Give credit where credit is due - Obama has done some things this week

I did not vote for Obama. I disagree with Obama on most things. But I think we are being too partisan. Obama closed down Guantanamo, he's bringing back the Freedom of Information Act, he's communicating with the Muslim world in a friendly way, he's shutting down other CIA prisons, he's banning certain types of torture and he retook his oath when it got majorly flubbed --all in his first week of office! Now, I would have liked him to close down ALL CIA prisons and banned ALL forms of torture. His communication with the muslim community does not excuse his foreign policy objectives. But I think we are getting caught up in the same old partisan bickering. You and I vote for people based on whose past ACTIONS we agree with more. We should not forget that we look at the individual issues, not the R or the D next to their name. I would have liked to have seen some of the things Obama has done right so far on the front page of Daily Paul because it pertains to the liberty movement and it helps us remember that liberty supporters are bigger than party politics. Let's remember this next time we are quick to bash Obama.

I must have missed the Gitmo Closing Party!

To reiterate:
1. Obama closed down Guantanamo. Really? When?

2. He's bringing back the Freedom of Information Act. Bringing it back? From where? I was not aware the FOIA was gone in the first place.

3. He's communicating with the Muslim world in a friendly way. I guess further bombing and continued violence can be viewed as 'friendly'.

4. He's shutting down other CIA prisons. Again, really? Which ones? The Secret Ones? Is he also doing it in secret?

5. He's banning certain types of torture. Which only means he's condoning other types of torture.

Funny but I consider those who attend the DP to be on a slightly higher plane that most. Then along comes a posting like this....

It really makes you question the intelligence of some. Even those here.

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

Don't know why this thread

Don't know why this thread suddenly popped up again, but O and pals did finally come out and promise less overzealous prosecution of medical marijuana, didn't they? Everybody's good for something, even O.

I agree. I give Obama a big

I agree. I give Obama a big A+ for his actions today (but today only)

Does nobody in this forum understand proper forum behavior? When a post is really old, you have a responsibility to not bump it. Bumping an old and dead post is called "necroposting" and is considered a faux pas. Yes, it gives us a good view of how Obama lied, but seriously, how about we let recent topics get their time in the light. This one had already died a long time ago. We have no need to bring back dead posts.

I hate bumping this thing myself, but seriously people, please be responsible posters and check the date on a post before responding to it.

He has closed down nothing and only explanded Bushes wars.
The real issue is he is only a puppet. The fight is not against Obama. It is the men behind the curtain. The same ones behind Bush.
Federal reserve, CFR, Billderburg, UN, etc.
Are we ever going to stop playing the silly left, right phoney crap? It's only a diversion There is no real difference between the two.
The media only perpertuates it. Stop participating..

Let me be clear...

I oppose Bush, his brother Obama, Obama's cousin Cheney, and Cheney's secret love... Biden.

Debra Medina for Texas Governor 2010!

Rand Paul for US Senate in Kentucky!

Ron Paul 2012, Join or Die!

I, like most of you have posted to this...

we need to let this post die along with the crap that is in it. We have been paying attention, and do not have to deal with this stupid crap anymore. How about it, let my post here be the last so it can die. We do not need to keep feeding the beast that boasts for Obama the clown...

C'mon It's a great thread.

a perfect opportunity to illustrate what the man said, versus what the man did.

NO! keep it open forever!!

This thread kicks butt. I wish the OP had kissed Obama's even more. I hope some people think, "hmm, will I seem this silly in a few months for being in support of the healthcare bill?"

This post is almost 10 months old, however

There is a great interview, only a few months old.
Where Ron Paul talks foreign policy.
Again, it appears the interviewer tries to subtly trap Ron into saying the wrong thing..But it's a good read. And the comments are interesting.

Over on huffington post.

Do I smell a troll?

We were talking about trolls a few days ago. I'm thinking Shannon has mud on her boots from living under the bridge.

are you smelling the date of the post?

guess we had the same thought, although yours was funny.

