Well, Is It Time For A New Party?
(We really have to keep this posted for everyone to vote.
That means keeping this posted for at least a month's time for everyone who checks in with DP. There are thousands of us out there so lets be respectful and keep it going). To Vote go here:

The way I see it is we are in a political quandry. Things being what they are, Ron Paul is a Republican, because if he was not, he would not get to be Congressman and that we know to be a sad fact.
We, his supporters, are being 'barred' from giving him our total support because the mafia have things rigged real good, as the good, wise, G.Edward Griffin says, they stole the ship!
So, what do we do folks?
If we were to throw our energies behind the Libertarians, it would probably be pretty stressful given the Bob Barr episode and all the his die hards there.
I have always felt the LP suffered from a certain 'dullness' and ennui lacking true understanding and passion for Libertarian philosophy and Austrian economics.
I also believe they would not enjoy the likes of 'us' taking over their party and we would not be able to provide the entire bill of goods for those in our country that need us to be a viable choice.
Though I personally revere the platform of the Constitution Party, unfortunately, many there forget that we are a nation of many beliefs and philosophies and they really overdo it with the Christian thing there (not that I have anything against Christianity but its just not universal enough).
So that leaves the other alternative: A whole new party. This party would adopt the platform from Ron Paul's campaign and add a few more to boot.
I envision all of us and the future fallout from the Neo Libs and Neo Cons collectivists, Libertarians, and Independents as just thrilled about us and what we bring to this country through the establishment of a smacking brand new party.
I would also invite everyone who has not read the 'Creed of Freedom' from the Freedom Force International website. We could adopt this creedo because of its true universality for everyone:
http://www.freedomforceinternational.org/freedom.cfm?fuseact...
We could hold a type of 'name' proposal here on this site and keep voting until we arrive at a great name for the party.
Someone mentioned if everyone donated $100 we would actually have over $100 million bucks! Sounds like a good war chest for starters. We could get co-ordinators to help set up in every state. We are going to need thousands of signatures to get us registered, but frankly, I know it would be a joy to do it. Just a joy!!!!!!
We would also be the party that would abolish the drug prohibition and make proposals for legalization and offer drugs in controlled shops like Amsterdam while also offering detox centers from the profits.
I don't know about how you all feel about this, but I am truly ready, willing and able to put all I have behind a party that embodies everything we dream of but have had the doors slammed in our faces these past two years. I am sick to death of that and I believe a huge portion of our country is too.
I believe our time has arrived people. We may ask if C4L will support our efforts here and see what their limitations would be. We have huge support but we need to sew these motifs together now.
I will never forget how I felt during the Campaign for Liberty. That excitement has been fomenting since September. All of us need to put this 'BIG' energy into a vehicle that will be a force to reckon with.
So, what do you all say??

Parties are the problem. All of them.
There's too much 'party lines' crap going on in Washington with no regard for what is actually good for the people or the States. We should be pushing for independent members of Congress and independent Senators. Particularly Senators - personally, according to the Constitution I believe that Senators should be prohibited from being affiliated with any major political party. It's a conflict of interest as they're SUPPOSED to be representing their state, not their party.
If you're talking presidential then I think that realistically we're stuck with the two party system for some time to come unless we can make headway into releasing the stranglehold they have on the process itself.
Congress and Senate though - if we could start to fill the Houses with Independent statespeople who are not dragged along by the party behemoths then we can start to make some actual headway here. There are already a few Independents serving, we need to increase their numbers and find a way to help them get funded.

I say screw the GOP, just like they did Ron Paul!
You'll never take over the GOP effectively. They are more entrenched than the Democrats in their sellout to foreign controllers. THE only way (humanly) to regain the Republic, is to wake up the sleeping masses to the evil game the GOP/Democrats are playing. Like a wrestling match, these clowns put on a big show about debating the issues, but in the end, they already know the outcome. A new party, The Ron Paul Party, aptly named for the lone wolf who's been crying out for governmental responsibility for years. And then, we've got to wrestle the money control from the Federal Reserve, and put an end to all the wreckless behavior we are now seeing out of our Congress, that knows all too well, that they are having a lot of fun with their money printing schemes.

