The Gamer rEVOLution Is On!

I'm posting this topic to explore an opportunity to create some viral momentum in game space.

If you play games, then you probably have a network of friends or perhaps a guild. See the ~save yOUR game~ video and see what you think. Thus far I have mostly positive comments, but I'd like to spread it around a bit. Please forward to anyone you think it would speak to. I'd love for some creative geeks to make some video responses.

I'm hoping for an alternative network of people spreading the word via videos, machinima, mods, guilds, in-game meetups and the like.
Kind of a rock-the-vote approach, but in the gamer subculture. Any thoughts?

Some Ron Paul supporters have already started doing this. There've been meetups in Runescape, a campaign HQ in Second Life, a Halo effort of sorts that appears to have been griefed out of existence, and a Ron Paul flash game. If anyone knows of any others, please pass this along.

There is a page now at http://gamers4paul.com/
(which I haven't done much of anything with, and is pretty hideous)

in response, some other Ron Paul supporters set up this page:
http://my.ronpaulspace.com/gamers4paul
which I linked to the gamers4paul page.....

My problem is that I don't have the resources to put the entire thing together in a way that would do the idea justice. If anyone sees value in this, please sign up. Start posting on the forum. If you're one of the Ron Paul supporters that have been already doing this stuff, post your adventure! If you want to develop the site into something cooler than my lame one-page blog, then by all means!

RON PAUL 2008, PEACE & FREEDOM FTW!

anyone have a community to talk with?

OK, so I'm hoping that some of us already have a presence on various game forums. I see some dispersed action, like people using RP 08 in their names and sigs on various boards (hl, cs, darkfall, halo, and more)

I don't want to spam boards, and thought instead I'd encourage others to organize in the spaces they already call home.

. . . . .someone asked me if gamers are old enough to vote. *wink*

If anyone is wondering, Gamers no longer represent the "14 yr old white male" demographic. check these statistics from the ESA:

TOP 10 INDUSTRY FACTS

1. US computer and video game software sales grew six percent in 2006 to $7.4 billion – almost tripling industry software sales since 1996.

2. Sixty-seven percent of American heads of households play computer and video games.

3. The average game player is 33 years old and has been playing games for 12 years.

It seems to me like a perfect group of people to talk with. Let's do it!

Steam

Hey I play on the steam network ( Team Fortress 2 ). User name is "<>RON PAUL<>", so everytime I make a kill his name pops up and so does a cool b&w profile of him. I get coments all the time on him.
Anyone else on steam? "Ron Paul 2008" is our group.

you should fraps it!

Hey Capitalist, that's awesome! I knew there was more going on out there......you should fraps a segment of it and put it on youtube: list it as a video repsonse to my vid.

Something to remember...

Young voters (18-29) have traditionally had a very poor voting record about 14% in a presidential election. Even less in primaries. So it's important they have all the necessary info to get to the vote. I know Ron Paul supporters are passionate...but lets make sure that when we are talking to people...even if they like Ron Paul ...we need to ge the extra mile and make sure they know how, when, where...to vote. If the young vote turns out heavily...Ron Paul will win hands down!

I like it. Maybe have a Ron

I like it.
Maybe have a Ron Paul clan.
Challenge others in like CS or something.
Spread the word.

Every little bit helps, and the gamer world is HUGE!

This is a great idea. I am a Halo3 fan, and my gamer motto is "Ron Paul 4 Pres." I play alot on the live (on line) and at the begining of every came I give a shout out to Ron Paul.

A good marketing tool to use is, Ron Pauls votes against regulating and taxing the internet.
