My Oath of Loyalty, my Pledge …

I’ve been thinking that we’ve come together at the DailyPaul with thoughtful discourse to express our anger and outrage at the infringement put upon our freedoms by an ever burgeoning oppressive government. We give opinion for and against on a variety of issues and topics. We educate each other with historical reference, learned knowledge and commiserate when “Lady Liberty” is repeatedly bludgeoned by recent acts of despotism.

We are different from one another in many aspects of life; whether it be ethnicity, age, religion, wealth, geographic location, etc., yet we share one common ideal: freedom.
What a wonderful word; a word understood in every language and dialect across the planet. We have become the new founding fathers of our nation; a fraternal college of freedom thought.

Despite the reality of our country spiraling downward into economic malaise and moral morbidity, we can still hold onto freedom in our minds and souls. No one will ever take that away from us. It is our unalienable right as a people.

Republicae, one of our esteemed DP’ers, stated in one of his eloquent comments that he refuses the oath of the Pledge of Allegiance because it implies no separation between the rights of government and the rights of people (i.e., “indivisible”). Perhaps we need a new pledge, one that embraces an ideal of who and what we are as Americans.

I want to offer a pledge to all of you who embrace freedom. Feel free to add or change it or create a new vow. Whatever is decided, it will be ours to share together.

I pledge allegiance to all Americans, who are united in liberty,

To speak out against tyranny with vigilance;

To act with deeds, against malice towards others;

and to respect the right of individual freedom and independence for all.
