Each of you need to do a hard look at Social Service, the way they take kids, the fact they are not required..even in court..under oath..to give the name of the person that called them to report any such abuse.
Follow the money. The state gives money to the county agency...the federal government gives it to the states.
Also getting a slice of the pie: Judges-the DA's..Lawyers-Police-The Social Worker who ripped them away-And his/her boss
The longer kids are kept away...the more money they get..the more they make the parents pay for useless classes..the more money pours in..and when they can do a TPR..omg...JACKPOT
Like the IRS ..Social Services is NOT REALLY a government agency..
Anyone of you out there with the education to work with Child Protective Services..go ahead...follow the Constitution..and just watch how fast they fire you.
They do not want people home schooling their children because the children might do the one thing CPS and the government do NOT want them to do...THEY MIGHT JUST LEARN SOMETHING
BRAVO to those who do home school....I admire you...And I hope more follow your example so the next genoration will grow up with values, and an understanding of right-wrong-and liberty.

Freedom is another way to God...A corrupt government is a straight way to hell.

I believe in Hope & Change..I Hope the government will Change

That has

always been an issue in many states and situations. Many sheeple neighbors will call social services because they think it is wierd that thier neighbors kids don't go to school and assume or let thier imaginations run wild. Of course the government wants all children in school so they jump right on it. If you aren't doing things like everyone else you will be scrutinized. Many times people have had to deal with truency issues because thier children are seen outside playing or at shopping malls ect. during school hours. Some states and counties are better than others. I didn't have to do anything but write a letter every year stating that I was home schooling and telling what curriculum I was planning to use. (It was supposed to be approved by them but they never qustion what I chose) And they had to take the standards of learng test each year wich was done through some place that mailed the test to us and we mailed it back and they mailed us the results wich we returned to the school board. If they didn't pass they had a year to get up to speed or would have to be reviewed or something. None of that ever happened. They always got the highest possible score. I mean cmon it was a gubment standard test. It was the same test for 2 yrs in a row. Like grade levels 6-7 for 2 yrs and then 7-8 for 2 years. I have to admit I was slow getting back to the school board with all the crap but they did'nt hassel me much. Actually i never turned in the last years test results for my youngest son and they never bothered me about it. I mean it was the same test he took the year before and aced. I also was a bit of a bitch to them over the years saying things like. Why should I answer to a school I didn't see fit for my children to go to. Note: I took them out at jr high level for good reason. That's another story.
I recommend all home schoolers Join the Home School legal defense. it was 100 dollars a year back then and they are there for you. If you are hassled don't even let them in your house just call HSLD and they will guide you through it and represent you in court if needed all included in that fee.You will also get a HSLD report every month to know what is going on in yours and other states across the country with lawsuits and other great information. Just being a member is a big deterant from them wanting to hassel you. I personally never needed them.

Oh I forgot

When you are done you can get your official diploma from them too.

I was told by a Public School Superintendent

That some folks thought homeschooling was "child abuse" because the kids did not get the "social interaction" that they needed!
The Social Interaction was exactly what I was wanting to avoid!

Yeah...

It's not like they'll ever have to deal with other people in their lives...

Child abuse?

Most child abusers send their child to the baby siters for eight hours a day unless they qualify for NCLB then they luck out and get to send them to the baby sitters for 14 hours a day. When I was doing bus driver training we picked up a kid at four in the morning and did not drop him off till about six or seven. Thank goodness for the babysitters.

Back in the mid 80s when I

Back in the mid 80s when I was in grade school we had a kid in our class who was home schooled for a few years prior.

One of the smartest kids in my class, maybe even the smartest. He gave me a great deal of competition!!

...

I was OK until

the child abuse comment. All states vary - for example MA has very strict rules for homeschooling - one must hire a "teacher" to annually review the progress of your children's homeschool academic year (anyone fro MA correct me if I'm off base).

Where we live - the restrictions are much looser - one must be a part of a homeschool umbrella (organization) so as to be held accountable for curriculum, etc.

Linking child abuse and homeschooling is one of the most ignorant statements I have ever heard. There are no children abused who attend public school??? How about the teachers abusing kids - which seems to have hit pandemic proportions. See here: http://wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=39783

By and large, homechool parents are deeply dedicated to the well being of their children and have given up much (ie. careers = big bucks) to do what they know in their hearts is the best for their kids. The public school phenomena is relatively new...in the early 1800s eduation was the responsibility of the family NOT the governement. Some fine citizens came out of that and subsequent generations.

Here are some choice quotes by this EVIL Oklahoma state senator, Jim Wilson:

Excerpted from the following news story -

Two bills raise red flags among Oklahoma homeschoolers

On the average, homeschooled students who go into public schools are two years behind students their age, Wilson said.

"You hear examples of homeschool students excelling, but that is not the norm,” Wilson said.

Wilson cited potential abuse among some of the homeschooling parents as the reason behind the bill.

Some parents are not teaching their children but are putting them in front of a television, he said.

"I call that child abuse,” Wilson said.

Parents of homeschooled children don’t want any regulation or accountability, he said.

"If they are doing a good job, they shouldn’t mind anyone looking at their curriculum,” Wilson said.

Child Abuse?

Child abuse is sticking a 6 year old in a classroom for six hours a day in a desk with a 10 minute recess. Then filling their heads with a bunch of useless, boring information. Then, getting upset because they can't sit still and putting them on drugs for their "ADHD" and learning disabilities. I am so glad I am past child rearing. This is making my head spin.

The gov. has owned our children since the advent of compulsory public education. The very idea of this in a so called free country is repulsive to me. Highly recommended reading at C4L education freedom section, "Underground History of American Education" by John Taylor Gatto. The entire book is free online.

There are bills....

like this all the time. It's nothing new and it usually never goes anywhere...not to say it won't this time.

I bet HSLDA has something to say about this...

It should be noted...

BTW, that this is also the position of religious zealots like Molyneux, i.e., that "religious" instruction is child abuse. You can find this on his website.

So we don't own ourselves or our own families?

As much as modern day government loves groups instead of individuals it is amazing the amount of disdain that they consistently show to the most important group there is, a father, a mother, and their children.

Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.
