I'm Curious. How many here on DP were involved in the political process this past year and what did you do?

0 votes

When I say 'political process' I mean did you get involved in the caucus becoming a delegate or alternate delegate for Ron Paul in the Republican Party? If so, are you still committed?

I am asking this because it can be invigorating to see the 'actual' service of others for your information! There is a question as to what direction we 'as the masses' ought to take for 'housing' and a 'vehicle' of our unique and universal platform. Perhaps the Republican Party is too tainted for us to be able to install and/or re-ratify our platform in its purest of forms and executed them appropriately vis a vis the rest of the country.

If you disagree with this that is your perogative, but allow others the freedom to share, after all, everyone who came forward at the caucus to be a delegate already became 'publicly exposed' silly.

There is nothing 'secret' about that is there? It was an honor and I believe we all ought to respect that!

(I also ask this because I also suspect that many that come to this site are just a bunch of deadbeat 'hotheads' who haven't done a stick of work for this movement and don't plan to either)

As a Canadian

my contribution is educating others about the American constitution and Ron Paul, mostly by online activities.

There are many groups all over the world who admire and respect Ron Paul for the great statesman that he is. Please remember the international groups who support Dr. Paul and his philosophy.

ok, i've seen this post a while

i was involved from day one.
i registered as a republican.
i was the assistant organizer for the ron paul meetup in belfast.
then became the organizer.
i donated to the campaign.
i attended county meetings.
i was nominated and then unable to continue due to politics. (it was weird.)
i went to the rnc here in maine as a state ron paul delegate and tried for national. (my two sons also.)
(we wound up with 1 national ron paul delegate.)
i spent an endless amount of hours talking about and giving out literature to people about ron.
i am still a member of the republican party.
i'm not sure what to do with that now.
the only republican i can get behind is ron.

oh yeah, i forgot to add - that i had NEVER been involved in a presidential campaign before and said many times "i've never been so excited about a presidential campaign in my entire life!"

and that was obviously because there was never a presidential candidate like dr. ron paul - EVER!

Ron Paul is my President

Ron Paul is My President

Not much

I only put on my Ron Paul t-shirt..and took long walks...through town..through Wal-Mart..the grocery stores and so on...I turned my once fun..carefree adult chat room into a hot bed of topics..running most out by doing so (they where not interested) but changing the minds of a few who went on to pick up and tell others...made somewhere in the area of over 1000 phone calls...made a few home made signs..small one and posted those up..only about 100 or so..while standing in line at the stores to check out...I would speak to people in line...commenting on the stories in the trash rag mags..and then telling them where to find the real news..I wrote..more than once..the Southern Party and begged them to join us here..I have come up with ideas....(such as once a week getting freiends together..wear your Ron Paul, or End The Fed tshirts and walk through the local walmart for an hour each week...see if you could get on local tv-radio shows to give the facts...call into shows like the C-Span where callers call in and give opinions..leave messages on boards..I left a few on the message board of The Rise Guys..a popular radio show in 3 states that is also streamed through the country and even men and women in Iraq stream and read the boards..and so on) only to be shot down and sent private emails saying I need to back down..Im worthless..my ideas suck...Im useless..and so on down the line....there was a few more things but...it was all worth it.

I was extremely active years ago,

recruited candidates, ran campaigns, got others elected, got myself elected to state legislature, but this time around I just gave the max to the RP campaign, helped fund the blimp, and painted a sign for the front yard: http://www.flickr.com/photos/36494393@N00/2098648668/in/set-... It was my second time voting for Ron Paul for President.

Since the primaries I've been focused on survival preparedness, forming a food co-op for bulk purchases and a manufacturing company, Preparedness Equipment, LLC. I should have a business Web site up in a week or so.

