Once again, I am a Dr. Paul supporter, BUT, I also believe in holding people accountable and that is all I am doing. We helped him raise A LOT of money and I haven't heard anything about where the money went. I find it quite ridiculous to charge people who helped you raise money the price he is charging to go the the Campaign for Liberty conference, ESPECIALLY during these hard times. Can anyone shine any light on this or will you just ridicule me for wanting to hold someone accountable?

I see your point but,...

for as much heat as that old man took for us, I don't care if he keeps every nickle.

I understand that....

but, be honest and tell us that....

You are not concerned where the money went?

unbelievable

Considering the alternative?

No. I am not concerned where the money went because C4L never made enough MONEY in the first place, let alone enough to pay a fine to the IRS. Youre wanting RP supporters to turn the C4L into the IRS.. are you joking?

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...

C4L is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/501(c)

IRS says: http://www.irs.gov/charities/nonprofits/article/0,,id=96178,...

C4L can be fined $250K per year.

"No good deed will go unpunished"

Now, do you want to join C4L or call the IRS?

I'm not concerned where the money went

but I believe it went to Campaign for Liberty. I received a mailer from C4L yesterday asking for even more money, which made me shake my head and wonder why they're trying to play a game that is totally rigged (the game of money and politics). I thought to myself, I would be better off spending $200 in so many other ways.

I went to Minneapolis last September and sat through a portion of the C4L training and it was disheartening. Many of the C4L people believe that the liberty movement is best served through working within the GOP structure and raising money for the purpose of lobbying. I'm not saying they're wrong, I just can't seem to convince myself that they're correct. So I went with my gut and quit the GOP and decided that I cannot lend my support to the restoration of the Republic by participating in a corrupt political process.

Bingo

I believe the GOP is being run by Democrats here in CA.

I'm a huge huge huge huge

I'm a huge huge huge huge supporter.

and i cannot stress the word 'huge' enough.

but i'd like to know as well.

Don't campaigns need to

Don't campaigns need to report their accounting to the FEC? Maybe the info is there.

About charging people, what choice is there? The CFL needs to pick-up inches wherever it can. Every little bit helps to fuel the efforts. If the CFL always does things for free, then eventually there will be no resources to continue. People need to financially support the organization if they believe in it.

...

I am not

asking for it to be free, but $159 is ridiculous, once again, ESPECIALLY during these hard times.

Why don't you go to the

Why don't you go to the source and ASK until you get the answers you want instead of posting this divisive, gossip generating thread?! I don't visit here often but seems every time I do there is something flapping around like this thread and it just makes my blood boil so pardon me if this gets a bit harsh.

As we all know, CFL emerged from the countless hours, time and money invested by more than a million of us and is the best hope to come along ever for the liberty cause. Do you think all they are doing is free? What about the cost of the Minnesota rally alone? I take it that you are not a dues-paying member therefore have not participated in any plans they are trying to implement. Just the cost of updated voter lists for each precinct they're providing is hundreds of thousands of dollars just for my state alone! If they don't get enough dues paying members and most important Precinct Leaders, do you think they can even continue?? Some states have example of 3000 members, of which maybe 300 pay dues and of those only 60 are Precinct Leaders. Do you see a problem here? Even the dues paying members are sitting back waiting for someone else to do the work and it is more than a little frustrating to watch.

From my observations, the total members dropped drastically when CFL went online with the new website and they have been slow in trickling back. I believe they are reaching out to those summer soldiers with hopes of rekindling the flame they once had. It seems most have slipped back into apathy. How about YOU? As an active member you would have better understanding and again, keep asking THEM until you get the answers you want.

Campaign for Liberty is not perfect but they are doing their best to fine tune the organization and encourage the bottom up grassroots to continue on in this movement.

I like the way they do it better than the way you don't.

I have

gone to the horses mouth and I am awaiting a reply. Its funny how you would be so willing to ask this question of ANY OTHER politician, BUT, when someone asks it about Ron Paul, he is a "divisive, gossip generating" person. I think its very irresponsible of you to NOT want to know where all of that money went (is).

Absolutely! I also used to

Absolutely! I also used to lurk here and consistently get pissed off to no end at threads like this. It is mostly revisionism, and even the parts of the criticism that are true tend to be naive about the real world difficulties of a presidential campaign.

While I am an enthusiastic

While I am an enthusiastic member of C4L, I see nothing wrong with asking where funding from the public was spent in thr RP campaign. If I were to be asked for accountability for funds that someone gave me I would be happy to provide the information. Much of the dirty tricks and lies the government has gotten away with is because of the non-transparency of funds spent and stolen as well. Due to my belief in Ron's high level of integrity I would be happy with a brief verbal breakdown, but an accounting of funds should not be a problem.

"If I were to be asked for

"If I were to be asked for accountability for funds that someone gave me I would be happy to provide the information."

This above statement implies that RP campaign is NOT being accountable and reads as an accusation. Opensecrets.org has itemized info on every candidate and I'm sure there are plenty other places for truly inquiring people to go, as well a genuine written inquiry would likely get a response.

opensecrets.org

does not tell you where the money is or where it went.

Yeah, I would like to see where all the campaign

funds went. Im sure they have a some type of records to show the public. I mean we raised how much?

Come on people..

you all jump on the bandwagon when trying to hold other politicians accountable. I am currently emailing the CFL with the same question.

Not impressed with C4L

I rarely....really rarely got to C4L. It's a poorly formatted site and hard to "navigate".

Poorly formatted site is right!

I find the C4L site is not user friendly and has several glitches. I wanted to become a precinct leader but the requirements involved would have meant that I quit my job. A person who works evenings or weekends cannot participate in a huge amount of activities. I will still try to do what I can, but I would think that any precinct leader who is an RP supporter, is better than none.

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV

"It’s not like I’m just trying to win and get elected. I’m trying to change the course of history." ~Ron Paul

My only question.

My only question, as a member of the Campaign for Liberty, is this:

Is the C4L a multi-party/non-partisan movement dedicated to restoring constitutional government---or is it an advocacy organization for the GOP?

I suspected the latter after I joined, hence I have not kept up much with the organization, because I don't take it very seriously. However, I'm willing to reconsider my point of view.

Over here in Britain, it cost me £10 (about $15 US right now) to join the LPUK for one year. That includes private forum access.

With Bob Barr at the helm, I'd understand if Americans didn't want to join the Libertarian Party right now.

If you are sceptical about the CFL, how about the Constitution Party?

I'm not sure anyone here can answer your question.

I have no first-hand knowledge of how campaign funding got spent...

I think you should take your question to the CFL directly. Not that I'm not sympathetic... I agree that with all the early hub-bub and fanfare, the end was anti-climactic. I would have hoped for a better show with all the money raised.

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

It's all reported publicly.

Somebody can link you to the spending I'm sure. It is a good question, unfortunately I don't know where you can get the info but I know for sure it's public information.

Yeah

I would like to see a link if anyone can find it.

Good question..I just got my

Good question..I just got my letter in the mail from the C4L today asking for a contribution...I wonder how much that cost them?

It is

a question that many hear do not want to ask. I mean $159 per person to go to the event in St. Louis?? And that doesn't even include the dinner/dance on Sat. night?? He got a shitload of money donated to him during the campaign and I find it hard to believe he spent it all running the campaign. I want to know where that money went.

??
