Senator Warns White House Will 'Create Crisis' and 'Panic' to Push Stimulus
Submitted by declarationofre... on Tue, 01/27/2009 - 20:40"Is the new Obama administration taking cues from the Bush administration to get Congress to act? It certainly seemed that way to, South Carolina’s junior Republican senator, Jim DeMint. DeMint, speaking Jan. 27 at The Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., explained the Obama administration will “create crisis and widespread panic” just like its predecessor in order to get Congress to act expeditiously.
“I’ve been around long enough to know whenever someone tells me I have to make a decision right now, my response is no,” DeMint said. “That clears it up right away and I think more and more the Bush administration and now this administration knows that they’re not going to get a quick reaction out of Congress unless they create crisis and widespread panic. And that’s going to be their M.O. to get Congress to act.”
So if we can just get the truth to the American people, or just a segment of the American people, I think you’ll, you’ll see a groundswell of anger, again because there’s, there’s a real fatigue out there on these bailouts,” DeMint continued. “I think even people who are normally not that political are coming up to me and they just sense that we’re running this country into a ditch. I’ve never seen people so anxious and so – well, I mean they grab my arm. They’re no longer single issue people. They just say, ‘Thanks for fighting. What can I do?’ I’ve heard that at least a hundred times. That’s – we just need to let people know the truth and think that they’ll get engaged.”

Not Really
Libertarians are actually a rather diverse group of individuals, with the pursuit of liberty acting as the common thread between us all. There are many individuals and schools of thought that have evolved into something resembling libertarianism. Namely:
1) Objectivism / Rugged Individualism - Ayn Rand
2) Austrian Economics - Ludwig von Mises, Friederich Hayek
3) Individualist Anarchism - Max Stirner
4) Anarcho Capitalism - Murray Rothbard
5) Western Republicanism - Barry Goldwater
The list goes on. We tend to share a sense of fiscal responsibility and lack of appreciation for government intervention in the markets with the republicans (although lately, the spend thrift neoconservatives have hijacked the party), and our appreciation for social / civil liberties is similar to some in the Green party or Democrats. The main goal is a society that promotes the maximum amount of personal and economic liberty.
Hope that helps.
Thank you
for the explanation :)

That was directed @knoxknox btw.
Jim Demint
I dont know much about him but I just recieved a petition from him. It is titled Big Labors Legislative Onslaught from the national right to work comittee. Does anyone know anything about him?
He is a good statesman
and so is our Governor, Mark Sanford.
I wish our damn liberal, NY Times-owned, newspaper would stop beating these guys up on a daily basis.
Not bad
It is good to see they are at least beginning to take notice of our concerns.
It is kinda that left/right game but, we will have to use these opportunities to our advantage. Like the other side has been doing for a very long time.
We as individuals need to use the same numbers game they do.
Sad to say but, as the economy worsens more people will come to our side of economic policy. Most won't change until current conditions force them to.
For Peace, Liberty, and Freedom
Don't get it
OK I'm a Brit, but to me this is has to be good wherever it comes from. I think it's brilliant that he just says it like it is. Are Libertarians basically Republicans then? I thought this thing was cross parties.
The original republicans....
mirror Libertarian values. Modern republicans are into huge defense budgets...Libertarians do not agree with bloated defense budgets. Just what we need to protect our people here at home, not all over the globe. However, i did not vote for Bob Barr, libertarian Presidential candidate, he's ex CIA. And even for being ex, you never actually leave the CIA, you're just inactive...
