Secret Underground history of american education

I know dept. of ed. has been mentioned in a few forums-and i also know that some potential supporters get freaked out by RP's position on this.

This man's book www.johntaylorgatto.com helps explain RP's position on getting rid of the dept of ed. I know this has semi-freaked out some people [i'm not one of them],and this is hands down one of the best books i have ever read in my life!
I actually would venture to say that is an extensive coverage of American history. Any RP supporter would love this book!

again www.johntaylorgatto.com and read chapters, as well.

And one more-with a must-see video on you-tube [see link in thomadison's post below] www.deliberatedumbingdown.com Charlotte Thomson Iserbeyt-who was in the Reagan admin. dept of ed.

Why do think so many people home school

I supposedly live in one of the best school districts on Long Island ~ New York. Yet to me it was horrible. I also home schooled and now since my children are in high school I have them in a small private school. So much better except that I still pay the taxes for the public crap system.

Has anyone seen 20/20 Stupid in America?

Excellent books

Another good book is Ivan Ilych, deschooling america

http://www.davidtinapple.com/illich/1970_deschooling.html

He has a number of other works, and is a bit radical, but well worth the read.

I second the above post...

Especially the FREE ebook of Charlotte Iserbyte's book located at www.deliberatedumbingdown.com

It's quite the read, it will knock you off your feet, and you will do everything in your power to either change your public school or pull your kids out.

Great Post

This needs to be said more often, so people can understand why we don't need these bloated, corrupt government agencies!

Marx would be proud

Government education is one of the 10 Planks of the Communist Manifesto. In fact, our "leaders" have adapted all 10 Planks.

“Give us the child for 8 years and it will be a Bolshevik forever” -- Vladimir Ilyich Lenin

Fantastic book - I completely agree

One thing that struck me about Gatto's masterpiece, was that after reading Edward Griffin's book "The Creature from Jekyll Island", I noticed the same people that were responsible for establishing the Federal Reserve also were responsible for shaping public schools - JP Morgan, Nelson Aldrich, Frank Vanderlip, Warburg, Rothschild, and many others are littered throughout both books. Conspiracy theory?? Hardly. More like conspiracy fact.

This is a huge book, but don't let that scare you. It is an absolute must read. Who was it that said "Those who will not read, have no advantage over those that cannot read."

I take my marching orders from the Constitution!

Agreed.

Yes,a huge and delicious book!
Absolutely-he solidifies it for those still in the 'theory camp'.
But....he does not need to even go there,b/c the evidence speaks for itself. So it's an 'everyone can read it' kinda book recommendation, which makes my life easier!!! [Although, with the size of it,I have had some people look at me and to that I say 'He has a website-you can just read a few chapters! No worries, mate.']
Interestingly though-in one of the unschooling forums i've been on,there is alot of talk about our 'book worship culture' and how many other ways one can and does learn. I never thought about that being a deficit until it was worded just so.

I know that I, for one

was never exposed to a serious class on the bill of rights when I was in public school. I had to seek that info for myself.

There is a fanstastic site that will teach you everything you need to know about the consitution and the bill of rights below. It's a class that I suggest everybody watch. It is broken down into hour long segments and yes, it is very much like takinga college class. If that turns you off maybe you'd rather be watching American Idol? Consider this a free college course. It is more than worth your time I assure you. (I have watched it twice)

The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America

Here is a must see video for all parents who give a damn about their kids' education. There is a deliberate, systematic dumbification program in America. An ignorant, uneducated America makes for easier control over the population.

"No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can
any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffusd and Virtue is
preservd. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant,
and debauchd in their Manners, they will sink under their own
weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders." -- Samuel Adams

Yep,agreed. I mentioned that

Yep,agreed. I mentioned that in one of my reply posts, but forgot to in the OP> i will change it to include this.
BTW: Taylor's book goes even further than charlotte's. I'm not kidding.

I have no children in school but

Maybe someone could make a hand-out on the school situation that RP supporter parents can hand out at PTA meetings?

A little history lesson about it and how RP wants to change it?

Teachers would probably love it too!

Video on education

You might like this video about education.

It emphasizes the difference between yesteryear's objectives in education (factory work, following orders) and today's technology of collaboration.

