Where's a Safe haven...Submitted by LastAmericanStanding on Wed, 01/28/2009 - 13:30
I just read another thread from Lew Rockwell describing how, since we are enlightened, we watch the unfolding events like someone watching the celestial bodies with an understanding of astronomy.
Nice, I thought... but watching a building crumble - with an understanding of architecture - does you no good if you still get crushed by the building.
I'm sure it's been asked a million times before and the answer is always 'prepare!', but what should we be doing at this point in order to weather the approaching storm?
I've got several months of supplies... I'm speaking specifically about the money end of this crisis. I know the gold and silver folks out there will say put everything in metals and wait. My problem is, how do you pay your mortgage/rent with gold or silver? When the money stops coming in, all the supplies and planning will be a moot point as you will likely be tossed out in the street with all your possessions.
Is there an answer to this question? Or, is it all just wheel spinning that will result in the same end? Basically, if you don't own your home outright, the bank will remove you from it at their earliest convenience after you stop paying. Even if you do own it, if you can't pay the tax on it, you will suffer a similar fate.
These are the things that worry me as business starts to drop off....
