Glenn Beck will be in Fort Wayne, IN, this coming Saturday (Nov 24). He will be doing a book signing at the Borders book store on Coldwater Rd. (I called Borders here to confirm it). He will only be here from 8-9 then he is headed to Indianapolis. Anyone in the area that can make it, DO!

Mash, in his Forum piece, suggested tactics to derail the signing; but, as I posted on his Forum, that could probably annoy Beck greatly and ultimately damage the campaign. However...!
This is a wonderful opportunity for the Love part of the Revolution to make an appearance: for Ron Paul supporters to be positive, happy, polite, upbeat - to bring light to the event, not revenge or hostility.
I bet there is a Fort Wayne meetup group - maybe you folks could show up and be a happy, enlightening presence. That would be pretty darn great.

How is it that a tv news personality like Glen Beck has U.S. Secret Service agents traveling around with him acting as personal body guards during his book signings, does anyone here find that a little strange and unnerving. It should tell you who he really works for and that the rantings against Ron Paul and all of his supporters is a deliberate attempt to create an ugly confrontation to be plastered all over the national news. It doesn't matter how polite or well behaved you are when you show up at these bookstores because they will force the issue to get their desired results it is just a matter of time. Just stay away from the guy he isn't worth it.

Watched GB's show tonight
...well I flipped there during commercials while I was watching Lou Dobbs.
Anderson Cooper was interviewing Beck and the show was titled "inconvenient interview." What was really interesting to me: Beck referred to the movie "National Treasure" and said in reality, the Founders didn't hide "the secret" in invisible ink on the back of the Constitution, but rather in the largest "font" at the top of the document..... "We, the People" and that if we could just forget political correctness & assigning blame to the "other team" then we can find common sense solutions to our problems.
Anyway, after that I watched the "political turkeys" at the end of Lou Dobbs show and wasted 5 minutes of my life, but I started thinking about how Beck is, like Dobbs, speaking some truth on some issues (Lou on NAU; Beck on Global Warming Scam) and I am thinking he was right about "We, the People" -
Then, I looked at the USA Today ad. (Bought 1 copy; about 4 left in the store) We, the People support Ron Paul.
Anyway, I'll bet that neither Beck nor anyone on his staff know any Ron Paul supporters. I hope the People of FORT WAYNE rock his world view, making him think (even if for a brief moment) about who We, the People really are. Maybe that military guy that sent that email was just the right seed to plant in time for his arrival in IN.

During the planning of our meet-up's protest/sign wave, one individual said he'd be there, with eggs. Happily, he changed his mind about that, but instead he brought a question:
"Why do you think Ron Paul shouldn't be president?"
Glenn Becks' answer was: "The only thing I disagree with him about is foreign policy."
We gained a lot of local name recognition.
400-700 customers walked into Barnes & Nobles while we were there, I only heard about dozen mention any other candidates in a positive light, as opposed to twice that many interested in joining our meetup, and perhaps 60 indicate they supported RP, besides members of the local meetup groups.
I really think that it would be good for Ron Paul to be on GB's show.
Can we stop trying to micromanage things?
We all have opinions about what is "best" for the campaign, and sharing these opinions is fine. But, that is all they are....opinions. People need to be free to do what they want. That is what this is all about. Rights with responsibility.
We cannot prevent everyone from doing things that may be misconstrued, unwise, or detrimental to the campaign. If things go badly, we learn, and share with others so they hopefully don't repeat the mistake. But to hide out in fear of "What if one person screws it up..." or "What if people get the wrong idea..." Where is the courage in that?
We need to seize EVERY opportunity to get the message out. If we all do that, the good results of the many will always outweigh the negative actions of the few.
How is this not a great opportunity to get in front of a large number of potential Ron Paul supporters? These are the people we need to win over to Ron Paul's sensible policies.

