Wait ! What ? Mccain say's NO to Bailouts now ?
McCain opposes economic stimulus packageDavid Edwards and Jeremy Gantz

With just one word -- "no" -- Sen. John McCain made clear that President Obama and his Democratic allies face an uphill battle getting the much heralded $825 billion stimulus package passed.
Asked by Fox's Chris Wallace whether he could vote for the package as currently proposed, Obama's former -- and current -- foe said: "No... We're going to lay an additional $2 trillion of debt on future Americans. Is there going to be a point where foreign countries such as the Chinese stop buying our debt? Look, we've got to eliminate the unnecessary spending."
The Arizona senator's comments are something of an about-face. Just two over two weeks ago, on Jan. 9th, McCain appeared on a different Fox News program, declaring his interest in further government spending and willingness to work with Obama.
But although McCain said then that "unusual action is required in these most unusual times," he seems to have returned to the fiscal conservatism near the center of his presidential campaign.
The former GOP president nominee also said on "Fox News Sunday" that he wants to make permanent the Bush tax cuts, which helped high-earning people. President Obama has said he would not seek to renew them when they expire next year.
McCain told Wallace he would like to "sit down and negotiate" with Obama and other Democrats rather than filibuster the massive stimulus measure, but the lifelong Republican still calls himself a member of the loyal opposition, the Associated Press reported.
"So far, as far as I can tell, no Republican proposal has been incorporated," he told Wallace.
McCain's comments are sure to worry Obama, who said Saturday that he expects to sign the stimulus bill into law in less than a month

GOP talking points.
They have to prop up the false Right-Left paradigm now.

The dance is called the "Arizona...
Flip-Flop"
OH – I remember how this works
The fix is in – say one thing and do another – pass an amended bill that has increased pork and increased amount of paper dollars in it. McCain should have said NO to this back when it first came up – he would probably be president now instead of someone standing in Obama’s way. Yeah right - like I would like to see McCain being President even better. I don’t think so. I bet they work it out – just like they did last time.
After all the crap he put us through
he must be getting senile because this just doesnt seem to be john mccain.
It only took six-months for wisdom to penetrate his "mind".
The Republican leadership realize they have to sound different than the Dems for the unenlightened masses to continue buying into the game. McCain will say whatever he is paid to say.
MY vote did count
I happen to like thorns working in check.. I was afraid I lost my way to vote... Keep them fighting untill a voice of the past bites them in the @$$..
you-no
He must be coming up for re-election
When do we get to get rid of this man. 2010 I hope.
Not soon enough!!
You gotta know when to hold 'em...
What are you fightin' for?
Caught in the middle?
Freedom is only for those with the guts to defend it!
It's the good cop/bad cop
scenario. Yes to bailouts of banksters - AIG - Fred/Fan - Big 3 et all, but no to what "appears" to help the American people.
It's all planned to get goofy off the hook.
The illegal "bailout" was for one reason only - to create a DICTATOR of the Secy. of Treas. who answers at the pleasure of the Pres. Thus we do have a dictator for Pres., with a stand-in.
When you look at the "stimulus" pkg. it's nothing but a fraud. Sort of an "earmark" in and of itself - a stand-alone earmark!
IT'S A DISTRACTION FOR ????? We will soon find out.
McStain...
is just putting up the typical fake Republican fight to try and fool the public into thinking that the R's are for less spending. Then a "compromise" will be made on the bailout and everyone will rejoice at how non-partisan they are. It's a show people.
Bailouts
Yeah !!
McCain is either feeling better or slowly coming out of his cognitive deep freeze.
He is thawing out, although he still has about 170 degrees to go !!
donvino
You didn't REALLY think there were no hard feelings!
C'mon... he'll try to be a thorn in Obama's side from now until he has a tragic accident!
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
Not against bailouts
McCain's not against spending, he's against spending that won't work. the article I saw on Yahoo on the "stimulus" had McCain saying no because the spending was not going in the appropriate area, namely job creation.
Make no mistake, McCain still thinks government and government spending is the solution, if only done the right way, his way, or at least the way that gives him the most political gain. There's not a conservative bone in his body.

well... better late than never I suppose...
I still need to contact my representatives...
Not only do I plan to try and explain the facts/flaws of this policy, but I intend to tell them the truth: that if I get any sort of stimulus check, it's going straight to paying bills/savings... not to buy some more unnecessary crap... and, I have a feeling that 95% of other Americans would do the same....
Even if you had a huge stimulus (which would just leave you with a debt/inflation nightmare) and you gave out several thousand dolllars to each person, it would only last a very short time.... this system of giving out stimulus checks does not solve the problem at all... it just means we can potentially buy more crap for a few more weeks.
And what will it cost us in the long term? The destruction of our currency through inflation, a debt on our children's children's children, a collapse of our country, etc. It's not worth it, and it's counterproductive.
We need to cut spending, we need to save our money, and we need to actually produce stuff/export.
Well said, avoice of reason!
May I excerpt some of your words for my next letter?
LONG overdue
ALL I can say is, it is about time someone steps up to the plate, for me, the average taxpayer & government suplimentor....
