Question: Do you have a landline?

There's much talk about the polls and how only people 1) with landlines and 2) who were registered Republican get called. The complaint is that Paulites are less likely to have a landline - and might not have voted last time.

So, let's find out:

1. Do you have a landline?
2. Were you registered Republican in last election?

Yes and No

I've been registered as a Republican most of the time since being eligible in 1991. I got so pissed at the GOP in the middle of last year that I became a “decline to state” (that’s an independent in California). Since moving to my current location I’ve registered with the once Grand Old Party so I can vote for the Good Doctor and make the party Grand once again.

Yes :) and Yes :<(

When they call and ask for money I tell them it all goes to Ron Paul.

I also have a lethal campaign weapon..... http://www.dailypaul.com/node/8030

Note! I didn't use the "were you registered Republican in last election" question because, as it turns out, this is not as important as I thought. SOME polls use that criteria, others if you are registered Republican now, others include independents etc.

The most important factor appears to be landlines.

Thank you to everyone who participated. I believe this little survey shows that Paulites ARE underrepresented in the polls.

Yes and Yes

Yes and Yes - living at home during college my parents dragged me to all the Republican primaries. I was polled around the beginning of the year in a poll that asked about Republicans and Democrats, and I regret to say I picked Hillary. Needless to say that was before I knew about Ron Paul. And so that's one poll where one vote has now changed. I also previously donated 10$ to Hillary's campaign (as compared to the 200$ I donated to RP on Nov 5). Recently I got a letter from Hillary with a postage paid return envolope asking for donations. I wrote on the return slip that Ron Paul is calling for an immediate troop withdrawal, as compared to Hillary's 2013, and that Hillary had just lost another vote to Ron Paul! Viva le r3VOLution!

Sort of and No

I've voted Republican for a long time but never registered. I have a land line but Caller ID so I never pick up calls I don't know.

no, no

No landline, not registered Republican before October 2007

Yes and no

Have a land line, not registered Republican.

Yes and No

Yes, I have a land line, but I didn't vote in the last presidential primaries, although I have been registered and have voted for 12 years.

Yes to Landline and Yes to Republican since 1984

Reagan's first term policies shaped my Political beliefs.... Paul reentergized them.

I will also state that, we don't answer the land-line very often and let it divert to answering machine. If it's someone important, they have my cell.

Yes to your questions, but take note of other problems

We have a landline.
My husband and I both are registered republican and voted in the last Primary and election.

No privacy screener either - do others who have answered yes have them?
If so some of the pollsters can't get through to you either. You may not know that you have one, as some of our Meetup members didn't know that the phone company had defaulted to adding that feature with their phone package.

Would I participate in a poll? Not unless I specifically knew that it was to support RP. In other words if they call and say they want to ask about movies, but include the Presidential poll in the questions I wouldn't be participating.

We live in GA, so there probably isn't any state specific polling here yet.

Source

I find this very surprising, can you paste a link or some kind of source for this?
Thanks

what do you think?

No, I don't have a land line.
No, up until July this year I was registered Libertarian.

no and no

no landline

No

I was registered as a democrat, and haven't had a land line since 2002.

No and No

No landline--mobile phone only.

I voted in the Democratic Primary in 2004.

yes and no

1. landline? Yes, just got one a few months ago (before that, I hadn't had one in years).

2. Republican? Not yet - I'm in the process of changing my registration (left the party when I could see they were selling out circa 2000). The GOP finally gave me someone I'd be proud to vote for since the late 1990s.

--I've never been called for a political poll.

No

Went cell only and never been back since!
Now if I could only keep the darned thing charged! :)

How polls are conducted

Enjoy

http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2006/Info/polling-faq.html

"Do pollsters call cell phones?
No. It is illegal for them to do so. This fact means that people who have only a cell phone and no land line will be systematically excluded from polls. Since these people tend to be mostly young people, the pollsters intentionally overweight the 18-30 year olds to compensate for this effect, but as more people drop their landlines, it is becoming a serious issue."

This is why I would always add the 4% margin of error to any Ron Paul poll. However, even with that margin of error, we still need to get Ron Paul in the 15% range. for him to be a threat to win New Hampshire.

Yes

I have a landline. As a matter of fact, I was recently called by a pollster.

Republican

And I was not a registered Republican last election. I am this one.

Yes / No

Yes - to landline.
No - I had changed to Independent from Republican before last election and now I'm back.

Double No

no land line for several years, and I changed my registration from Libertarian to Republican recently.

No

...but I wasn't registered Republican until recently.

Wouldn't it be easier if this question were set up in an online poll?

Nope

No Land Line....Except I do have a landline hooked to my home security system for $9 a month...but no phone hooked to it. I have Vonage, and cell!
