Cody Willard is nothing but a mass-media creation that is designed to associate people like you and me with neo-con central (FOX News) so that the phony left/right paradigm can continue to be applied across the entire political spectrum.
This guy's "young rebel/Austrian economist" schtick is every bit as phony as Glen Becks "Libertarian" shtick, and I wish that all of these people would do the right thing and just commit hari-kari.

Cody probably has big old blind spots, are we going to ignore the great things he DOES do? That was the best 90 seconds that has been on air in a long, long time.
I had the um, er, "honor" of booking Dr. Paul for an engagement. I got jerked around on location (and I mean what CITY he was going to) and venues and did not get a final "go" until a week before the appearance. I believe Cody tries. Dr. Paul does not making speaking his priority, he makes being in Congress and even being with his family a priority.
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

This isn't very reassuring. He spoke for a minute in a manner that almost no one watching will even take in his points. This will convert no one. It won't even get anyone thinking. If he wanted to make his points on this issue he would talk slowly and elaborate. Not this rapid-fire jibberish.

I am fighting for freedom just like you guys and I am 61 years young: along with several other seniors in my area. We are just as concerned about the future for ourselves and family. Just because some of us might be a little long in the tooth doesn't mean we are not capable of common sense. Freedom and liberty has always been important to me and worth the struggle and fight. How do you think Fox got to be the most viewed news channel?
For example, most Americans supported the war in the beginning. They capitalized on that. Now that the public isn't for it, they're not promoting war.
Now the public is upset at the government and bailouts. So, now they're capitalizing on that.
The mistake is the think that they're leading the market. It's the other way around. They have to answer to the market - to us - or they die. They know this and have always known this.

You believe major media always in history has advanced solely on trying to give news that people want?
You do not believe there have been attempts to "steer" the American public consciousness?
I tend to believe that both forces clearly have been at work over the course of American history. While the theory of rational capitalist motivation of news organizations is a fine theory, it misses quite a bit of the boat as a historical analytical tool.
This should be self evident to anyone with a modicum of understanding of history.

Sure, but
the power of doing that is very limited due to the fact of competition. And, today especially there is more competition in media than ever before, especially considering the advent of the internet. So that power is severely reduced. The public is getting what it wants. Anything you want to hear someone say you can find some news outlet saying it or interviewing someone saying it. Those which have the most success in the marketplace are those that are saying what most people want to hear.

The collective media control the message of the masses, and that's an immensely powerful tool that is worth much, much more than advertising dollars.
What you have to understand is that powerful people recognize how powerful the media is, and as hoarders of power, they will do whatever they must to take advantage of that. Hence the inevitable marriage of government and media. When that happens dollars become secondary.

Cut your hair, stop acting goofy so the baby boomers will take you and us seriously. I could care less, but the older generation I'm trying to help me run for office would take two looks at this video and say "what's that hippie doing on TV?"
Why don't they have respected people on FOX news that could actually get older people motivated? Because they want this movement to seem goofy like Shaggy, uh I mean Cody Willard.

I hate admitting this, but I refuse to lie
This guy looks and acts like a goofball to the point where it's hard to take him seriously. I realize how shallow that sounds but there is something about this man that just makes me want to reach through the screen and slap him.
And I say this as someone in their 20s who consistently agrees with Mr. Willard's opinions.

Alienate the largest voting block in the country. You'll go nowhere fast if you ignore the people who might be sheep, but they still know when they're disrespected. For the next 20 years we'll be into a deeper and darker pit.
