JURY POWER in the system of checks

As we see the States starting to assert their powers with recent resolutions about the 10th amendment we also need to assert our own power as jurists. Unconstitutional laws will be powerless if we, the people, will not convict our fellow citizens. We must protect our fellow citizens from this tyranny by jury nullification. At the link below is a great article about it.

JURY POWER in the system of checks
and balances:

In a Constitutional system of justice, such as ours, there
is a judicial body with more power than Congress, the
President, or even the Supreme Court. Yes, the trial
jury protected under our Constitution has more power
than all these government officials. This is because it
has the final veto power over all "acts of the legislature"
that may come to be called "laws".....

Is this different than the concept of jury nullification?

Also, I would ask, is there a different in right to jury trial in civil vs. criminal cases?

I thought I had heard that in certain situations, one does not have a right to a jury trial, but that the case would be decided by a judge. Is that true?
