Doesn't the 17th amendment take away the states' right regarding election of senators to the U.S. congress?
While I think most politicians (not statesmen) are crooked to some degree, I would rather have state legislators electing a U.S. Congressman instead of special/corporate interests. I surely think mis-guided sheep do a dis-service to our country in this regard and do not trust their understanding of civic duty.
What's the point of a congressional candidate raising millions of dollars from special interests when there is no need to run a multi-million dollar campaign just to hoodwink voters.
Of course, there's concern for special interest's influence on a state legislator's vote for a U.S. Congressman.
What do you think about the 17th amendment?
