Picture shows Phelps using bong

0 votes

The competition isn't the only thing he's been smoking!

Olympic hero and 14-time gold medalist Michael Phelps has been caught cradling a glass bong — a scene so potentially damaging to his career that his representatives allegedly tried to buy off the British newspaper News Of The World in an attempt to kill the story, the paper reports.

"He grabbed the bong and a lighter and knew exactly what to do," a witness said of the swimming superstar, who was in town visiting a gal pal and South Carolina coed.

"He looked just as natural with a bong in his hands as he does swimming in the pool. He was the gold medal winner of bong hits."

Joyce Reilly on the Power

Joyce Reilly on the Power Hour said today that the picture was found out to be about a year old, and that she found the timing of the story's release to be very interesting. Perhaps it's a diversion while something else bigger is going on that the old media is covering up. I'm curious if anyone else has heard about this.

I don't know where she got 1 year ago from...But ya, I agree that it's odd that it's just coming out now. I wonder if the person who had the picture just recently made a deal with Newsoftheworld.

You know I have seen many people act unruly, picking fights etc., while being inebriated on alcohol but I have yet to meet a violent stoner. Well, unless you steal his herb. :-p

Seriously though, I haven't smoked since high school but I still feel that we all should work towards eliminating the double standards imposed upon us. Even if we personally don't see direct benefits from there removal.

The media drools over this, but Obama's brother just got BUSTED

The media drools over this, but Obama's brother just got BUSTED this Saturday for possession; and yet you have to dig, dig and then dig some more to find ANYTHING about THAT:

(Personally, I don't think either "story" is worth half he ruckus the MSM is making just over the Phelps "scandal.")

I wish those in the media

I wish those in the media and any that criticize Phelps would read the bible verse about those who cast the first stone. I'm sure most of them have drunk a glass or two of alcohol before. A drug is still a drug. I don't care who made it legal.

Marijuana is NOT a

Drug per Biblical standards.

A pharmokia is a mixture / recipie of herbs.

Marijuana is Kaneh and mentioned in the Bible 5 times.

IT is a part of the holy anointing oil and incence for the temple.

Marijuana is only a drug by STATUTE.

Oh MY GOD!!! HE SMOKED pot?

I wonder if he breathes air, or drinks water as well?
I haven't smoked herb for about 20 years
(random tests at work)
but the fact that weed is still illeagal ,but alchahol and ciggarettes are legal just goes to show ya' that a bunch of politicans love booze and nicotene, and what YOU like matters NOT!

Does everybody

remember that Phelps' teammate / roommate is a Ron Paul supporter?

Not only that ...

Do you know where phelps trains and goes to school?

Hint: RP has fond campaign memories of the campus.

Hint #2: The University is famous for its annual "Hash Bash" on the quad.

Michael Phelps, Hypocrisy, and American Drug Policy

Not too long ago, Chris Matthews reviewed transitioning public attitudes towards marijuana by reviewing the statements of past presidential candidates about their own drug use, from Bill Clinton to Barack Obama:

Japan gripped by sumo pot scandal

Forget companies racking up multi-billion dollar losses and tens of thousands of workers being thrown on the scrap heap.

A sumo wrestler named Wakakirin and 16 grams of cannabis have managed to push the story of Japan's economic meltdown out of top spot in the national news bulletin.

Weak cliché Michael...

Why is it "bad judgment"? It was good judgment. Cannabis does wonders for ones mind and body.

Oh my! At least he can still be president?

After all, Obama partied hard, and even dealt drugs. Bush is a drunk driver that won't admit to not doing cocaine. Clinton "didn't inhale", Gore has lots of times (though at "Beaver" College (now has changed its name) where Gore gave a speech in which he told a student who asked, students should lose their student loans if convicted of pot-smoking). And the Kennedys!!! Keep your women locked up!

Yes, though unfortunately the immense hard work and honor Phelps achieved will be discounted, along with the honor and pride all Americans can share in, and he will lose millions in corporate product advocacy, he can still be president, or at least vice president.

And I can too.

In the picture

there is no smoke in the chamber?? Why'd he admit anything?

I'm trying to picture what it would feel like to be swimming

stoned ? I bet that feels good right now since it's friggen freezing out ! Who cares if the guy gets high ? most people do ! He's an adult !

It feels MARVELOUS!!!

oops! I can bring that moment back with perfect clarity any time I want and it was 5 years ago...hmmm

Paddling out on a longboard

Paddling out on a longboard with a big grin into the sparkling salty blue green Pacific on a bright summer's day with the cool water splashing over crisp slightly sunburnt skin is a sensation that everyone should experience at least twice.

Well this just proves....

that the killer weed will ruin your life.
I mean what has this guy done?
Its not like he has set any swimming records.
Oh maybe he did....never mind.

Just terrible, pot smoking athletes

This is a perfect example of why WE should NOT put athletes on such a pedestal. Horrible behavior.
Scientists, inventors, public servants, those should be our heroes.

Actually there IS a difference.

Alcohol is much, much more DANGEROUS than marijuana.

PS- All caps is only a violation if full sentences, or your whole post, are written that way.

U R right on both accounts...

as a user of both for many years in my youth, I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that alcohol is indeed much worse on the body and general quality of life. Alcohol is an order of magnitude worse while driving, and an order of magnitude more addictive, more expensive, on and on...

But that's all a moot point, bottom line is your body is yours, as long as you don't infringe on the rights of others. I wouldn't want alcohol illegal either.