Am I the only one surprised
Am I the only one surprised how easy it is to take over the GOP and bring it back to its roots? Sure there's lots of opposition to what we represent, but at the end of the day it's about having the numbers and the knowledge of how to fight them. In my district we were only a handful of votes away from challenging the delegate slate. In Nevada, even some non-Ron Paul supporters got an eyeful of the tactics that their leaders were willing to stoop down to. Same goes with Missouri and Texas and many other precincts, counties, districts and state meetings where they played all sorts of dirty tricks. However, look at what happened in L.A. county where RP Republicans took over.
When I think of how the Republicans are having a difficult time attracting young people to the party (except Ron Paul of course) I can't help but see a shifting paradigm. Here's an interesting graph showing contributions by donation amount:
http://operationeducation.org/gop2007/donationsize.gif
Our numbers are growing... we have the message that is attracting young people. Our numbers will continue growing. Taking over the GOP is not a far-fetched idea. We need to stay focused. We need to show up, learn the ropes, learn who's who, learn how to debate our points, learn how to socialize and be friendly but stick to our principles. We need to help educate others and be prepared to be educated on some things. We need to find common ground when possible and realize when people are not prepared to listen to certain things.
I think participation in any party is worthwhile, but I believe success of the movement will hinge on the battle in the Republican party. To those that think the Republican party is dying and will just go away, I recommend checking out this book: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0974537616. Just as the Democrats haven't gone away, so too will the Republicans.
Not 'either or' but ALL...
All of the above. We create a patriot caucus base in both parties AND form an independent one. With common platforms for reform that transcend the old and corrupt left-right poles.
>Radical monetary / banking reform.
>Radical autonomy for cities and states to re-localize government.
>Complete dismantling of the police/surveillance state.
>Radical rollback of laws impinging on personal liberties.
>Use the Internet to implement popular initiatives. Rewrite the Constitution to allow referendums to overrule Congressional votes, e.g. such as enabling the people the to impeach or to intervene when Constitutional rights are being threatened.
(Actually, representative democracy is really now obsolete and dysfunctional.)
Let the U.S.A revert to a land of hundreds of decentralized, self-determined, self-governing communities.
Work inside both parties to push for these things.

There are 2 parties for you. When one disappoints you
the other will always fix problems just as they have always done. If you don't like your elected officials, a good friend of mine once said, "throw the rascals out". There's no easier way to assure a major shift in policy.
No matter whether you use
No matter whether you use the GOP or create a new party, the main problem you're facing is the same...Ignorance. You have to share the philosophy of liberty with the same people in either case. It's the philosophy that you have to sell, no matter what party you're in. It's the philosophy, not the party, that matters!
I'm personally choosing a different path entirely. I'm opposed to having compulsory government altogether, and I will work to reduce my participation in it as much as I can. Last November's vote was my last vote...I have no right to choose who runs my neighbors lives.
http://philosophyofliberty.blogspot.com/2007/06/philosophy-of-liberty.html
"I don't have a right to run my neighbors lives"
That is an interesting dilemma for us in the political sphere.
Do constitutionalists have the right to force their desired government over everyone else that lives in the geographical territory currently known as the "USA"?
What about the people that don't want a limited government? Ie. what about liberals (who want a welfare state) and conservatives (who want a police state)?
Shouldn't they be allowed to have their desired form of gov't as long as they don't coercively bind anyone else who doesn't want to be a part of it?
Seems to me like secession is much more inline with individual rights + liberty than electoral politics is.
*************************
A familiar song not forgotten. It was once sung by the likes of Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and many other brave men who's memory has long been publicly castrated by the tying their historic stand to the evils of a small group of rich men. I still believe in the right to secede because the 14th amendment was unconstitutionally ratified. Plus the sovereignty of the states cannot be constitutionally usurped by the Federal government since its power is derived from the States.
I would like to see a 3rd
I would like to see a 3rd party primary where we end up with one 3rd party ticket that all 3rd parties get behind to truly give a 3rd option.

Nay.
As I have explained in my post here, there is little or no hope winning through that method. All we would be doing is splitting the vote. Since 1858 third parties have done nothing but swayed the vote by siphoning off followers from the Democratic or Republican parties- we still ended up with a BIG party leader. I'm not trying to be offensive to any of you, but don't you guys want to win on something other than luck? Because that is exactly what you would be placing your bets on. Why bet the farm on a risk when there is easier avenues to pursue- which will yield the same but more likely results? Third parties may be a good speaking platform to get ideas out there, but in our modern system I wouldn't bank on them for a win.
yes
How the heck do you get rid of these zionist roaches/leaches/parasites with their endless supplies of money? It's only to continue to get worse until the zionist element is eliminated. Otherwise, you will find yourself choosing between the likes of a Bobby Jindal or Sarah Palin in the next election cycle.
Here is my opinion from an earlier post

NAY
I don't see us "Working Within" the GOP
I see us "Taking Over" the GOP
There exists a huge chunk of the voters who will only vote R or D, and no matter how much you try to make them see the logic of voting for someone outside of their preferred party - they wont budge, for example -their grandfather voted Republican, their mom voted Republican, and by golly - they vote Republican - even though the party today bears no resemblance to the party their grandfather voted for.
That party identity exists for almost 2/3rds of the voting public - and that is why its so much easier to put liberty candidates in office as R's and D's - We don't have to educate everybody - we just have to PIRATE the SHIP and they will continue to keep it fueled.

The huge question
is how to be counted, how to get on the ballet in all 50 states the very first time, how to be included in the debates the first year, how to have a shot at really winning the first time.
That is why, with the help of an attorney, I think we need to be a coalition of all parties against the NWO. Hopefully, with the help of an attorney, we could incorporate the progress that other third parties have garnered into this new third party and not have to start over at ground zero.
We are facing an uphill battle and we need to get dropped off high on the mountain by a hellicopter. We don't have time to mess around with rules and regulations meant to keep us from succeeding. We need a FAIL proof plan with attorney type viability that will really work.
How many lawsuits...
Have been filed to open up the debates and the ballots in past elections?
This has been tried over and over again...that is why Ron Paul works within the GOP, and why Ayn Rand advocated the same thing.
I trust their judgement.
Until WE take the reigns of the GOP - 3rd party runs for the White House are akin to jousting at windmills.