Well, we all know I'm a tad wittier than you are

lol ;)
I'm just kidding. Great minds. . .

LOL. witt has never been my strong suit, I'm more of a grouch with a tobacco pipe.

And for everyone else, stop bumping, please for the love of sanity. Is everyone on acid tonight?

dude you are so right...

I cannot believe that this thread came back up...

NOPE, not happening :P

The DP is proof that the grassroots support for Ron Paul and his peaceful message of individual liberty is large, real, and not going away.

Yeah...and he also...

sent an additional 45,000 troops to Afganistan....hmmm..so much for all his change and hope. Oh, and I forgot, he also sent billions in Pakistani aid...hmmm...what about the Americans here at home that have no food, or housing, but are still expected to pay taxes.

hahahaha, how "timely"

hahahaha, how "timely"

He also will be sending an additional...

13,000 troops to Afghanistan very soon and is committed to bringing up the troop total to 68,000 in that Country before January 1st 2010.
Pakistan is next on the list and then it's onto the Sudan!

I have two words for you

the second one is 'off!'. You figure out the first.

He Is Saying What He Is Told To Say

You might not believe it but he does not always tell the truth. IMO

Partisan? Partisan against who?

The only defense for a liberal these days is either race or partisanship, and for the most part you will find neither here. Obama has not closed down Gitmo, and what friendly way is he treating Muslims? The bombing of schools in nuclear armed Pakistan expanding a failed Bush era foreign policy? Please name one prison he has closed down that is considered a CIA prison, any link will do? He did not ban any type of torture, he renamed it and put a smiley face on it, but ban it he did not. I am not sure which high school or liberal college you attend but please get your facts straight before posting here about where credit is due, you are not dealing with partisan religious right wing fanatics here. I think you might want to go back to posts a year ago when all we were discussing is what a failure and liar G.W. Bush was, you have not landed on redstate.com, there are actually thinkers here that do not rely on a party to do their thinking for them. Again you mention partisan bickering, to be partisan one must choose one side over the other, here at the dailypaul we do not choose political sides, we are on the side of the people at all times. We do not worship government, and we consider the fact that billions of tax dollars taken into the system could be better spent in other places.

“I would have liked to have seen some of the things Obama has done right so far on the front page of Daily Paul"

** By all means give us a list of factual accomplishments and I will personally post it on the front page. The fact of the matter is that you cannot. You preach of partisanship, but what you miss is when Obama does something that is actually for the people and the betterment of the U.S. that is constitutional, then the people here would stand behind him in an instant. Had Obama done the things you imagine he has then this site would be a buzz of praise, yet sadly it is not. The reason it is not is because everything you claim Obama has done, he simply has not. But to be fair and "non partisan" if you would like to link proof of anything you claim and give valid proof of what you are saying, then perhaps we can have a debate. If you simply take talking points from MSNBC or CNN who simply give lip service about what Obama has provided then you are simply a FAIL. We here at the dailypaul deal in the real world, not some fantasy world. We also do not have political idols (short of Ron Paul), but expect all those elected to honor their oath of office. No matter who was president, if they ran the country within their constitutional limits then you would find that we would stand behind anyone that chose to do so. If you are going to try the left/right paradigm here then you simply havecome to the wrong place, as we are not looking for a party, but a leader regardless of political affiliation, so please go back to the KOS and try again.

In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.

Almost a year after he took office...

Guantanamo is still open.

Torture as a standard has been re-affirmed in law.

The Patriot Act has been renewed and added to.

He has increased troop levels in every theatre he claimed to want to end.

He has killed more foreign civilians.

He is a war criminal, the same as Bush.

You are 100 percent correct with your comment, thank you...

Have you ever noticed- Full Name

Have you ever noticed that people on DP that use their full names as a user name are either neo-con T-baggers or Obamatrons?

DPers like privacy and don't want to announce to the world "my name is SHANNON OBRIEN"....or some similar nonsense.

They want to be acredited for their work..."pay for post" system
