A Glimpse at Post-Socialist America

What could America be like after:

* Rampant inflation and unemployment?

* The dollar-crash and international rejection of it as the world's reserve currency?

* Desperate wage and price controls?

* Electronic debit-card-ration-coupons?

* Hording, black-market proliferation, and internment camps for scoff-laws?

I saw a documentary last night that did an excellent job of depicting the public mentality of a looted, kleptocratic police-state, "Power Trip":

We won't value capitalism and the "rule of law" (rather than the rule of socialist kleptocrats) until we sink to this level. Ayn Rand succinctly stated it's ethos (I paraphrase) in "Atlas Shrugged" 'you hate the man with a dollar more than you - he stole it from you, and you hate the man with a dollar less, because he makes you a thief.'

A question for the gold-bugs; do you really think, in this age of computers, smart-cards and wireless networks, the banksters, with that technology at their disposal, will let a little yellow metal stop them? The outlawed gold during the last depression. This time, it seems only natural the progression from inflation, to price-controls, to hoarding and black-market will result in an electronic-gulag police state; one with no fences, just radio-bugged wallets and eyes hidden on every corner and every wall.
