Looks like Nevada, Washington, Florida and Tennessee are all below the national averages for property taxes. I think Nevada and Washington seem like the best options. Also, if you live across from Portland in the state of Washington, you can avoid sales tax by shopping in Portland.
I dont understand why
Tennessee is in the yellow, I pay income taxes, what does that mean?

Federal Income Tax, then I would sit up and take notice.
I would rather have no property tax-
than to not have an income tax. Then again, I thought the conquered were supposed to pay the tribute, not the citizens of the conquering country.

We may not have Income tax, but they make it up other ways.
Gas tax is pretty high. Property tax, and vehicle registrations are pretty high too.

Yes, no income tax is great. The problem we run into now in Texas....lets say you lose your job. Now I have a $6,000 property tax bill due and NO income. Personally I would prefer an income tax vs. the high property taxes that NEVER end. And think about this, can you really retire if you get a property tax bill? Yes if you have enough in your retirement account, and Social Security (right), to cover it.

I've asked before: is there anywhere in this country you could go and have no property tax?
There are ways to live off the grid and such, but property tax is the number one problem. I would desperately love to get rid of property tax everywhere.
Sales tax, gas tax, I have no problem with. But if I OWN something, I want to own it. Property tax means I basically don't own it--not when they can come get it if I don't pay every year.

stop saying you have no problem with taxes that we shouldn't have. Taxes are suppose to be levied against foreigners. Our problem here is spending. Our government is way out of control. We have half the country or more on our payroll. The government is what needs to come tumbling down, not our economy. Get rid of 9/10ths of the government and the economy will spring back.