I wanted to update you all w/ my experience;
I arrived, driving in just ahead of the big yellow Beck bus to the Borders Bookstore. Already assembled in the crisp night air were a solid number of the Ron Paul Freedom Patriots! I didn't get the actual count, but my view was in the area of aprx. 30-40, all with their signs and slimjims. As I was unaware of the distance restriction in regards to holding the signs, I approached the front doors of the store, where I was told I must stand back w/ the others present. It was about 50 feet from the doors, either side. When I stepped back to the others I handed off my sign, because I wanted to be upfront- inside, w/ my Ron Paul button and slimjims. So when I came back to the doors there were police still standing there, they first told me I had to stand off again, I then said ,I wanted to go into the store, the officer looked me over for any sort of material, I again stated that I wanted to enter the bookstore at which time they gave me the ok.
I went immediately to the front of the area set up for Glen Beck,it was taped off, there were apprx 600 folks standing in a line that snaked itself all the way throughout the store. There was a strong presence of police and store security in addition to Glen Becks personal security team.
I took up positioning myself directly in Glen Becks line of vision about 12' so that everytime he turned to acknowledge someone w/ a book to sign, he would see I was a Ron Paul Patriot.
Just about everyone there had their cameras,except for me, :( , so I stood quietly there observing the peoples reactions to meeting him, he being cordial in greeting them.
It was about twenty minutes into standing there that a young man, Cory, stepped up to openly ask Mr.Beck a question, behind the taped line, he also had a camera phone w/a video I believe-I will try to state it,as best I can remember, 'So Glen, can you tell us how you have profitted by using Ron Paul... ',I know there were a couple of other words in there but before he could finish, the whole secrity staff immediately went into action getting the young man removed from the store. BUT...and I realize that Borders is on private property, which is why they can stifle what is said, in addition that's how you can control and monitor what is only going to be your crowd.
What happened next, is I believe to be the REAL Glen Beck showing his TRUE self, a person who has a contempt for, if not an arrogant attitude of conditional, restricted, Freedom of Speech. As the young man was being removed, Glen Beck stopped signing books ,stepped back raised his arms and w/ a smirk began applauding , looking to the others to acknowledge and join by enthusiastic applause, there were a couple of people who yelled out ,'yeah get him out of here!! Lots of snickering and laughs. Then Mr.Beck made a shrugged shoulder , hands out to his sides, silly face. WOW!!

I continued to stand patiently and I could tell the security was only waiting for me to say something or try to approach the secured area, but I smiled and waited, behind the taped line. There was a person who was in line w/ a book that I heard ask Beck when he was going to have Ron Paul on his program, Becks reply was he has tried numerous times to do just that.
While I stood there a man(about 30's) came up behind me and started in asking another person beside him, 'yeah did you see all those people standing outside, they are those conspiracy wack jobs ,they need to all be trucked to a 'special place',that guy was w/them.
I turned and asked him if he had ever read the U.S. Constitution, especially the part that covers Freedom of Speech? After all the young man was simply, exercising his Right in the Constitution? Simply asking a question. This mans' answer truly tells the state of the Beck mindset-'That wasn't free Speech, he was talking' terrorist talk, and all those Ron People out there are all smoking some weird Bong stuff, they are radicals!'
When I turned to look him in the eye, smiling, he saw that I was wearing my Ron Paul button, he didn't have anything else to say.
The young man, Cory, was back up front w/in a few minutes, and then made a statement" You know Mr. Beck, We the People, will have our Revolution, with the security once again quickly grabbing him this time w/his arms put up behind his back, and out of the store. Somone in the gathering said outloud-They need to Taze that bro!!! Seriously, there were laughs all around folks!!! Did you hear that??!!!Because he asked a question, yes, perhaps an uncomfortable one,
he should get TAZED??!!!!
I waited until all apprx. 600 folks had gone through w/ their ticket to be in this line, I wasn't going to be accused of jumping in and denying the fan club their moment, as it was going on
8:00pm, the staff were getting the last of the signings up to Beck, so at the end of the line I stepped in and was first asked if I was having a book signed, I said I had something else with me for Mr. Beck , I stepped up quickly and I was warmly received by Mr.Beck who took my hand, I told him 'Hello Glen, my name is Mellissa Kennedy,from the Columbus Ron PauL meetup group and I am here to thank you for reminding America why we need Ron Paul. May I ask if you would sign something for me ,even if its not your book? I handed him my Ron Paul Slimjims, he took them and glanced at them, then back at me, smiling, kinda like, well ok, he then proceeded to sign them, as he signed them he said"You know...I really have tried numerous times to get Ron Paul to agree to coming on the show, but he has refused time and again.'
I stated to Mr.Beck,' I think you know Ron Paul is always willing to have a open and civil discussion on any of the issues and if you would give him that opportunity, I believe you'd get a positive answer.
So I hope that you try again, in all civility. Thank You Mr.Beck. ' As I turned to leave, he took me by the back of my arm , I turned and he said ,"Thank You, Mellissa, for being so reasonable while you've been standing here, I noticed ,and I truly appreciate it!
I know that there were some things that I wanted to say, but by biding my time and tongue, I was able to approach the man up front with my comments and who knows, if enough of us along the way get that moment to quietly yet firmly put out the truth it may start a chain reaction . So here's to making our presence seen and heard bringing the message of HOPE. :( I couldn't find the cookies, to bring along. Maybe someone else can remember them at their stop of his tour.

Honestly, I know he deeply offedned all of us, but whatever happpens, you KNOW he'll spin it in his favor.
He's the one with the show on CNN, not one of us.

Hi All thanks for the good posts about this and here is what I think I am going to have my group do. Wear your shirts hats and pins but put jackets over them until you are in the door. I think some of the book stores have gotten wind of some of this and we do not want to offend local business. Hopefully when jackets are taken off then there will be Ron Paul shirts everywhere. Listen quietly but let him know as he looks out into the audience ands sees "Real Americans" he knows that they are Ron Paul supporters. Shock him not by our anger or our loudness but our mere numbers.

I've been thinking about the idea of supporters going to Mr. Beck's book signings since yesterday when I first saw this post, and it seems like there's just WAY more potential for this to go badly than not. It would only take one loudmouth or some hotheaded fool to make the whole group look really bad, no matter how well-behaved and polite the rest might be.
And for goodness sake, whatever you do, don't bring the word "terrorist" into this on signs or T-shirts, or whatever -- even if you're saying you're not one. Beck's guests said some idiotic things, sure, but most people out there are probably completely unaware of what they said. The last thing we need to have is for the clueless public to see some bunch of well-meaning Ron Paul supporters and see the word "terrorist", and start thinking something like "huh? what? terrorist? Ron Paul?".
As many other comments have observed, perhaps the best thing to do is just ignore him and concentrate on more productive support for the Paul campaign.
Go knock on doors in your neighborhood and tell people why you like Ron Paul, for example. I've done this and people are surprisingly willing to listen. Hand out slim jims. There are many better ways to support the campaign, IMO.

I have been reading the different posts from all over and the emphasis on being happy and polite,is a good point- along w/civility in addressing Glen Beck as Dr. Paul would in the type of discourse that takes away the oppositions' momentum. And as I was just sittting here a litehearted :) :) thought of how Mr. Beck could be approached hit me- we know you can catch more flies w/sugar than vinegar? How about something that is multimessage symbolic of Dr. Paul-What downhome symbol is special to him? Think back- he is so keen to admire this symbol. It represents hopitality, care, love,a way to remind him he is special-I believe that this could be a fun way to get the message to Mr.Beck in using this easily aquired symbol, of just how special Dr. Paul is to us -
What is this unique, yet simple symbol of which I speak? Similiar to Ronald Reagan loving JellyBeans, Ron Paul loves homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies(his lovely wife's ,of course).