Is it viable ?
Ron Paul has to tell me if a new party can win and represent me...
you-no
Exactly
this cannot be overlooked. This should have already been done. Apparently, he does not believe it can be done. Apparently, he thinks the Republican party is the better way to go. And I certainly see his points. But wherever we go, we have to be big enough to bowl over the threats and demands that we cease and desist.
It's TIME for a RP'r CHARISMATIC CANDIDATE
who looks great, has a great background, masculine, strikingly articulate, a SEAN CONNERY kind of look, and who appoints Dr. Paul as the LEAD ECONOMIST in his administration AFTER he wins PRESIDENCY from O'bummer.
O'bummer!!!!!!! Fall down laughing!!!!
That's the best name for him that I've heard so far!!
Thanks - I've just adopted it as my very own. :o)

Michael McCloud anyone?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Cloud
Saw him, IIRC, in 1996 on CSPAN Libertarian convention. He was impressive enough for me to remember.
Wayne Allyn Root, Barr's running mate (I won't hold that against him, though I probably should) is charismatic. But he sounds too charismatic, perhaps glib, like a used-car salesman.
Got any videos?
Sounds good on Wiki. We need an answer from Ron Paul first and fast.
Nope.
Perhaps the CSPAN archive?
WHAT?
I can't believe what I read - this is sarcasm I hope ....
Looks - you want to vote for someone because of looks -
did you vote for Obama and Clinton?
I guess it doesn't matter what the message is ....
you want to vote for a person because of their physical appearance
and flowery speech ..... sheesh .... I hope I am dreaming!

The only problem is finding the "great background" part.
Aside from the 'Sean Connery' thing, you just described Constitution Party candidate Chuck Baldwin.
But Chuck has no political background. This is the key problem, IMHO. Dynamic and intelligent individuals will be easier to find than people with the required qualities who have also served in the state or federal government.

Most of those 'leader types'
Most of those 'leader types' early on in their careers realize their talents are best utilized as 'leaders', which means they go into existing organizations, either business or public sector ones. Then, before they ever reach the age where they are presidential material, they have spent a lifetime making connections and dispositions that make them unlikely to challenge the status quo. And even if they do, they'll likely have too much preexisting baggage to be considered genuine by people like many on this board. It's a tough problem, that's for sure....
This may change as society gets more and more f'd up, and the 'market' catered to by freedom champions grows. Especially for charismatic 'leaders' who reach fame and stature in mass media, like Reagan. This is still an area where being a bit of an outsider is not quite as detrimental as in most other high reward fields.
Say what you want about the Gipper, but being anti left in the Hollywood sixties, sure didn't do his acting career any favors. But, in mass media, one does have at least some shot at 'taking it to the masses' directly, bypassing entrenched old boys networks. As long as there's a large enough paying market at the other end, there tends to be ways to serve them. At least for now. If everything from now on has to follow bigO's fantasies about what is 'fair and balanced', who knows for how long that will last.
People shouldn't dump on Reagan.
Reagan was everything America needed on the conservative side of the equation. What happened to change dynamic presidential candidate Ronald Reagan was that he compromised his way to failure. By working within the existing GOP power structure, he soon became a puppet of the bankers and the military-industrial complex.
Actually, Reagan's failure is highly pertinent to the discussion topic of this thread. Because Reagan did exactly what the C4L advocates of "taking over the GOP from within" want to do. He worked within the system---which inexorably required compromise to win.
The result: Epic failure.

Thank you for pointing that one out Kevin. This is
a classic example of what occurs if we continually work 'within' a corrupted system. He was also used by the bankers/wall street. Those demons took great advantage of his Libertarian stands on the market.
Recall the Biblical inculcation: 'Do not put new wine into old skins'
Reagan stressed 'free markets' and the best way to free markets is 'de-regulation' he would say.
Naturally, he is correct in theory, but that is assuming we re-build a monetary and market system all over again 'without' the corruption.
Instead our current corrupt market/monetary system was 'deregulated' in the late eighties and eventually we got Enron and a host of white collar criminality, naked short selling, and poisons in our foods, clothing, and childrens' toys, etc.
Let us think about what this 'collectivist' sabotage did to the masses.
It created the ubiquitous group think, "free markets are evil they have to be regulated' by the government. That was quite clever of those CFR members involved in passing Reagans' deregulation bills without counselling about the repercussions of such laws in the current culture.
Isn't that what we hear now from the Obama zombies? Of course. The damage against free market capitalism is enormous. Just like their manchurian candidates they set up to shoot youth at the schools succeed at 'manufacturing consent' for gun controls.
It would be interesting to see if Ron Paul made any comments back then regarding this problem.
