ...
But it is not going to happen ...
It pains me even more to say that Ventura is the only one ...
right now ...
that I can see igniting money bombs at least as much as Dr. Paul did.
If there is an alternative out there, please let me know.

Ann Coulter likes him! Yikes.
.
I recall seeing a video of Dr. Paul when he was on the Morton Downey show, back in 1988. He was full of fire and indignation. These days, he has toned down the rhetoric a little and the fire has diminished a little. In another 4 years he will still have his smarts, but, frankly he'd be a bit too long in the tooth to take on such a demanding job as President.
But I think the U.S. will be in very dire straits four years from now. That is, if it is still in existance at all. We are seeing some very bad and tumultuous happenings now. The downward spiral is continuing: unemployment is up and growing, the dollar is weakening, the U.S. is losing status worldwide and is perceived as a war-maker or war-profiteer; the crushing debt - governmental and personal will bring down many, and perhaps this government. If China calls our notes, we're sunk. They could do it too. Frankly, I think our once-fine republic is finished. Done in by greed, arrogance and ignorance.
What's the difference between the U.S.A and the Titanic?
The Titanic had a band.
I really don't think it is fair of us to subject Dr. Paul to
another run at the Presidency in 2012. If this movement has not produced an acceptable candidate by then we do not deserve the freedoms he has been preaching. I am sure that he would be willing to mentor any deserving individual who goes forward with his message.

How about these VP's for Ron Paul
Ventura brings zero credibility -- You people are not thinking logically
His regularity on the Alex Jones show is a discredit not a benefit in the "normal" world -- where 98% of the voters dwell.
Some good VP's for Ron Paul (in this order)
Paul / Napolitano 2012 --- Judge Napolitano
or
Paul / Stossel 2012 --- John Stossel
or
Paul / Rogers 2012 --- Jim Rogers
or
Paul / Schiff 2012 --- Peter Schiff
or
Paul / Kauffman 2012 --- Bill Kauffman
or
Paul / Sowell 2012 --- Thomas Sowell
or
Paul / Skousen 2012 --- Mark Skousen
or
Paul / Means 2012 --- Russel Means
or
Paul / Elder 2012 --- Larry Elder
*&^ Constitution --- Constitutional Rationality
lol
Ron Paul is more of a regular on Alex Jones' show than Jesse Ventura.

His newsletters totally
His newsletters totally killed it for him last time. He might have had a shot if that crap was never printed. That was the #1 Failure, IMHO. It can't be undone. He showed bad judgment there. Though it's just one thing, it was a big deal to a lot of people, and just the crack the media needed to blast him open.
I see the unintended consequences.....
with all the exposure he is getting right now.....which is rather curious.
I'll explain my thoughts...
While Ron Paul was running, the media elite wanted no part of pushing his message. Now, that he's not a threat - not in danger of winning the election - he's worthy to show......BUT, what they are seemingly inadvertantly doing is exposing him to many more people with the almost daily interviews and when TSHTF the people will know who had the right policies all along!
If he runs in 2012 or someone with Ron Paul's Constitutionalist ideologies runs, we don't know, but people will hopefully have become more educated by then, if indeed it's not too late for America!

Lets focus on the
Lets focus on the legislature in our country and own states people, that is what he wants us to do.
And if Obama remains even mildly popular then no I don't think Ron has a chance.
Yes, especially since I am
Yes, especially since I am not so sure America as we have known it will exist in 4 years. There could be some great changes that could lead to opportunities.
Nah
The media spin machine is hard at work. They know they have power and most of them are so smug they won't listen to reason. However, he should run because his ideas catch on. He will get even more publicity this time around.
Yes.
Yes.
But he needs more company in Congress.
Let's focus on 2010.

