What about the equal pay for women law that Obama signed?

How do you think that's going to work out?
I can just see "John" called in to the boss's office. " Well, you know John the company now has to pay the same wages to both you and "Mary" so we'll have to lower your salary to match hers.
I see it coming!
Anyone disagree?

some examples, please
This has been the red herring of all red herrings for a number of years now !
Can someone give some examples of:
- a male and a female ER nurse, working alongside each other, with equal qualifications, and work experience, where the female makes less money than the male, because she is a woman ?
- a male and a female bank teller, working alongside each other, with equal qualifications, and work experience, where the female makes less money than the male, because she is a woman ?
- a male and a female electrician on a construction site, working alongside each other, with equal qualifications, and work experience, where the female makes less money than the male, because she is a woman ?
- any other male and female worker, working alongside each other, with equal qualifications, and work experience, where the female makes less money than the male, because she is a woman ?
I could go on till hell freezes over, but you get the gist of it … right ?
Some examples, please … anyone ?

Jobs are rarely equal
In the real world, few people do exactly the same work, so comparing pay from one person to another is usually fruitless.
If our government wants "equal pay," then it will have to define and classify job descriptions (similar to the way unions do), then monitor objective pay rates for each, disregarding the intangibles (quality, flexibility, initiative, etc.). This will become a mine field (temporarily) for management, but they will eventually figure out how to satisfy the letter of the law while at the same time doing what is necessary to run their business.
My prediction: in the short run, some men will get pay cuts, some women will get pay increases. In the long run, employers will assess the likelihood of "equal pay" problems with potential employees and, surprise, will find that the most qualified candidates are those unlikely to sue. Probable result will be: some people will carry the unspoken stigma of being a possible legal hazard. They will find it harder to get a job in the first place.
Or, we could see an explosion in the number of job titles as employers try to differentiate various functions to preserve some kind of merit pay.
No matter what, it will become another paperwork and legal nightmare.
The "equal pay" idea has been debated and discredited many times over. I thought it was dead 20 years ago.
As long as
we can increase the size of government in order to enforce it...maybe create some new departments and militarize them, I'm all for it.
Equal pay to go with pay
Equal pay to go with pay caps. The next step up the socialist ladder. Perhaps Marx is correct. The State will eventually become so large that it will be rejected, collapse or be overthrown by the people leaving us with Communism. Keep going govenment fools.
grant
can they
do equal work?
2Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Does this new law take merit
Does this new law take merit into consideration? I would hope that the justification for higher pay, or any pay for that matter, is merit.
...
That women arent "worth as much "because they cant commit
to the job because of maternity leave etc is a cop-out. Men can enjoy all of the same family-type benefits. I say that the big picture demands equal pay for equal work. If it turns out that a bad side effect is the lowering of wages of other workers to level it all off at some workplaces, then so be it.
Do you know how socialistic...
and feminine that sounds. We love our wimmin' and we think you should be treated fairly but, to lower one persons salary to match another, nuts. I think wimmin' should get paid fairly for the same work as men especially when they serve in the infantry. Be careful what you wish for.
ha! : ) I guess that DOES sound a bit socialistic and femnist
Looks like a may have a stripe I wasnt aware of lol. Im simply addressing hypothetical payroll budgets. To fairly utilize the pie- some may be required to put a líl back so everyone gets the same sized piece. If thats socialistic/feminist- then Ill own that. And theres a silver lining for the guys who would like to stay home and be "house husbands". If the pay is equal then a couple can decide who they want as breadwinner.
You’re right.

Never should have been unequal in the FIRST place!!
Pay should be based on how well a person does their job...not GENDER!! Good point though.
You gotta know when to hold 'em...
