Anybody see Rick Santelli go off?
Submitted by alaney on Fri, 02/20/2009 - 09:59
It was spectacular! Right there on CNBC Squawk Box. Live from the Chicago trading pits, Santelli lambasted the Obama Administration for inept policies, and he had the whole trading floor weighing in with overwhelming agreement. "These guys are not novices in economics", Rick said. "Are you listening, Pres. Obama?" All the "so called" conservatives are jumping on the Libertarian bandwaggon, whether they know it, or not. Not many give mention to Ron Paul, and it's a crying shame that they couldn't rally around Dr. Paul when he had the Presidential campaign spotlight.

Robert Gibbs trashing him...
Right now (2:07PM ET), he's saying "Mr Santelli is (wrong). It will drive mortgage rates for everyone. Every American with a Mortgage Payment should try to get re-financed right now."
"I'd be happy to buy him a cup of coffee. Decaff."

That guy is just riffing off
That guy is just riffing off of Brian Williams. This morning on the Today Show, Williams said about Santelli (while he was being interviewed, mind you) that Santelli was at the NYSE, 'where they don't serve decaf'... Williams is a better comedian than news anchor.

The problem with that is that Rick is always in Chicago.

Eh, I'm tired of people
Eh, I'm tired of people saying EVERYTHING is fake. I'm surprised they aren't saying the c4liberty isn't set up by the cia, etc. Rick Santelli has always had similar opinions
"One man with courage is a majority." ~ Andrew Jackson
It definitely pays to be
It definitely pays to be skeptical of "conspiracy theories." Just like it pays to read and think and ask others and ask yourself and on and on. This means that you're not willing to eat anything that hasn't first proven itself worth biting into, in other words, your skepticism comes from your experience. And I applaud that.
However, it is irrelevant to the idea that this segment was likely staged. Just as it is irrelevant whether or not it was intentionally used or not, the point is - you can't allow yourself to be pulled into this imaginary world. CNBC is as much a part of the entertainment industry as any other network. How is this possible, you ask?
Because it doesn't come from you.
Don't buy into it, that's all I'm saying. If you do, you'll miss out on our chance to restore constitutional government.
Stop believe we need a revolution to solve our problems and start understanding that it's only a *restoration* that can get us there.
No shouting is necessary. We need to simply share the truth with others and get past all the B.S. in the process. Not an easy thing to do.
Who will be the first to
Who will be the first to call Santelli a "shill for the NWO"? The thinking has gotten about a 1/4" deep around here.

It's on CNBC's homepage
CNBC has it on their front page-- you can watch the video and comment. I just put my comment in.

This is fake. The bankers need an evil 'twin' of Dr. Paul
to upstage him so they can control the outcome more in their favor. This is classic 'co-opting' someone who has a legitimate platform.
This is similar to drug 'legalization' being 'promoted' by George Soros and the Cato Institute. They attempt to co-opt it from sincere proponents like Marc Emery, Dr. Paul. Very creepy.
I half agree too
I completely agree with the first paragraph.
Soros contributed to legalization of cannabis and both Marc Emery and Ron Paul have taken money from Soros. It is legal money, but still...
There is a book by Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea, "The Illuminatus" It begins at a Grateful Dead Concert.. it is the best conspiracy novel I have ever read (a mind fucker) It's as if Soros is the leader of the "Discordians", who are the other piller of the Illuminati. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Illuminatus!_Trilogy

I think you are half
I think you are half right.
Rick Santelli's rant itself was not faked IMO.
What is fake is the media jumping on his bandwagon. This is a classic case of co-opting. The media is now spinning what Santelli said and pretending its how they feel because they know that the sentiments of the average American lies in what he said and HAS SAID at least since early last year when I really started watching CNBC. He was there railing against the whole bailout process before it started when the cracks were first starting to show and the idea was being floated.
The media is doing this to reign in it's viewers that are tuning out by pretending to back the interests of Americans. They will attempt to take what he said to twist us into trying to support something else as a plan B because the Obama plans are terrible and we all know it
I agree Santelli is a bit of
I agree Santelli is a bit of a dramatist but his sentiment was genuine. Also agree the media will blow whichever way their audience wants them to blow. The only thing that matters is ad revenue, and if it takes "breaking news" nonsense to keep viewers glued, that's what they'll continue to do.

I believe that is going way too far.