Don't buy this fool's book. That's just putting money in his pocket. I like the idea of making it a RP rally day. All RP supporters could show up, ask for an apology, (which if he had any class, he would) and challange him on all the crap he says about Ron Paul. We don't have to be evil about it. Keep it polite and business like. Anyone foolish enough to actually listen to Glenn and BUY his book is obviously a lost soul and need to hear from Ron Paul supporters immediately. Not only will you hold Glenn's feet to the fire, but you can educate his foolish followers on where Ron Paul really stands on issues. This is win-win for us. Glenn is FREE to say what he wants about Ron and his supporters, but we are also FREE to challange him on it. Even if he agrees with Ron, he'll never say it on the AIR, but at least he would tone down all the lies he spread since his loyal followers will know the truth about Ron, thanks to the Ron Paul Supporters.
BUY HIS BOOK
Get him to sign it, smile at him and tell him you disagree with him about Ron Paul, shake his hand, thank him, go home and put his book on eBay to recoup your money, donate the money to Ron Paul.

I bet the IN folks could just be honest, which would involve some friendship with Glenn Beck (we have a lot in common) and some genuine anger. You can rip into a guy and also enjoy some good laughs at the same time. It sounds like a great opportunity to have fun with the Ron Paul Revolution.

the goal with Beck should be capture, rather than defeat.
from what i've seen and heard, Beck is awfully close to the Paulian paradigm. he's just really afraid of Iran. i could be wrong, but that seems to be the one big thing keeping Beck attached to the neo-con plan.
my suggestion is to confront him there. not in an abrasive way, but in a manner consistent with honest-to-goodness political dialogue. ask him how he would handle terrorism. help him to define his position. listen to his arguments. the more he tells you, the more you have to work with.
then compare his plan with Ron Paul's vision, and see how he reacts when you compare the two in terms of cost, both human and otherwise.
even if you don't convince the guy at the time, he'll at least respect your approach and you won't have added to the "quack" factor.
we won't win him over by yelling at him.
Book Signings
I sent the following letter to both my local Barnes and Noble and borders book stores:
On last night's show 11/12/2007, Glenn Beck implied that any person who supports Ron Paul is a terrorist... Due to this my group in Central Pennsylvania is now boycotting your products and/or services until you no longer allow his book signings in your stores. Please forward this to the appropriate person....Thanks for your understanding .

I was offended by Glenn Beck's comments, too, but to punish stores that allow him to do book signings is unnecessary. Let's keep in mind who's the enemy here--Glenn Beck, NOT Barnes & Noble nor Borders. We'll get Beck back when we vote in the Primaries, my friend.

Heed the warnings people!
DO NOT BE RUDE TO GLENN BECK! As much as you might like to considering the BS comments he made recently, he is the 1 talking head that I believe could be legitimately brought into the Ron Paul camp. He's got a lot of the same beliefs, the same desires, and is just misguided on Ron's overall policy. Either that, or the guy is trying to get Ron on his show by calling him out.
Regardless, we need as many people on Ron's side as we can get. So before you all blast this guy, like only Ron Paul supporters can, think twice and realize that we could legitimately pull a coup with Glenn Beck. We could legitimately get him on our side and have a constant voice in the media.
Save the chanting and civil disruption for Hannity and Limbaugh, because we all know they will never come around.

A couple of days ago on his radio show, Mr. Beck was talking about the CFR and it appeared as he had just had a revelation as to what is was. He read a number of quotes from Rockefeller, and truly sounded shocked...and went on how THESE were the enemies from within.
OK...Maybe there is some hope here, if we can get him to connect the dots...Let him know who all the CFR members are...and aren't in this race.
BTW, David Horowitz (who said LewRockwell.com is "in bed with the islamofascists") IS a CFR member.
Combine some education...on something he seems concerned with, with the Love of the RP Campaign...and we might do some good.

I remember Aaron Russo talking about CFR. He mentioned that Dan Rather is a member. Some people join just to be prestigious and don't really know whats going on there. I've been thinking that's our problem too. We really DON"T know anything! There is just too much biased info out there. We're just left to debate what we think we know. Kept in the dark running in circles.
All we can really do is look for honesty in people and hope for the best.

We are focused on HELPING Ron Paul. Not to pull stunts that are revenge-based or silly. It was neither "awesome nor hilarious" when the Paul supporters got carried away: it was an embarrassment to the campaign. Well-meaning but just wrong.
Save your yells for the rallies, for football games, or something else.
Keep the focus on helping Dr. Paul.
