Teachers forcing students to pledge to Obama!

It says, "...and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands." There's nothing wrong with the pledge unless the Republic has been changed to a democracy. I would never pledge allegiance to a flag representing a democracy; but one representing a Republic founded on the principles of the Constitution presents no problem for me.

Parents, wake up and get your children out of the public school system!

I've read all of the posts on the other site about this.

In a nutshell:

Kid complains about pledge.

Mom witnesses the dimming of lights and projection of Omaba's image

Parents considered going back and taking photos and video, but decided they did not want to risk violating rules against photographing children in school.

Parents tried to meet with principal but, after 45 minute wait, only met with vice principal.

Vice principle stated it was the idea of one teacher and had been in effect only a week or so. Also stated it was not a district wide policy.

Parents wanted name and phone number of superintendent, vice principle said he wanted to handle it quietly.

Parents take him at his word, waiting on results.

Many people make statements that teachers cannot enact something like this without district approval.

They should not have to "Pledge" to anything or anyone. The pledge has only been around for a short period of time.

The reason we fought the Revolutionary War is because we did not want to sing "God save the King/Queen". How is the Pledge any different?

Abolish the pledge!

If the parents get some video of the event, then I'm all in writing an editorial every day to the city paper.

last night at dinner. They both said they watched the events on the 20th but that is about it. They are in 7th and K. No pictures or pledging Obama yet. They attend public schools in Kansas.

more socialist than the US, but never has there been any prime minister's picture in the class room. As you have pointed out this is NOT right and involves a personality cult and indoctrination, as Hitler did, and every other communist dictator. I would be asking questions if it were my children and not just let this go.

No proof! Even internet pictures and videos can be suspicious. Who else and how many are reporting this 'may be' helpful.

Contacting the school, the teacher and other parents would be the way to go huh?