A vision of student's today
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGCJ46vyR9o

One aspect of the larger machine

True, while the factory system has given way to collaborative, gatto discusses the demise of genuine academic learning, and a need for society to keep all individuals, including adults,as childish as possible,to maintain social order via the subconscious. As well, the difference is between schooling and education. school as a concept is flawed and was designed as such. technology vs. factory is in this regard irrelevant. It is all the same system of social engineering.
schooling is meant to keep things as abstract as possible, and that includes the use of technology. By keeping what is learned abstract, children never apply it to life, and therefore remain stunted in what they are able to do,until well past college.
They [those implementing this form of social engineering]have to keep a balance, though, and will make it seem as though they have yielded to demands to use technology,as though the people have chosen it for themselves.
I really recommend that every person at least check out gatto's chapters-he outlines very clearly how schooling was designed and has been used as the easiest, most effective, least resistant form of social control to engineer the loss of liberty. The scope of his research is staggering-our education system was taken directly from Prussia. What he discusses in such depth boggles the mind, and he quotes extensively about the founding fathers and other philosophers.
He would say we do not need a model or vision for a 'student'-It is these programs that have interfered with true learning.
He also says that genius is common as dirt.
I know that from this campaign-how many inspired, amazing people are involved in this-such as yourself! Thanks.

Maybe non-parents....

The only people who don't hate the Dept. Of Ed DON'T HAVE CHILDREN or don't care if they are taught drivel.

My mother was talking to someone about an unrelated matter. And the woman actually said, "if someone would come out and say to tear down the Dept. Of Ed, now that is someone I would listen to"... She of course directed her to Ron Paul... :)

I am a single father with precious little time to educate my daughter properly.... I have been looking at ways to do a proper home school situtation... But it is hard as a single parent.

My daughter spends 70% of her time studying for useless test and the other 30% taking them. They don't learn at all anymore.... In the fourth grade my daughter knows almost nothing! I take the time to educate her when I can on science, math, english, history, etc...

Many times I have to actually correct incorrect teaching from the school...

A Suggestion

Have you tried to find a home school cooperative in your area? Depending on where you live, there may be networks around you with people who can help. We take our kids twice a week to other homeschooling parents with specialized skills for high school instruction. You can find resources at www.HSLDA.org.

You only get once chance to educate your children before they are on their own.

Tell me about it

God I can only imagine. My 6 1/2 yr old spent kindergarten in a charter school that was supposed to be alternative-it was,it was not pressuring academically.
BUT he was bored, they teach to the curriculum and only the curriculum, not the child. It is so status quo and a manipulative way to socialize compliance.
My son lost so much of his joie de vivre.
To top it off,he was already getting little bits of info here and there of 'untruths'. I mean,so much about history and social science is not true-how could he continue to absorb that?
He told me himself that he needed a freedom school. That he hated how the teacher would tell him that they were in charge of the schedule, but they really weren't. [all of this political correct 'let's empower the children posturing'] And they spent an inordinate amount of time on 'conflict resolution' and learning how to be a friend.
I used to think this was great stuff, until I saw what it meant,in action.[former life long democrat here]. I am now homeschooling my son. I can imagine as a single dad how hard that would be-I think there are a few internet forums for single parent homeschoolers-lots of ideas and resources for finding a way to do this.

Another amazing person on this issue is charlotte thomson iserbeyt- www.deliberatedumbingdown.com she was in reagan's administration, until she began to realize what was going on [the 'change agents' they were planting in every type of social program and town hall, etc.] and she was let go eventually. catch her interview on you tube via sovereign solutions.
I love that your mom met someone who actually said she was looking for a candidate who would tear down the dept of ed!!! that's awesome.

I just posted a video of her

She is an excellent source.
Please try to ignore the corny music.

Hey Lauriem!

I thought your excellent post deserved at least another bump.

Did you see the Democrat debate just recently? At times, it seemed like they were running for School Superintendent rather than President. What concerns me is how enthusiastic the people are for federal control of education. Don't they know that federalizing it brings it down to the lowest common denominator?

Yes, the government needs to do more to bolster education...but that government is NOT the federal government; instead, it's the home, the community, the city, and the state.

Hey AJ Wyoming

Thanks so much-i just replied to your other reply(:
I know alot of us think 'yea yea,we know the schools suck.we went to them'. But his work is so much deeper than that. It outlines social engineering. In fact, the last line of the book:
"Time to take our schools back. If they mean to have a war,let it begin now." Referring to you-know-what!!! [hint: originally said by Captain John Parker, commanding the American milita against the British. April 19,1775) He's a founding fathers/liberty guy. This is not light reading-it's way dense and delicious in that way.(:
