MADD says it'll keep up the fight in Wisconsin despite layoffs
http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20090204/GPG0101...

"Hurley said the cuts came because the state MADD had accumulated a $375,000 deficit over the past several years."

"Kari Kinnard, who was laid off as MADD Wisconsin executive director, told The Post-Crescent of Appleton last week she is planning to create a new consortium to work for tougher drunken driving laws."

Hm-mm. MADD has three paid staff people and about a million dollars in annual income, yet they are $375K in the hole?

It's just a money making business...

They are taking something and exploiting it for money. If they really cared about getting drunks off the street, they'd have a large volunteer pool of people who would offer to drive people home or donate a cab ride.

Instead, they turn it into a career and take a hefty salary.

They have very few, if any, volunteers. Almost 100% of their known existence derives from press releases and news interviews by one mad mother (Kari Kinnard, who has now been sacked). Beyond that, they are not a real organization, sorta like Al-Quada.

About two years ago, I went to their Milwaukee headquarters and met with their leader for an hour. Their office was pretty big for a 3-person operation and very messy. MADD is basically a fiction created by some foundation money and a willing press. Whenever there is a drunk driving accident, like ambulance chasers, MADD is out there to take advantage of the situation.

This is a gestapo. They love checkpoints, they hate your rights.

They are so obsessed with alcohol laws that they don't have any concern whatsoever about the Constitution. Except how to circumvent said Constitution.

They are a perfect partner with our State and Federal arms of the USSA.

Don't criticize them or that means you condone drunk driving. Just go along.

I spoke with an

I spoke with an investigative reporter here in Wisconsin for a major newspaper. They are going to pull their tax returns.

Also, since they get money from the state government, they are subject to open records laws, so they may file a rquest on that as well.

If three employees ran up $375,000 in debts, there is some funny business going on. All they do is pay three people a salary, issue press releases, print up lit, and the executive director travels around occassionally to give speeches. There's no way that with the money they have coming in that this should have happened.
