Something I witnessed last night and just could not believe..
So There I was..Sitting in this place that we call the first class mess..(for those of you that don't know, I'm in the military.) So I'm sitting there drinking some beers and I look up to my right and what do I see? An Israeli flag hanging on the wall...I couldn't believe it! So I quietly took it down without anybody noticing, I didn't want to cause a ruckus..But I look again 30 minutes later and somebody had put it back up..At that point I was just pissed..So this time I took it down while everybody could see...A few looked not understanding why I was doing it and a few looked and laughed..I simply said that I was not going to have that crap flying around in my face in my home knowing how our countries are far too intertwined..anyway..that's my story...I just had to get it out to some people who would understand..Because apparently most people don't...thanks..Peace

The mess hangs flags of the different countries we visited, but they were tourist flag and they were signed by all the mess members at a local pub while in port. Now I agree that an Israeli flag is a hated icon to most of the Arab world but sheeesh, did you speak with your president or other board members about this before making a scene?
It is not a sign of Israeli dominance, just a sign of a country that the mess visited.
Cool down and speak with the board of directors about the flag. Don't be stupid and assume there is a nefarious plot to take over the Mess by Mossad agents....

Trust me..what I did would have happened in your mess..If I think something isn't right then I speak up and handle the situation and I'm well respected for it..This is a base..not a ship..we don't go port to port and collect flags..There was only one other flag in the entire place..not even an American flag..

I'm not so sure this was really even a military mess hall.
That, along with what you just said, makes me wonder if Logic didn't leave out a few rather important details...details that, to me, would make a difference as to whether the presence of this flag was really inappropriate .

When the Navy inspected our Marine troop quarters aboard ship going to Japan and found a pile of shit in the middle of the deck from our mascot dog that they didn't know we smuggled aboard. They thought one of us Marines took a dump there.
When they finally figured out we had a dog aboard, they searched the entire ship from bow to stern to throw him overboard. The dog, a white Spitz knew something was up, and remained quiet and motionless in our radio chief's sea-bag. Smart dog. We called him Fuji. They never found him.
He adopted us in Okinawa and stood formations with us and would come to attention and at ease with us. A real sight.