Seemed staged to me also..
Not sure I trust anything anymore. At any rate, they had Rick on the Today show this morning and they were pumping up his rant from yesterday. Whether Rick is witting or unwitting of his participation in controlled opposition is both debatable and irrelevant. The bottom line, for me anyway, is that the powers that be *allow* us a few opportunities for the truth (especially when it affords us some much needed venting) so as to articulate the popular rage so that we don't have to.
Yes, that line is from "Network" - but I think it is an ageless technique. The best way to stem opposition is to infiltrate it and guide it. Alex Jones is a prime example of controlled opposition, but many are much more subtle, less obvious.
The key is divisiveness. Ingredients conveniently include obnoxiousness, over-zealousness, and just an overall loud display, however, the key remains divisiveness. Jones, Icke, the Zeitgeist creators, Rense, Hal Turner - on and on and on with the different personalities and perspectives who maintain these general rules each and every time.
How do we know this? Because the truth doesn't need to be shouted. It doesn't need to be sold on a t-shirt or waved in your face or burned to a DVD with eerie background music and daunting narration. The truth is the truth.
You simply share it, and you do this calmly and politely so as to help others see it.

Don Harrold on YouTube had a good video he posted concerning this outburst yesterday.

If you haven't watched a Don Harrold video before, he is a very interesting guy. While I don't always agree with him, he is generally right on.
So is he right? Is it too late to complain about this now, or do we still have a chance to turn this around?
Here is the video for those who have not seen it.

It seemed canned to me
I saw the YouTube, and the way the producer was pumping it, like it's the climax of that old movie, "The Network", it came off as staged. Where MSM is creating a hero, another voice, besides Ron Paul.... That's all it seemed like to me was canned theatre.

You can tell when things are real on CNBC
Because when someone starts telling the truth, the other hosts start looking at each other with nothing to say, as if to say "that's not in the script!"
And that's exactly what happened here.

You'd have to watch Santelli
You'd have to watch Santelli on a daily basis to recognize that it's a fair and accurate personal outburst by Rick. He's praised Ron Paul before so this clip goes fairly hand in hand with things he regularly says.
He appears to be a standup guy.
Puppets come and puppets go but the world's stage is getting cluttered.
I'm sure he prasies Ron Paul
Ron Paul has more exposure on TV now than ever... could it be because during the election Ron Paul was the most POPULAR candidate????? Was it because if elections were fair RP would have won? I have people coming up to me asking me about RP, where during the election they were threatening me if I said RP one more time. RP is THE man, so to me, this "Network" outburst is canned... keeps viewers tuned in and feeling represented. It's one big soap.

Rick was one of the first
Rick was one of the first people to praise Ron Paul a long time ago ... not just now
That doesn't really prove
That doesn't really prove anything though.. Granted, there isn't much proof to the contrary either.
Except that controlled opposition is a favorite tactic and we should expect to be seeing these things.. Chances are, if an outburst like this happens in the MSM, and is then promptly promoted by the MSM, there are alternative intentions taking place.
Just look at Alex Jones from his beginning (Y2K freak outs) to the present. His role is much more blatant but it illustrates the need for all these pockets of expression.
Counter cultures, by their very definition, are counter-productive. They are doomed to fail because they do not, fundamentally, embrace the full spectrum of truth and humanity, i.e. they do not succeed in, or even attempt to, relate to *everybody*.
That's what I'm saying,
That's what I'm saying, Rick's the real deal. He speaks out everyday. Yes it's television but among the talking heads there are diamonds in the coal. Rick's one such guy.
Regardless, canned or not the sentiment is real.
Puppets come and puppets go but the world's stage is getting cluttered.
It was
beautiful!
I saw it live ...
and to be honest ...
It was nothing out of character for him ...
He is a huge fan of Ayn Rand ...
And he battles those blow hards every single day ...
Not sure of the names (I am bad with names) but the guy that covers the Fed and the guy that covers the auto industry constantly put him down ...
and yet Rick is the most popular correspondant they have ...
They even started to put him on prime time ...
Which was an expensive decision for CNBC because Rick is in Chicago.

Yes!
It was the high point of my day yesterday and it reminded me of a truly joyous moment....remember during the campaign when Rick was on the trading floor talking and in the background everyone was chanting "Ron Paul! Ron Paul! Ron Paul!" Remember that? It was soooooooo awesome lol...my heart leaps with joy at the memory of it.
Be sure to go do all the diggs on it and send it out to your email list...circulate the video far and wide.

Censured Maybe
It seems that the FCC might have sent out the word to the MSM not to air it any more. I wanted my wife to see it, but no channels seem to be showing it. Gotta keep the sheeple from getting upset you know.
