If the officer could not take an 11 year old girl, she is not fit to be an officer. I mean, who is this 11 year old and should she be in a boxing ring if she's whooping an officer's ass?

Schools generally don't have the budgets to hire large, smart, and skilled security who are capable of manhandling the general masses. Mainly, they hire women and old people on the premise that they are adults and should basically tell the kids what to do.

Keep in mind that fighting 160 lbs and 5'5" is a lot of girl to manhandle for a small woman or an old man in these situations. Especially if she's 11. It's like the kid girl version of Lennie from "Of Mice and Men".

What ever happened to mace?

Seriously though, They are saying she was five five, Some how I think that may be a bit of an exageration, since they will never tell us who the child is they can exagerate all they want and get away with it.

She punch the Officer. She was 5'5" and 160-170 pounds. She was spitting and cussing out teachers.

Oh but I guess that would be child abuse. Maybe if we could give our kids a good old spanking at home when needed without going to jail they would not act like that at school. But nooo the government decides that for us too. The reason so many get so fired up is because it's about CONTROL. Not just for us but for the kids. But we aren't allowed to control our kids yet we suffer the consequences when they act like that. wouldn't we all like to know the history of this girl,her family life,or even the full story here? How did we get here is the question. Blowback?

Well let me ask you, what did officers do BEFORE tasers?

Answer: They used their skill to wrestle the person down. Come on, any officer who cannot wrestle down a 5'5, 170 pound 11 year old girl, is not fit to wear the uniform.

Fit as in, physically strong and skilled.

This reliance on the Tasar is just getting totally out of hand. I want Tasars banned from Cops.

Give Cops several hours a week training in wrestling and going back to old fashioned arresting techniques.

We shouldn't have a knee jerk reaction to something like this. The cop was a woman herself, and may have been smaller than the student. If she was posing a danger to the other students, what were the options, when physically overpowering her was off the table? Looks like I'm on the cops side, this time.

Somewhere, some how, we have to remember our CHILDREN need the ADULTS to model BETTER alternatives than "submit or be tasered." The officer could have called for assistance, could have called for a family member to come down, here is a WILD thought - could have offered to go somewhere quiet with her and talk it through... and the ways this may have been averted best all came long before this tape started rolling.

What IS is that this kids was posing a threat to teachers and students alike.
Hell shoulda had good parents.
Woulda had some respect
Coulda avoided this whole confrontation.
But at the end of the day it boils down to being in that situation.
Non of us here on the DP were there.
So all arguements and "OMG that officer should be hung" are pitiful at the most.
Notice I based my opinion on the facts of the case.
Not some fantasy where children all behave like little angels and say please and thank you for everything.

maybe the officer could have done their job. I have many memories of instances just like this with BOYS of 200-350 lbs.(14y.-18y) being unruly, cussing, punching officers, breaking desks, chairs etc.etc. in school. Funny thing none of them got Tasered®. Oddly enough the officer did their job. Subdued the child, cuffed them, contained until help could arrive. The fact that the officer was always undersized did not effect the outcome. So... now that we have Tasers® we dont need to expect the officer to do their job? Just Taser® them if they look funny, if they protest, if they fight? PLEASE.... that is lame and an excuse for lack of training & intelligence. Previous to 10 years ago it would be unheard of, now it's common place.
ALL HAIL THE POLICE STATE ! ! < new and improved and coming for your child. I don't pay local taxes for MY POLICE to Taser® children in school. Ridiculous ....smh

How about training instead of arming. Pretty soon cops won't be able to carry all the toys they supply them with.
The guy they shot new years day it is in question wether he meant to go for his tazer or his gun. Oops. Wrong toy. Let's see ... Gun, billy club, mase, tazer,and they are coming up with more every day. Guess they have lots of guinie pigs though especially if age is not an issue.

A high school kid punched another one unconsious and started kicking him in the head with his boot. The school campus monitor (an unarmed back-in-the-day school security) was outmatched and basically helpless and had to watch it all go down while pleading with him to stop, until the kicker got tired and walked away. The kicker was then later arrested and victim lucky with only a long hospital stay and an ugly face. The campus monitor was fired for "not intervening" when the reality was that short of a taser or a gun, the monitor would have been in the hospital next to the victim.

Sometimes to adults who deal with good kids, it is unfathomable that it isn't possible to talk a kid into cooperation and that the kid might really be dangerous.

She needed her ass snatched up, by larger adults or officers. If the female officer wasn't capable of restraining an 11 yr old GIRL, then what the hell would she do about a 225 lb 18 yr old that had been held back a grade or two?
You are showing your true colors with these type of comments, and you are well on YOUR way to being "written off".
You're the sheep here, thinking that a device that has killed HUNDREDS of people, should be used on a fat, unruly ( possibly medicated) child.