not much, as it turns out

First I donated $50. I did sign waves and always stood in the right hand turn lane with literature to pass out. I NEVER saw sense in just waving a sign! Then I became a regional coordinator, then a state co-coordinator. I put a RP rally together, and fought the campaign staff tooth and nail to make it a success. They were far worse than "not helpful." They waffled on location, date, everything to the point I was afraid no one would show up. It got advertised for the wrong city at the wrong date, because someone from the campaign told another regional coordinator a lie. Sorry, shall I sugar coat that? Gave wrong information to him.
My husband is far more "electable" than me, so I ran a campaign to get him elected PCP. I canvassed our precinct three times. I canvassed 6 precincts in mine and the adjoining counties, some for people who never bothered to canvass their won... I spearheaded a phone call effort to get PCPs around the state, I lost count but it was over 100 people I walked through the PCP and convention processes, the blind leading the blind. I would figure out the regulation, code, rule, whatever, and tell everybody as soon as I figured it out. We really focused on getting to know the businesspeople in our community. My husband lost his PCP race, but the lady who won resigned and nominated him to replace her, so he is the PCP after all. Meanwhile, we became State Committeeman and Woman for our county. We were delegates to the State Convention and the Ron Paul bound delegates to the RNC.
I fought to have our "Ron Paul" candidates take a big stand on the "Sound Currency Plank" we were SO proud to have added to the state platform. They REFUSED to discuss it. This includes a personal friend of Ron Paul's and Phil Hart of "AFTF" nominal fame. REFUSED to discuss it. Our state central committee meeting was last week. Turns out they STILL refuse to speak out boldly on any position. The folks in the meetup now designate the other state co-coordinator as THE state coordinator, denying my very existence, which really hurts. At the RNC, our spokesman pretended we did not exist, and cast our states delegates for McCain as if it were unanimous. NONE of the Ron Paul bound delegates complained except my husband and I. The people I sent all the information to have been scattered to the wind, and the meetup organizers took a vote and decided to refuse to allow me to post events. (I was doing free 9-11 movies and End the Fed protests. Ron Paul himself stabbed me in the back on those efforts. Chew on that. I chewed on it (and similar things) all I could, and I no longer respect or trust him. Sorry.)
So, now I am deeply in debt, ironically enough. I was 2 years from completely out of debt except the home I lived in, but we decided we would do ALL WE COULD, and that included maxing out the credit card. I have no allies left, they all insist I shut up about whatever their pet peeve is. When I want to discuss PRACTICAL things like barter networks, or off-grid technologies, because there is NO political solution that can happen fast enough, gang, be realistic... Anyway, I am called a quitter or worse...
Now I advocate for truth. I had my own son chew me a new butt-hole this weekend because I am through letting men tell me the creator is a man. It is stupid, it is verbal laziness, and it is insulting to the senses when women clearly have a part in creating life... So, I politely point this out to a guy who is eating my food in my home... He acknowledges my point, and 2 sentences later is back with the "Heavenly Father" crap. I told him I insist on a place where the creator can transcend gender; my home. He left, my son got mad and said I would never have any more friends if I act like this. Well, I don't WANT friends that insist on speaking in lies. If this man had given me a rational explanation for why he insists the creator is a man, or even indicated he truly believed the creator is a man, I would leave him to his beliefs. But he ADMITTED the creator transcends gender, and continued to engage in verbally reinforcing a deeply entrenched lie. If we want TRUTH to be honored, WE must honor it with every breath!
I have this AMAZING blessing of a handful of people who can stand at the edge of the abyss with me, stare in, and not fall. I won't say I never blink, but at this point in my journey I have no need of friends who are unable to sustain the view. They hold me back - draw me into the fear games and such.
I know there are a handful of you here. You may not agree with MY understanding, but you agree with the notion of honoring TRUTH. Thank you, you are the few who are actually fighting the GOOD fight.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

Truth

is extremely important. What is more important than Truth? Love.

paul4won!!! RIGHT ON!!!!! RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!

(((((((((((((((((( paul4won ))))))))))))))))))) My hats off to you with deep appreciation and respect.

I have never seen anything like the RP campaign in my life. I was really excited about Ron Paul because I had NEVER voted for a major party candidate, and he was my first. I worked for Nader's campaign the past three elections, and I LOVE working for Nader because it's an education about states and fed campaign and elections, and their systems (the corruption). When Nader called I told him, "Not this election, I'm going with Ron Paul." (trust me, I am not alone in Nader supporters who ran off and joined the rEVOLution, and this hurt Nader, because we had training. I've been an electoral registered voter the past three elections).

I started a Meet-up, (Steve Kubby joined, who was a nominee for the Libertarian Party), convinced my sister to start a Meetup in the Great Basin, I joined the Meetups in a 400 mile radius and my Ron Paul rEVOLution banner remained up for over 4 1/2 months. Of course I met allot of Ron Paul supporters, and made friends, like you, and lost friends (not, but you know.) I noticed the Republicans were not being contacted by the campaign... it was all sales, for slim jims and BS signs that didn't even say "for president".. we spray painted that on the signs, And I got into it with staff, who appeared hell bent on making sure Ron Paul was NOT elected. I would not join the GOP after so many years with Nader. At first my sister and friends who did join the GOP were calling me traitor.. but as the election progressed, they began complaining how they felt duped by Ron Paul who was trying to save the GOP. And that's all it was. Ron Paul ran to save the GOP, and make Nader irrelevant. Now Ron Paul is a MSM economic star.

