Of all the failures in the last 9 years more than half have occurred in the last 12 months.

Bank failures are indeed accellerating with more to follow.

Large banks will take the TARP money from the government to buy up the small failed banks and wipe out their competitors.

I have noticed during the crisis Chase Bank has been on a huge building streak.

Notice they are all small banks...

just like in the 1st depression. Consolidation of wealth and power. History is completely repeating itself only this time we are a nation of consumers instead of producers due to all the damnable "free trade" agreements. Throw in some godawful hyperinflation which wasn't possible the 1st time around because of the gold standard and it is a complete doom song.

So you'd rather wait until the end of THIS depression before you start counting the bank failures?

What you say is true....by the end of the first depression, there were many more banks that went under. So, maybe in a few years you'll be on board with 'conventional thinking' and agree when you can do a side-by-side comparison of how many banks were lost.

just getting started it. I read that 1000 are expected to go down this year can't remember where I read it but we will just have to wait and see.