I think it is wrong
to put all our hopes on Dr. Paul. Through out his campaign he consistently said it was the message not him. I sure hope people with Dr. Paul's message start having some successful PR. There are good people out there and we should start giving them the space here at the DP to get known by us. We could start name dropping and working it so when 2010 comes these people will already have name recognition. Even Jesus had 12 apostles, shouldn't Dr. Paul have a posse of followers willing to seek higher office.
I think the thing we also need to do is to Really Understand the MESSAGE and so when we are asked questions our responses are consistent and refreshing to the individuals listening. We really need a platform with a POSITIVE MESSAGE and a HOW TO INSTRUCTIONS that simple people could understand. Just my two cents.
Prepare & Share the Message of Freedom through Positive-Peaceful-Activism.
All our hopes?
That's what a vice president is for Ron Paul/ Rand Paul 2012!
Rand is a, please forgive me, Ron Paul with charisma!
He needs to be elected to Congress for one term before he runs for VP with his dad.

Very sensible and good

Rand is a very good choice, but whether or he is even interested in political office is a questioned to be answered.
He'd be good, though. He has had the best tutor in the world.
Ron Paul is unique.
It would help if there were logical successors to groom--there aren't. Most are lacking in one area or another.
The best choice on pure speaking talents would be Chuck Baldwin, in my opinion. However, he needs to run for office and build a political career. Most people will not vote for unknowns with no political record in a time of crisis.

Ron Paul is an anomaly
Many people share his views but his goodness is something we all recognize. The man just glows with brilliance and humility. What a story his life is. That is something people can rally behind...the true American dream. I just don't see anyone ever filling those black tennis shoes for decades. If only he was 20 years younger.
Need succession planning
Ever hear of a New York City newspaper called, "The World?" If not, that's because its famous founder, Joseph Pulitzer, tore down his son so badly that his son was emotionally incapable of running the paper after JP died. So the paper, which had risen to the top of the heap in NYC, died less than a generation after JP died.
Unlike Joseph Pulitzer, Ron Paul doesn't tear down potential successors. However, the only way that Ron Paul's message will live on is if successors step forward and are developed into leaders.
In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.
-- Thomas Jefferson
To quote the "Beloved dear leader" Obam
"Yes he can"
Two words...
FRANK LAUTENBERG! He is a dino!
Does my burka make my butt look fatwa?
Does my burka make my butt look fatwa?
He could and he should.
Why? Because who he is, and what he stands for, resonates with millions of people. MIllions more might come on board. A lot depends on how the next 2 or 3 years go. If we are mired in a depression with 10's of millions of unemployed then Dr. Paul will be a savior. His age will not be an issue.
If he runs he'll need a lot of $$ up front rather than in the middle of a campaign. He'll need a strategy that fits him but recognizes the reality of national politics.
Should he run as an Independent, Libertarian or Republican????
h-daddy
It's his choice.
The reason Third Parties usually fail is the candidates. The system being stacked against them is secondary. A large, passionate movement could overcome the obstacles if they had a reason to believe.

Yes, Ron Paul absolutely can make a legit run in 2012.

no
How do you still not see how the system works? The rothschilds were the main contributor to the building of the united nations and funding their wars, etc. Now they're forming us into a "un" type system. They are in the final stages of there works and the majority of people still don't even notice. Next chapter in the book is sustainability, which is why you see commercials now with obama asking you to donate your hours to "help" this country and it's problems. At the inauguration, the song or poem mentioned something about "no more time for leisure, we have to work hard, etc" (something along those lines). I've lost nearly all hope for this country, theres always been people awake but we seriously have no choice but to adapt and play the cards that have been dealt to us. So you ask, "Will Ron Paul be able to make a legit run in 2012". In my opinion, as much as I'd like to, no. The way the people who run this country sugarcoat all of the worlds problems so normal americans aren't distracted will keep people asleep still. Kucinich is trying to get a bill passed to ban guns, i'll be surprised if some legislation doesn't get through restricting the use of guns or ownership. The funny thing is most people would be okay with that. Anyways, i've ranted enough, i just had to get some things off my chest

I would say it's possible,
I would say it's possible, but to be possible we should all be introducing legislation at the state level to get rid of the electronic voting machines and go back to paper.
Jesse Venture for VP? I can't see him being very enthusiastic about playing second fiddle. Chuck Baldwin, on the other hand, would be awesome.

if things had been equal-early polls, no vote fraud, equal media. He was doing really, really well. We did really well for him, but we were up against some formidable foes.