I love Ron Paul and Ralph Nader and I believe both men are as good as it gets when it comes to politics. I consider both my leaders in response to Obama and his administration.

My sister did what you did and everyone who joined the GOP, left the GOP. GOP is a corrupt shell for a Duopoly that profits off elections.

THANK YOU for all you and your husband did. Your spirits, our spirits was a great high.. It was GREAT because of YOU!~!!!

I don't know about you guys, but I just love

reading about all the amazing efforts and activity people put out from their hearts and minds this past year and half.

That is why I posted this.

Back in September when the Campaign for Liberty hosted our own convention here in Mpls, I will never forget in the line up at the mall waiting to have our books signed by Ron, I talked to people from all over the States and Canada that came for this amazing event. We each exchanged such invigorating stories about our involvement.

So being able to share that here as a record not just for posterity, but to also show the rest of the country and the world that we are a 'political force' to reckon with.

It ain't over, its just the beginning. Because the bubbling enthusiasm that we all hold so dear spills over so many times in our day to day conversations with those who don't know it yet.

But this is a 'viral' thing and as the news gets out after each State Republican party election and more and more of our folks take their places. Things are gonna change because we 'want' them to and we are willing to do the work.

Campaign for Liberty will be offering crash courses throughout the State to 'groom' those delegates/alternates. So I hope you are all members of C4L by now and if you are NOT, go here ASAP and get involved now!

This was the third

poll like this that I've seen on DP. Have you looked at the past folders on this topic? Blood sweagt tears laughs, love... its amazing as you say

I am aware of 'the surveys' as some call them. I sensed a

need these days for a 'camp fire' where all of us have a chance to tell our stories. People have so much wisdom when their thoughts are centered especially when it is something our hearts were intensely involved in.

I know its so hard for so many of us to do this kind of work. We have our obligations, our families to look after, some are in college, some unemployed, others would like to be involved but they have intense duties. So we do what we can.

My husband practices Tibetan Buddhism, and one of the monks say, "All we have is 'time', we can do something with the time given us".

District and state

delegate, precinct leader, helped fight real ID in my state,( just got a bill on the house and also one on the senate floor this past thursday ( at least was involved since last year at the general assembly, organized end the fed rally for my city., Attended 2 rallies in Dc and the rally for the republic. gathered signatures for a constitutional candidate for attorney general for my state, gathered signatures for Ron Pauls hr 2755and now ( what is the new one? ) made phone calls and emaile to reps on important issues, Visited them too. Who Knows what else. Many marches and sign wavings. Exuse my typos I'm tired. I've been speading the message and trying to educate others and finding like minded folks along the way. not to shabby for someon that can't drive much. Luckily my husband is also dedicated. I would like to thak you all for the information I have picke up here on DP :) worked the polls in the icey rain. Wish I could do more and will.

I came to the DP...

more as a sideline spectator than anything else. I've done alot of reading and studying about a variety of subjects and became involved at a local level trying to educate others [during the election]
I wish I could stop caring, but I can't. I know the truth and it would be wrong to keep it to myself. The biggest challenge I am seeing right now is waking up the locals to whats coming down the pike. It bothers me alot to see the fast paced erosion of what America once was and what its becoming while our elected officials 'play politcs'
I threw my name in the local race in a last ditch effort to 'wake them up'.
To give an idea of what I am up against locally....young people Ive spoken with think rewriting the Constitution and globalization are good things.
News people that don't believe me when I tell them that when we ratify UN treaties, we fall under international law.
Ive given websites and places to get more info, but unless they hear it on the evening news, they thinks Im nuts and its not going to happen.
In the very least, I hope the others in the running are clearly informed of what could happen.
I am frustrated and do not know what else to do except not give up.

My husband and I

were elected county delegates
and I went on to become a state delegate. Also,I got my brother in law involved with the Ron Paul movement and he became a national delegate.

I was elected as a county

I was elected as a county delegate and spoke in front of 3 precincts during the NV caucus for RP.

yep

Elected as a delegate to the county convention. Elected as an alternate delegate to the State convention. Appeared before the State GOP credentials committee and testified to the illegal certification of delegates at county. Exchanged badges with another delegate in front of election staff, and served as a voting delegate on the last day of the state convention.

reply

I maxed out my donation to the presidential campaign at $2,300.00

My husband and I did, too

we also canvassed our neighborhood, and waved signs(bet you did, too!)

this is what we did

My wife and I along with our oldest son were state delegates for Ron Paul. My second son was an alternate. We gave to RP's campaign till we coluldn't anymore. We handed out more than our share of slim jims. I still have a 2'X4' sign on the end of my road and on my mail box! Everyday is another opportunity for all of us to tell the truth and inform those around me. Right now it's an easy sell. I have never seen so much interest in political events. Fear is good motivation for people to get informed. I still bother my representatives in congress, not that it does any good it seems. We are in this to the end.

