Soldier dies in combat zone. It's reported as "not combat related".
Are only awarded to those who were wounded or killed by the "enemy"
Yes it's a "combat" zone - but if a soldier gets run over by one of our tanks while it's backing up in the motor pool - the soldier isn't getting a purple heart. - and quite a few places I was in during my time in Iraq didn't even feel remotely like a combat zone....
Not that I'm defending our foreign policy there or anywhere else in the world....

somehow this probably means his family gets less financially than they would otherwise. By saying he didn't die in combat. Gotta cut expenses you know.
Thank you Dr. Paul for making me act on what I already knew was right.

No..It doesn't matter how you die as a member of the military..your life insurance policy remains the same...I'm insured for 400,000 no matter how I die..I could die in my sleep tonight and my family would get the same amount of money as if I were KIA...just wanted to point that out...
Its a win-win, you know.
My heart goes out to this family. We had a loved one die a heroe's death on a fool's errand. It tears a family apart.
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
A fine young man lost his life because of our terrible foreign policy.
