A fight for control of the Oklahoma Republican Party is shaping up between mainline Republicans and the Ron Paul wing of the par

Many of those are followers of U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, a former Libertarian and Republican presidential candidate who also has ties to the right-wing John Birch Society.

A relatively small but vocal number of prominent Oklahoma Republicans, including Bell and Owasso state Sen. Randy Brogdon, also are active in the John Birch Society, a Cold War-era organization that once labeled President Dwight Eisenhower a traitor.
