If you believe in "State Sovereignty", make sure that you bug the hell out of your representatives to pass legislation like this. Also in your letters make sure that you call attention to the efforts of these states. Make them feel that their is a strong movement towards enforcing sovereignty outside of your individual state. That will give your representatives the feeling that their not totally leaving the herd. We need to make a firm push to get these bills actually passed- I'm not talking passive action...I'm saying assert your own personal authority as a citizen of your state. The power of your state derives from you, just as the Federal government's power derives from the states. It is long since past time that we reassert this authority. State Sovereignty will give us back our greatest line of defense against oppressive Federal government! From there we really can reverse all the harm that has been done to this Republic!!!!!!

Breaking news user "celeste" has posted that eight states which I have added to the above list are now pushing for reassertion of sovereignty!!!!!!
Here is a link to Celeste's post http://www.dailypaul.com/node/81826

Keep pushing your representatives!!!

Hamilton, though an ardent proponent of Federalism, admitted "an entire consolidation of the States into one national sovereignty would imply an entire subordination of the parts; and whatever powers might remain in them would be altogether dependent on the general will. But as the plan of the convention [the Constitutional Convention of 1787] aims only at a partial union or consolidation, the State governments would clearly retain all right of sovereignty which they before had and which were not, by that act exclusively delegated to the United States."

Yes

He's not in state government. It wouldn't be appropriate, per Federalism.

Good idea!

Unfortunately I don't have a video camera handy. However, as my contribution to what you've proposed I will cobble together a short film which will draw attention to these bills. Hopefully I'll have it up and read by tonight.

I also suggest contacting local newspapers and local public authorities. They may not listen but it is worth the time of just forwarding a pre-written message. I can't stress enough the importance of numbers, so don't overlook telling anyone.

Thank you

I'm a county coordinator for campaign for liberty in PA

And asked everyone to send the information to their reps. I know Rep Rohrer got this information, but if some more people could email his assistant at: alan@samrohrer.org we could get a good representative to sponsor the bill. (I also emailed him the gold money bill).

Great keep the snowball building!

I''m working on my representatives from Georgia (I urge you to do the same if anyone else if from Georgia- numbers count!!) and my gf is going to send some for her parents in South Carolina. I also plan to get my grandparents and family extended family in Maine to follow suit. We all have a stake in this so we should all take part. Keep holding them to the fire....trust me they won't burn!

Go Gerogia!

I have sent letters to my State Rep and Senator, too. I am waiting on their reply.

I just want to post that

I just want to post that in regard to this issue of sovereignty...if you boil it down to its base meaning it becomes the question....

Are We Free? Or Are We A Country Of Slaves?

Most people who have only lightly studied American slavery don't realize but, many of the slaves in America's history were allowed various privileges. Many could grow food for themselves, sell crops and keep the overhead money to buy things they may have wanted,.go to church, and also create and take care of a nuclear family. ....SO IS THAT WHAT WE ARE???? Are we also ALLOWED those privileges? Are we also slaves??? If so whom is our master?? The question is are we SOVEREIGN people whom compose SOVEREIGN states or are we not. Its that simple.

Sorry for all the caps but I wanted to stress those points.

A slave is not someone who owns nothing

A slave is one who only owns what his master says he can own.. I think Alan Keyes said that.

Yep, we're slaves.

However the linchpin of this form of slavery is...

However the linchpin of this form of slavery is the citizens complacency to not realize that there is no actual physical master. Who would enforce this slavery if the States stopped enforcing it themselves??? We have but to take the key from our pocket and unshackle ourselves from tyranny. The problem stems from a lack of awareness and fortitude on the part of those oppressed. However, that can be rectified by charismatic leaders screaming from the pulpits and the hunger in their bellies being felt.

The numbers are with the people not the politicians. There is no mythological army of "THEM". There armies are made of US.

Just sent this to my state reps...

Dear Assemblymen,

I urge you to draft and submit a resolution similar to NH's HCR 6. If you have not yet seen this proposed Resolution, I urge you to read it.

http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/legislation/2009/HCR0006.html

Other states, including MO, OK, WA, and AZ are introducing similar resolutions. We need to do the same here in NY.