Here's a quote for you

"The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility and out of self-interest for himself, his family, and the future of his country to resist government abuse of power. He rejects the notion that patriotism means obedience to the state. Resistance need not be violent, but the civil disobedience that might be required involves confrontation with the state and invites possible imprisonment" - Ron Paul

Thank you! very encouraging qoute from the man himself!

I was

an alternate to the MN state convention.

I'm a late boomer in the political process.

Yeah, I bought all that mom, apple pie and red white and blue forever growing up in the 50's like most everybody else did.

At seventeen I got this bright idea to become a U.S. Marine. I had to pinch myself that wasn't a bad dream. When I got to boot camp I wondered what happened to mom, apple pie and the red white and blue ? These people were out of control sadists, slapping, kicking, sucker punching, and torturing us in recruit training. Obviously they were not winning my "hearts and minds". It took awhile to figure it out. We were not the protectors of the "Bill of Rights, our shoreline, our homes, like we thought we would be, but American Pirates, Shanghaied, into Colonial Capitalism.

I pretty much kept my Marine experience to myself, excepting not letting my two children go. My son, at 12, somehow got to go to Junior Army boot camp with some older kids; I never had to tell him not to join after that.

Around 2003, I learned how to use a computer and migrated over to a couple quasi Marine Corps web-sites. At first, I was accepted by the brotherhood of phony tough and crazy brave and my service applauded, Cuba and Vietnam. Then, when I started "truthing", all hell broke loose. Before I could get banned another former Marine, a Black Sergeant told me about Ron Paul. At first I ignored checking Ron Paul out, basically my mind-set was '"Fuk" politicians. This former Marine sergeant kept urging me to check Ron Paul out, and as a favor to him I did.

Ron Paul restored my faith in,"what could be", and I became an active supporter with time and money. I joined a local meet-up, canvassed my neighborhood getting petitions signed, passing out slim Jim's, signs in my front yard, signs at my polling station, signs in the neighborhood, bumper stickers and donating to the money bombs.

I have no regrets and would gladly do it again, even knowing we wouldn't win. Some things are worth dieing for.

I love hearing military stories

of people in the military, or once in, who totally are awake to how they were used and what is going on.

MMMMM, LLL, this is interesting....

how you might not have got to hear this dear man's story that you so enjoy, if I hadn't 'bumped' my post as you accused me so nastily earlier?

Many posters here feel compelled to reply or make meaningful comments in addition to others' comments.

Remember, there are rules, yes, and then there is the 'spirit' of the rules. Maybe it would help if you were to read Bastiat or Montesquieu's 'Spirit of Laws' to better get what I am saying.

Anisha

I admired you earlier for ignoring my admonishment. I even added that a post that is not self bumped will fall right off. I have bumped my own posts before. At the moment I wrote my reluctance to go on and on about what I have done, that is the way I felt. Seeing the topic stay up so long makes me realize others found it encouraging and I can see that and that is why I posted and bumped it again. To ask everyone what they have done strikes me as writing the history of the world. It is just all encompassing and accomplishes nothing, but now I see it accomplishes encouragement. But I was not intentionally being nasty, just disagreeing with the premise of the post and finding it to be self indulgent. But that is ok, self indulgent works well for most people. Congratulations on taking the opportunity to strike back. I thought you had your emotions well in hand, but I see you can be thrown off, just like the rest of us. I just see very, very meaningful posts drop straight down the column because no one will put in the effort on those, but put up another type of post and it stays forever. I guess people need posts that I find frivolous and self indulgent. That's ok by me. I just would love to see more of the really important issues stick around. I also don't like talk shows where the guest goes on and on ad nauseum about himself. I don't like talking about myself. I find it boring. But stories from military always grab my interest. That is not talking about self and how great self is but rather explains something most of us will never experience and gives a different viewpoint. If your title had called for those stories only, I would have been right there.

The best way to deal with counter productive post?

Ignore the hell out of them!

:) But true! That is what I normally do. That is what I thought Anisha had done originally and I was having good thoughts about her. I just disagree with the premise of this forum, but most don't, so I am outvoted. That is ok. I find myself out of step often. No problem. I also don't like most of the television shows on tv, but most certainly do.

Thanks Ralph!

I'll remember that next time. ha ha
