CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts (CNN) -- When libertarians question the merit of President Obama's stimulus package, a frequent rejoinder is, "Well, we have to do something." This is hardly a persuasive response. If the cure is worse than the disease, it is better to live with the disease.
In any case, libertarians do not argue for doing nothing; rather, they advocate eliminating or adjusting policies that are bad for the economy independent of the recession. Here is a stimulus package that libertarians can endorse:
Repeal the Corporate Income Tax: Repeal would spur investment, improve the transparency of corporate accounting, slash compliance costs, and avoid the distortions caused by the special-interest provisions in the tax code. Repeal can work fast, by raising companies' share prices, increasing cash flow, and allowing corporations to lessen their need for bank lending.

Morin is a Moron
Cutting income taxes on corporations doesn't create jobs. This is classic trickle-down economics that doesn't work.
Raising the gas tax just takes more money out of the pockets of the lower and middle classes, the people that need it most.
Opening up immigration in a time on rising unemployment is just foolish.
This guy Morin/Moron is a conservative, not a libertarian.
Better solution: cut income taxes on lower and middle-income individuals and families, flip the FICA tax from a 98K cap to a 100K floor, and incentivize job creation by tax breaks for OJT for both employer and employee, with double amounts for small businesses/LLCs/partnerships/propriertorships.

Alcoholic
The analogy of the US government to an alcoholic seems to work so well on so many levels.
I would counter: "Well, we have to do something." with: would you give whiskey to a recovering alcoholic? That's EXACTLY what the stimulus bill is. It's giving whiskey to an alcoholic.
Another way of putting it is: The stimulus is like trying to cure a hangover with more drink.
Yes, the economy is sick because it's a debtoholic. It drank too much debt and now it has a hangover. Now they want to give it more debt to cure the hangover.
So
The price of food is going up. Is everyone here so rich that the servants only go grocery shopping and you never see the bill.
Biflation. Its new! Its never been seen! Its the future!
The NWO is going to starve the proletariat but they wont care. The can afford a BMW now. Remember. Inflation is a tax. They will get there money. By inflating the food prices and deflating the luxury items. Its a switch-a-roo.
force vs. voluntary
Every single person can have their own ideas on how to fix the economy. Try to put these ideas into these two categories -- ideas which involve the use of force when implemented and ideas which cease using force and only involve voluntary cooperation.
He had some decent
He had some decent suggestions, but I sure disagree with opening up legal immigration at a time when people are losing jobs hand over fist. He certainly called it right on the wars and was right on entitlements but probably didn't go far enough. He is painfully right about social security and medicare. I am getting very close tor retirement age and would like very much to know exactly how this is going to shake out so I plan for retirement or not to retire. This nonsense about the government just pretending that social security is going to continue on unchanged is ridiculous. Just give us the truth so we can make adjustments.