It is time to follow the Constitution.

Good Luck with that

NY is just as socialist as my state of NJ, I'm looking forward to see how this all plays out so I know where to move to. HMMM if this goes well, maybe I can go to the Obama site & swap houses with someone looking to get out of a free state.

Lol. Well make sure you swap because the FRNs won't be worth..

Lol. Well make sure you swap because the FRNs won't technically be worth squat in a totally sovereign state- at least not permanently. That issue will quickly be challenged since the Federal government does not have the Constitutional authority to give its right to coin money over to a foreign entity. However asserting sovereignty in one state will give us ground to ask publicly and politically "Why is my state not sovereign? What is it then, a slave state??" And so melts the wax castle!!!

Spot on closing!

Spot on closing!

I just emailed my Indiana state legislators...

I emailed them and gave them a link referencing all of this and asked them to support these resolutions and asked them also to do the same for the state of Indiana. I told them the federal government no longer represents the people and we are tired of it.

I will be doing the same today in Indiana

Let's put a lot of effort into this. Word-of-mouth is powerful!

"There can be only one permanent revolution - a moral one: The regeneration of the inner man."
—Tolstoy

"The body is but a vessel for the soul,
A puppet which bends to the soul's tyranny.
And lo, the body is not eternal,
For it must feed on the flesh of others,
Lest it return to the dust whence it came.
Therefore the soul deceives and despises."

Great!

If everyone does this, as well as spread the word by mouth to all that they come into contact with, we may forge some REAL change from the fire of the populace's will. This could more than just safe guard us from Federal tyranny....it will have an effect on the economy as well!!! Freedom is a lucrative venture for all who participate!!

THIS IS HUUUGE!

How many will there be before the day is over?

Oklahoma Legislation

A Joint Resolution claiming sovereignty under the Tenth
Amendment to the
Constitution of the United States over certain powers;

So, NH, MO, OK, AZ and WA are all trying to assert their sovereign rights against the Federal Government. If you all start calling your reps now we might even get some more states on the ticket.

Change is here! Yeah!

Is this the change Obama was talking about? I know it's the change I hoped for.

I'm a Steelers fan but rooting for Arizona on this one. :-)

Preaching to the choir

You are some of the most well written, highly educated, ethically debatable, people with common sense. But you are preaching to the choir. We need to be posting this stuff on the Obama message boards. Obama claims to be looking for new ways & ideas on which way he should lead this country, let's give it to them.
Or am I totally off base? after all I have been drinking the water from jersey & I think its tainted with socialism (but I have been mixing in packages of Ron Paul Kool-Aid.)

Please enlighten them, they don't have a clue.

no chance

This issue has already been decided by the Supreme Court. The drafters needs to educate themselves. The Fed can condition money on whether a state adopts certain types of behavior. Example if they don't have certain driving legislation, the Fed doesn't have to give them Fed money for roads.

If you assert state soverignty the whole wax castle melts!!

Thus the states could receive more money from their more prosperous citizens on the grounds that they could protect us from such unconstitutional acts as Social Security, Federal Income Tax, etc. That money would not be taken from the people, siphoned off, and then regurgitated by the Federal government in small chunks to those states they favor. People would spend more because they would have more.
Plus the state share of taxes could be raised, reasonably, by the people voting to do so in order to keep their state prosperous and healthy.

I would be MORE than willing to yield more taxes to MY OWN personnel state, if I could get the Federal monkey off my back!!!

My state's health directly benefits me and thus I would tend to it. Most people would grasp that concept if they didn't have the Federal government telling them...."Oh God, that could never be pulled off without our help. You guys are to poor!!!".

Once again (say it with me people)- If the states derive their power from the people, and the Federal government from the states.....then who is the ultimate arbiter of the Constitution?? Damn it we ARE!!!!!! So how can a small group of men dictate what WE can or can't pass???? If we are not sovereign then what are we????
