Video: Ron Paul on Fox Business 1-30-09 "Gold Standard"

Dr. Paul has the ability to explain what we all should know. It is amazing to me that most Americans still believe the lies from our politicians, and their "economists" who have been swindling us for decades. The politicians and their experts have been in charge as long as I've been around. Look at what they've done to our economy. How can they still have any credibility with the average American?

No longer content with what they have been stealing through inflation, these special interests who own most of our politicians now demand gifts of billions of dollars, or they threaten to shut down the economy. The bail outs are nothing less than thefts.

How would I go about posting a video on the Daily Paul. I put in the embed code from youtube but it does not seem to work. Is there some other code?

Thanks for posting this video! I'm sending the link to all of my family and friends. People are waking up to the fact that we've been bamboozled by the private, corrupt, secretive 'Federal' 'Reserve,' and it's strong arm (the Internal Revenue 'Service'). My dad has taught me this for 45+ years, but only within the past couple of years are his insights becoming so clear to me.

Of course maybe we should expect resistance OR SOME CRISIS to avert Americans' awareness and action on this, because 'the Fed' (and whoever controls it) is not going to welcome gold as replacement for its "faith-based," fiat monetary system. But I hope it happens, even if its a somewhat limited version, to start. Unfortunately, as Dr. Paul states in the video, we are still slaves to our un-Constitutional 'legal tender laws,' which make it illegal for 'we the people' to use gold as tender (openly).

In 1798 Thomas Jefferson pointed out the U.S. Constitution expressly forbids the federal government from “making paper money or anything [other than gold and silver] a legal tender.” Jefferson understood the evils and 'debt dangers' of having a fiat monetary system controlled by men. He even advocated an amendment to the Constitution to deny the federal government the power to borrow, so as to prevent America from getting in debt. Unfortunately, during the American Civil War, the federal government was unable to pay its debts with gold or silver coin ('they' ran out of the stuff), and so 'they' began to issue worthless paper notes ('green backs') to pay America's debts (largely from the Civil War).

Accustomed to using gold and silver (and barter) for trade, Americans ('we the people') refused to accept the worthless federal notes ('dollars') as payment for goods and services. Therefore Congress adopted the Legal Tender Act of 1862, forcing them (us) to use the fake currency in trade, instead of using gold and silver coinage.

This history helps me see clearly how we're in the same boat now. America's numerous ongoing 'wars' (interventions, occupations and 'nation-building' missions) may be lucrative for a select few 'leaders,' lobbyists and globalists, but they have created tremendous debt to be paid back entirely by 'we the tax slaves of the United States of America.'

It is time to for Americans of all religions to seriously consider why we've come to believe that America should be a global empire. And if it is true that lobbies in Washington, like The Israel Lobby [http://www.campaigniran.org/casmii/index.php?q=node/5785] are not in our best interest, we may urgently need to curtail such domestic and global influences. Unfortunately or fortunately, this may require another American Revolution, if that's even possible, given how our thoughts and perceptions are controlled by our mainstream media [http://www.sweetliberty.org/issues/shadow/jewishmedia.htm], and how we're now being led to believe the horrific notion that Iran should be America's next objective [http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123275466964911679.html?mod=WSJ_myyahoo_module].

Everyone knows that if you want to pass legislation in America, you have to title the bill, the act to secure freedom, security, choice or ...... because no one could be against freedom or security or choice. That would be un-American.

Lets introduce the Act for Free Choice in Currency. As Americans we are free to choose. Let us be free to choose our currency by repealing legal tender laws and allowing the markets to decide the value of money.

Gold and Silver would reign supreme and the Federal Reserve would die a natural death without having to attempt to "End the Fed".

Dr. Paul has the Library of Congress to provide him with the evidence. But there has been Murray Rothbard and Dr. Friedman. So it boggles my mind that people have been ignorant for so long.
